Longtime readers know that I love my Dove body washes and bar soaps (my two favorites are Pistachio Cream & Magnolia and Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena), so when reader Meagan on Facebook let me know that Dove has just released a new scent, well, you know I had to share!

The new Dove Go Fresh Mandarin & Tiare is now up on the Dove website HERE, and it's available for purchase at Drugstore.com HERE and Walgreens.com HERE. So far, it looks like this scent is available in both body wash and bar soap, but I'm not sure about it being released as a deodorant (yet). 

I'm both a huge citrus fan and a huge tiare flower fan (you know how much I love that Yves Rocher tiare perfume I reviewed a while back!) so this sounds like a match made in heaven to me. If you've seen this in-store anywhere and given it a sniff, I would absolutely love to hear from you. I haven't seen it in person yet but I'm officially on the hunt!

You might recall that I posted about this body wash when I first found out about it back in February. At that time, I was sort of freaking out about this new scent from Dove, because I happen to be a big fan of both pistachio and magnolia fragrances. So it sounded like a match made in heaven for my nose, and I was fortunate enough to receive a bottle for review not long after my original post.

Review: New Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo

I know I've said it many times on this blog, but I have a slight addiction to dry shampoos. Having oily skin and side-swept bangs, the hair that rests on my forehead tends to get oily much quicker than the rest of my hair, so to extend the time between shampoos, dry shampoo can be my best friend. I've reviewed several dry shampoos over the years, and even though there are a few drugstore versions that I love, I'm always thrilled try new releases. So today I'd like to show you the Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo, which I was sent for review. When Dove first came out with haircare products, I tried a few of them as soon as I spotted them at my local drugstore. Sadly, the products I tried didn't work for my particular hair type (I've got long, naturally wavy hair that's fine in texture, prone to frizzies, color-treated, oily at the roots and dry at the ends).

But then, a few months ago, a few of my fellow beauty bloggers told me that the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care line was, in a word, amazing. In particular, my pal Kelly said she "could not say enough good things" about these products. My buddy Paula echoed Kelly's sentiments and said I seriously needed to try these products for myself. Well, how could I ignore two friends, who know my hair type, telling me I needed to give Dove haircare another try?

Next up, I spotted the newest Dove body wash the other day and it smells DIVINE:

I'm sorry Dove, did you say plum and sakura blossom??? I LOVE plum-scented anything, and plum with sakura blossom (AKA cherry blossom) smells just as wonderful as it sounds. I neeed this in my life, and it might kick my favorite Dove body wash, Pomegranate and Verbena, out of the number one spot!

And finally, I spotted this new Triple Butter Creamy Coconut body was from St. Ives:

You can't see it on the bottle, but it says that the formula is paraben-free, cruelty-free and made with natural ingredients. I took a whiff and oh my goodness, it smells like one of those frozen coconut bars to me! Truly mouthwatering. If you're a coconut fan, find this!

Yesterday I went to Rite Aid, coupons in hand, determined to take full advantage of the crazy sales going on this week. So I thought I'd post a pic of what I purchased, and how much I paid, in case you need some inspiration to start paying attention to sales and coupons and maximizing your savings. Please note that I could not have done this without the wonderful tips and advice that so many of you have given me over the past year, so thank you, thank you! Now it's time to pay it forward and inspire others. Let's not pay full price for drugstore beauty products ever again (unless we have to--or really, really want something ASAP). lol!

Oh, but before I start, I wanted to tell you that I'm running behind on responding to comments. I've read all of your wonderful comments (thank you!) and I should be able to respond to them tonight. This weekend was hectic and I was away from my computer a lot, so thanks for your patience, and please keep those comments coming--they are SO helpful!

