Revlon Pure Confection Collection (MAC Sugar Sweet dupes)
OK, I posted about the new Revlon Soft & Smooth Lipcolors in this collection a while back, but then I totally forgot to talk about the rest of this collection!
If you haven't seen this display at your local drugstore yet, it's clearly a dupe of MAC's Sugar Sweet Collection (minus the Tricolour Lipglass, Mascara and Shadesticks). For pics of MAC Sugar Sweet, click on over to TheShadesOfU's fabulous blog here and here.
Revlon's Pure Confection Collection includes
4 new shades of Nail Enamel
1 new ColorStay 12-hour Eyeshadow Quad
6 new shades of Soft & Smooth Lipcolor
2 new shades of Creme Gloss
and, in my humble opinion, the standout product of the collection:
Pure Confection Highlighting Face Powder
Clearly this is a dupe of the MAC MSF "Lightscapade" which has already been talked about on many a beauty blog (for a side-by-side comparison, check out the 4th and 5th pics on CoachKitten's post on Spektra.net). MAC "Lightscapade" is arguably one of THE most popular Mineralized Skinfinish shades, so it's no surprise that Revlon chose to dupe this.
For $8.99 (compared to $27 for MAC MSF) I think Revlon's Pure Confection Hightlighting Face Powder is an absolutely awesome budget-friendly alternative and here's why: This is not *too* shimmery, yet it imparts a gorgeous, sheer shimmer to your face. The color is universal (a little on the golden side) and it's subtle (but you can build for intensity). Pure Confection truly makes your face look dewy without being oily because it's a powder (yay!!). And it's finely milled so you don't end up with big chunks of shimmer settling on your pores. It's truly one of the best highlighters I've tried and it ranks right up there with Wet n Wild Bronzzer in Acapulco Glow. I love to use it over my existing blushes, and I also love to sweep it across my eyes on those light makeup days. It's a high-performance wonder product that you can use in a zillion different ways to perk up your face.
The one drawback is that it's smaller than the other MAC MSF dupes, but I actually like the smaller size because it fits more easily in my makeup bag :)
Oh, and one more thing: This is the least messy powder highlighter that I've ever owned! With a lot of other products, once you swipe your brush on it the particles go everywhere. But with Revlon Pure Confection, because it's so finely milled and baked, there's no mess and no stray product anywhere. LOVE!
PS: If you want to see a fantastic side-by-side comparison of Pure Confection and Revlon ColorStay Mineral Powder in "Brighten", check out ShakeYourMakeup's awesome post HERE.
