You can receive a text message via Twitter whenever I post new content on my blog, or post a special deal/sale update that I think you should know about. You do not need to have a Twitter account to take advantage of this function.
PLEASE NOTE: standard text messaging fees apply. This is going to vary depending on your cell phone service provider and plan (if you have unlimited texts, then you're all set. If you don't, then please keep in mind that you may receive up to six texts from me per day, but usually about three). You will not receive additional fees from Twitter for using this feature.
1) Text ON nouveaucheap to 40404 (be sure to type uppercase ON, space, nouveaucheap. Do NOT add an "@" symbol to my handle).
2) You're done! Every single time I post something new on my blog, I post a tweet. That means that you'll receive a text message from Twitter every time I've tweeted.
In the event that you want to stop receiving texts from me, just do this:
Text OFF nouveaucheap to 40404 and the texts from me will stop.
Please keep in mind that occasionally I may post something late at night (especially if there's a hot deal that happens to go live when I'm still awake). So if you are the type of person who leaves your phone on when you're sleeping and you have a loud text tone that you do not mute when you're sleeping, please don't yell at me for possibly waking you up in the middle of the night. It's rare and I will ONLY do it if there's a really hot deal happening. Just a warning!

ReplyDeleteStandard text message fee applies depending on your carrier
DeleteYep, please see the "Please Note" section in my blog post above! :)

ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! xoxo
DeleteThis is great! :-) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU! :)
DeleteCan you leave this post under the About/Contact link in the bar? That way I will always know how to turn it on or off
ReplyDeleteYou're one step ahead of me! I was planning on doing that this week at some point but per your request, I just added it now! :)
DeleteBut G... I don't want to have to share your deals with others... lol. I thought we were exclusive... JK.. U have helped me amass a makeup empire and I am forever grateful :)
ReplyDeleteLol!!! Well my loyal blog readers always get the tips FIRST, because it takes me a minute to post the tweets (I don't use a service to auto tweet because those are sometimes unreliable). So blog readers slget an extra few minutes notice before I tweet, if that's any consolation? :)
DeleteHello! I just found you today and I love your blog already! I just signed up for your text alerts and I can't wait to see what else you have in "store". (Sorry I couldn't help myself.)
ReplyDeleteAaw, thank you so much!! And welcome! :)
Delete<3
ReplyDeleteSigned up. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteUm ... yay! All signed up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us posted about the Target boxes. I was one of the lucky ones!
ReplyDeleteIf you have the twitter app on your phone you can just turn on mobile notifications and avoid the whole text message. You then get up a banner/pop up when you post. I am cool with turning on notifications but it needs to be limited and not spammy. Too many beauty bloggers use twitter to post cheezy selfies and stupid inspirational quotes, etc.
ReplyDeletewow! Thanks for the info. I had no idea that Walmart offered beauty boxes as well. AND thanks for text option for beauty alerts. I'm all signed up and ready. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the text alerts and then they mysteriously stopped. I re-signed up again the same thing happen. I signed up more time and I hope it will continue to give me text alerts this time. Any tips??
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same problem. I've tried three times already and after a day or two it stops.
DeleteI'm having the same problem too. I've tried three times already, and after a day or two the texts stop.
DeleteI texted "ON nouveaucheap" to 40404 and received a text only about tweeting, not texting. I don't want to miss out! How do I get texts? BTW, I love your blog! 😍
ReplyDeleteHi G, in the past day or so, you started tweeting alerts with links in 2 texts instead of 1. Any chance you'll be going back to just 1? If not, that's okay, but I'll have to turn off txt notifications because it is distracting when I'm in the middle of working. I can usually keep working with 1 txt interruption but 2 makes me lose it for some reason. Pathetic, I know. Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteYou should probably unsub then. Sorry! I posted this week about the issues I'm having with Twitter right now and this is the ONLY remedy I can come up with to ensure that everyone sees my tweets/text messages. So many readers are getting an error message right now that says my tweets have been deleted (even though I have not deleted them) that the only way I can ensure that EVERYONE sees my alerts is to tweet the link separately. That way, people can see the alert, and then those who can click my links successfully can then proceed to my blog via the separate tweet. If I only tweet once with the link, a large segment of my readership cannot view the tweet at all. I have three help tickets on file with Twitter and no response so far. So I have no idea how long this is going to continue and I have no way to fix it myself. So it's probably best to unsub if you can't handle the two tweets because I honestly don't know how long this temporary fix is going to last. Thanks!!
DeleteOh!! Work has been so busy I didn't realize all of this was happening with your tweets/texts; I hope it all soon gets resolved because your system is awesome. Okay! Thank you so much for explaining!
DeleteI can't get my SH Salon Effect stickrrs to stick-there is no sticky on them. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