L'Oreal High Tide nail polish: L'Oreal cosmetics are currently 40% off, which brings the cost down to $2.99, and I also had a $1 off any L'Oreal cosmetic item coupon, which brings the cost down to $1.99

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base: Currently on sale for 40% off, which brings the cost down to $7.77, and I also had a $2 off Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base coupon (from Red Plum, I think?), which brings the cost down to $5.77

ecoTOOLS Eyeshadow Brush and Concealer Brush: All ecoTOOLS products are BOGOFREE this week, which means the total cost was $3.99 for two brushes/$1.99 each

subtotal: $22.98

BUT, I also printed out that $5 off a $25 purchase coupon (my subtotal before I used my coupons was around $28), which then brings my total down to:

$17.98

At full retail price, the Studio Secrets Base and Dove Soap ALONE would have cost me $24.94. :)

I have to tell you a funny story about when I was at the check-out line. The lady in front of me had a stack of coupons (even larger than my own stack) and she was making a fairly large purchase of multiple products with coupons for each. I was trying to see how much she was saving with those coupons (how could I not be curious??) but all I could really see was the cashier scanning coupon after coupon. I was green with envy as I thought about her subtotal! lol. So anyway, that transaction took a while to complete (which I fully understand), and then of course the poor cashier than had to deal with MY coupons next. Ha! But the person I really felt sorry for was the guy standing in back of me, who was just trying to buy a six-pack of beer. He didn't complain at all, but I could feel him probably saying to himself: "Just my luck, I get in the line with two coupon queens ahead of me." :)

That's it for this Rite Aid report, but I hope I have inspired some of you to start paying attention to sales and using coupons in combination with sale prices. It really, really pays, and it's a great way to get new drugstore makeup products at a fraction of the retail cost. You just have to be a little patient, but it's definitely worth it in the end.

My top five picks for affordable springtime body washes

This is so weird! A few days ago I thought to myself, "I should post a list of my favorite springtime body washes like I did last year". So I went into my archive and it turns out that I did my original post on April 21, 2009. So exactly a year to the DAY, I thought about doing another one. I guess this time of year really does make me start to crave new body washes!

So this year, I am definitely not at a loss when it comes to bringing you yummy new body washes that scream "springtime". Here is my top five list of new body washes for spring, in case your shower is in need of a seasonal (and affordable) overhaul.

In the number five spot, let's start with a new product that I have only seen at Target so far (but I'm hoping for a wider release soon so that all of you can try it!):

Softsoap Body Butter Mega Moisture Body Hydrating Wash (retail: approx $5, 15 oz)

Normally, when I think of vanilla, I think of autumn and winter. But there are some vanillas (hello, Bath & Body Works Vanilla Noir!) that work for me all year around. The fragrance of this body wash is creamy vanilla, but there's a slight floral background that manages to keep it out of the "I want to eat this" category. It's more of a soft, pretty vanilla and, to me, it's perfect for those springtime days when there's still a chill in the air. I've been using this one for about a week now and it hasn't left my skin dry or tight (maybe that's due to the mango seed oil in this formula?) and it produces a rich, thick lather. I'm loving it.

Moving on:

In the number four spot:

Nivea Touch of Radiance Massaging Beads & Lime Blossom Scent (retail: around $7, 16.9 oz)

Let me make one thing clear: Lime blossom does not smell like lime! Lime blossom, otherwise known as linden, tilleul or French lime blossom, is a flower that comes from the linden tree. I know this because I'm a linden FREAK. If you've ever smelled linden, you know it smells nothing like lime. In fact, I'd say it more closely resembles fresh cucumber, but with a soft, almost baby-powdery background. It's lovely, but it ain't lime! So when I first saw "lime blossom" on this body wash, I knew better than to get my hopes up. I've gotten used to seeing lime mislabeled as lime blossom over the years, and this is another one of those cases. But the good thing--no, the GREAT thing--is that this body wash smells divine! If you love fresh, real, lime, I think you will enjoy the fragrance of this product. To my nose, it smells like fresh-squeezed lime juice with just a hint of sugar thrown in for good measure. It's so invigorating and mouth-watering and such a nice pick-me-up in the morning. If you're a lime lover, definitely give this one a sniff!

In the number three spot:

Dial NutriSkin Ultra Hydrating Body Wash in Cherry Seed Oil & Mint (retail: around $4.50, 16 oz).

