As the new year draws to a close, it's time to present to you my very favorite "cheapie" products that were released this year, which I am calling the Nouveau Cheap "Cheapie" Awards 2009!
My requirements for consideration:
* The product must have been released in 2009
* You must be able to purchase the product for $20 or under
So if you would like to see what products won this prestigious award (OK, maybe it's not quite prestigious but it is coming from the bottom of my heart!) then read on for the list of winners.
PLEASE NOTE: I have added a link for each winner that will take you to my original review of the product. It's not a coincidence that I have already reviewed all of these winning products--if you're a fan of this blog then you know that I review ALL of the products I love, so that's why these awards are truly coming from the bottom of my heart. I'm very passionate about these winners and if you read my reviews you'll see why. :)
I've been working on this list for several months and after careful thought and consideration, the winners are...

I also want to mention the "Lamest Beauty News of 2009" which was when we found out back in June that P&G decided to stop selling Max Factor products in the US as of 2010.
The "Best beauty news of 2009" definitely goes to the day we found out that e.l.f. was going to be sold at Target and then when I finally saw an actual display at my Target in October.

Whew! So that's it--the first ever Nouveau Cheap "Cheapie" Award Winners! So tell me--did your favorite products released in 2009 make my list? Do you think I left anything out? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Disclaimer: While I purchased most of these products for myself throughout the course of the year, I am adding this disclaimer because some of these products were given to me directly from the manufacturer or from the agency working on behalf of the manufacturer. Yay!! What a list!! And what a year for makeup!! Happy New Year :D
ReplyDeleteI am in love w/ Twilight Woods... thanks to you :D
Yay, thank you for sharing! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletewow thanks for making this list !im checking out the items
ReplyDelete:p
great summary! i'm thinking i might make this into a checklist, lol.
ReplyDeleteI nominated you for a blog award!
ReplyDeleteam curious- what was your fave cheapie hair styling product (barring shampoo or conditioner)?
ReplyDeletendoodles: You are SO sweet!! I'm glad you like my list--and I am even MORE happy that Twilight Woods worked out for you! YAY!!! xo
ReplyDeleteK: You are so welcome!! It was my pleasure! xo
Vanilla: You're so welcome! And happy new year to you too, sweets! xo
beautifulmonday: OMG, you flatter me, girl! I would be stoked if you even checked out ONE of the things on this list! lol. I'm sure at least a few of these will fail you, because nothing works for *everyone*, right? That's why I truly struggled with putting the list together because it would break my heart to hear someone say, "I purchased XXX since you liked it and it SUCKS." lol. So I really made sure that I freaking LOVE everything listed--I actually use almost every single item here on a daily or weekly basis. Pleeeease keep me posted if you try anything from my list, ok? Even if it doesn't work for you, I need to know! xo
Gaby: You ROCK, girlie! Thank you! xo
beautifulmonday: You know, I was going to list a styling product but then after searching through my bathroom I realized that NONE of the products I love and use were released in 2009, so that's why I didn't post anything. :( But as for the cheapie styling products I love, I've got a lot of 'em. GVP's version of Sebastian Potion #9, Sunsilk defrizz leave-in, Suave's defrizz cream (orange tube), Sunsilk Waves of Envy Sea Mist...I've actually reviewed all of those products so click the haircare tag if you need deets on those. Do you have a specific haircare issue that you need help with? Lemme know...I may know of something that can help! xo
I'm working on my shopping list for when I go to the US in the spring - and I think most of the items on this list are going on it! I keep referring back to this post! Thanks again for sharing this info. Do you have a post of your all-time favorite cheapie items?
ReplyDeleteR: ah, that explains it. i kept forgetting about the "released in 09" part, lol. (i also forgot that bit when i answered the last Wednesday q.) i love the orange Suave defrizz stuff! makes my hair so soft!
ReplyDeletere the list, i know that not everything works for everyone, so i'd never say something like that to you or anyone else who makes recommendations. i tend to be lucky with products that people weren't keen on, but i still usually won't purchase a product unless i read reviews on it that i trust. it's ok. there's always another mascara or blush or w/e to try if one doesn't work, you know?
and it's DS, so you're not really going to die if you toss an $8 product. (one of many things i love about DS.)
i was thinking of your blog on Weds- went to Ulta to take advantage of their buy 2 get 2 free sales. UNFORTCH the lines i wanted stuff from had been picked clean (!) so i ended up buying L'oreal Hip Mascara, L'Oreal Panoramic Curl, a thin gold HIP eyeliner and an Infallible black automatic pencil. (20 bucks for the lot!) So far all 4 are working for me- SCORE. I also saw majorly reduced Urban Decay gift sets and checked out the Palladio section to see the shadows in person. might have to go back for those. the bronze one you reviewed would be a super replacement for my fave one that bit the dust.
ooook time to end this insane comment. (i get excited easily!)
great list! i'm definitley a HUGE fan of the clean and clear facial wash. there's really no reason for not washing my makeup off at night with this awesome product being in my bathroom.
ReplyDeleteK: You are too sweet!I am SO flattered that you are using my list as a reference! Wow! I am going to feel bad if you end up buying these things and they don't work for you, so PLEASE be sure to read my original reviews of these products to help you determine whether or not you think they may have a good chance of working for you, ok? Even those these products are "cheap" they still cost money and I want you to spend your money wisely! Also, I do not have a post of my all-time favorite products as of yet because it would take me a bit of time to put something like that together. BUT, if you have a specific question, I'd be happy to answer it! Is there a particular product that you're looking for? Just let me know. xo
ReplyDeletebeautifulmonday: Thanks for the explanation. That makes me feel so much better! :) Re: your Ulta trip! You SCORED, girl! Yay!!!! I was actually going to place an Ulta order because I love those buy 2 get 2 sales and I rarely make it into a store (the closest one is still a half hour plus drive for me) but then I realized that I don't really NEED anything that's on sale right now so I did the full shopping cart abandonment. lol. lol! xo
yummy: YAY!!! I am so glad you are a C&C fan too! I never hear anybody talk about that face wash so I'm glad you love it too. I just hope it NEVER gets d/c'd like all of my other HG drugstore face washes have in the past. lol. xo