I really can't say anything more about this body wash than what I told you in my original review (click here to check that out). It is DEE-LIGHT-FUL and I hope you have a chance to try it (or at least sniff it) soon. It really screams "springtime is here!" whenever I use it. :)

In the number two spot:

Kings & Queens Queen Elizabeth Sugar Shower Gel (retail: around $7.99, 10.14 oz)

Please, if you want to know all about this product, read my original review here. I could easily bestow additional heaps of praise onto this body wash, but I don't want to repeat myself. :) Kings & Queens, made by Korres and now available at Target, is a Greek bath and body line that features products that are paraben and mineral oil free, and smell, how shall I say this? Mouth-watering good. Queen Elizabeth Sugar Shower Gel makes me want to cry, it smells so luscious (and perfect for springtime). I said in my original review that this product will surely make my Cheapie Awards for 2010 because I can't imagine anyone else releasing something this year that smells better than this body wash, and I still believe that. Definitely worth a sniff the next time you're at Target.

And in the number one spot...drumroll please...

Based on overall value (you get a huge bottle for the price), accessibility (Dove products can be found everywhere), and of course fragrance and performance, I had to give this product the Number One spot:

Dove Go Fresh Active Body Wash in Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena (around $7, 24 oz)

I know I rattle on like a mad woman about the smell of this body wash (it's like fresh pomegranate juice!) but geeze, it's just a perfect scent for spring. And the very best part? It now comes in a body mist too! The body mist doesn't smell exactly like the body wash, but it's close enough and I'm delighted that I can get my Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena fix outside of the shower now as well. This scent is the epitome of springtime to me, and if you love tart, crisp, fruity scents, I think you need to try this one ASAP.

I hope this list gives you some ideas about how you can update your body wash stash as the weather warms up, and of course if you own any of the products I've mentioned, I would love to hear from you!

New CVS brand products and crazy deals at...Vons?!

Let me start by telling you that I was at CVS yesterday and, of course, I played the CVS "slot machine" (my term for the CVS card scanner that shoots out coupons for you whenever you scan your card) and guess what? I got the $5 off 2 Revlon products coupon on my very first try! So if you haven't been to CVS yet this week, GO and scan your card because you can combine it with the $3 coupons I told you about yesterday! And of course you can save it for next week and follow the awesome tip from Drugstore Divas, which makes the savings even sweeter!

OK, so when I was at CVS, I noticed some new interesting CVS brand products that I wanted to show you:

Did you know that CVS now has generic versions of Aveeno haircare? I didn't either! As a lot of you already know, Aveeno Nourish +Moisturize is one of my very favorite shampoos (it even made my 2009 Cheapie Awards) so I cannot wait to try the CVS version because, well, I will be able to tell you exactly how it compares to the original. I know the original like the back of my hand! If it's a good dupe, this will be great because the CVS version is only $5.99 and the CVS slot machine always prints out $1 off coupons for CVS haircare products, which will bring it down to $4.99 (a lot better than $7.49 for the original). But again, we'll see how it compares (fingers crossed!).

I also spotted these CVS brand versions of Dove deodorants and body mists! For now it's just the Lemongrass & Grapefruit and Cucumber & Green Tea scents, but hopefully they'll eventually release a generic version of the Pomegrante & Lemon Verbena too (you know how much I love that one!). And I think (not sure) but I think that you'll be able to use the $1 off CVS skincare product coupons that the slot machine always tends to print out if you decide to purchase these. I mean, these products qualify as skincare, right? OK, maybe I'm pushing it, but it never hurts to try. What's the worst that can happen? They tell you, "Sorry, you can't use these" and you move on, right?

Next I'd like to show you some crazy things I spotted at my local Vons. If you don't have a Vons grocery store in your city, but you have a Safeway, you might want to check and see if your Safeway has these deals too, since Safeway is the parent company of Vons (for those of you not in CA or NV, Vons is a very popular grocery store chain in California, with also a few locations in Nevada). I can't promise you that you'll find these exact deals at Safeway, but it never hurts to check!

And if you don't have a Vons or Safeway in your area, feel free to read on anyway, because I spotted some new products that I have yet to spot anywhere else, so you can always keep an eye out for these in your area.

I noticed that Vons is currently introducing a TON of new beauty products into their inventory, and when they launch a new product they offer it at a discounted "Introductory Price". I don't know how long the "Introductory Price" lasts, so I'd hurry if you want to take advantage of these low prices because they're definitely temporary. Also, there are tons of $1 off L'Oreal skincare coupons floating around in the Red Plum mailer, etc., so you can snag The Scrublet for just $4.99 if you play your cards right!

In my version of the Red Plum mailer this week (I know Red Plum changes from region to region so it may be different in yours) I got a $3.75 off one bottle of Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion coupon. Since Vons has this on sale this week for $4.99, I can snag a bottle for just $1.24! Hopefully you got this coupon too, and you live near a Vons, because this is a GREAT deal (click here for my review of Sheer Infusion if you missed it).

Also, did you notice those products to the right of the Vaseline lotions? I didn't even know EOS made body lotions!! Here's a closer look:

These are paraben-free, 97% natural body lotions that come in three versions: Replenish, Moisturize (which is cucumber-scented) and Repair. I love how they have the little signature indentation at the bottom (just like the lip balms, which you know I'm obsessed with!).

Vons also carries EOS Shave Cream (which Target also carries--yay!) in two scents: Pomegranate Rasberry (left) and Vanilla Bean (right).

And last but certainly not least, I spotted a new Tone Body Wash fragrance that I haven't seen anywhere else yet in my area:

White Clay & Pink Jasmine? I love it! And look at the pretty holographic pink design on this bottle. I had to take a quick sniff and...I have to tell you, this one is delightful! It's a soft, sweet floral that seems perfect for spring. Can't wait until this goes on sale because I love the formula of Tone's body washes.

A Target girl goes to Walmart...

I've never tried to hide the fact that, if faced with the choice, I will shop at Target any day over Walmart. For many reasons, I just prefer Target over Walmart, and I very rarely visit my local Walmart (which would explain why I rarely mention Walmart on Nouveau Cheap--sorry to you Walmart fans!).

But after hearing so many of you talk about All You Magazine (which can only be purchased at Walmart, to my knowledge, but I could very well be wrong!), I braved the crowds and visited my local Walmart the other day to get a copy (the last time I had been there was last year when Walmart started selling Hard Candy cosmetics).

Since shopping at Walmart is a rarity for me, I decided to make this trip worth my while and do a full investigation of their beauty section.

First, I FINALLY found the elusive Dove Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena body mist I have been scouring my local drugstores for (click here to see how crazy I am about this body wash).

While not an exact duplication of the scent of the body wash, this mist was still lovely enough for me to buy without hesitation. This scent is tart, sweet, refreshing and I swear I would drink it if I could. If you are a tart fruit scent lover, you need to sniff this one ASAP. I haven't stopped wearing it since I bought it.

Next, I also spotted these new Dial hand soaps (I am such a sucker for new hand soap scents, and I'm also a sucker for interesting bottle shapes, so I had to get these):

Dial Vanilla Creme & Soy Extract Hand Soap and Dial Cherry Blossom & Almond Hand Soap (retail: $1.47 each at Walmart)

What really drew me to these new scents is that fact that neither one smelled like I expected it to smell. When I see the words "vanilla creme" and "hand soap" I usually can predict that it will smell very synthetic and not at all like vanilla. I was wrong about this one, because to me, it smells like almond cream (maybe this has to do with the fact that it contains almond oil and actually no vanilla fragrance, which is kind of funny). It's a nice, creamy almond scent to my nose, and not obnoxious at all.

And when I saw that Dial was bringing cherry blossom and almond together in one scent, I knew I had to get it (who doesn't love the smell of the original formula Jergen's lotion?). But I was quickly surprised to discover that this scent is not a dupe of Jergen's, but actually a very soft, milky scent that I found surprisingly unique. Definitely give these two a sniff when you spot them!

Next, I remembered one of my lovely Twitter followers had told me a while back that Pure Ice released a new collection of nail colors. Sadly, the new collection at my Walmart was almost completely wiped out, but I did manage to snag this new shade, which immediately caught my eye:

Holographic micro-glitter floating in a swimming pool-blue base? I am ALL over it. I'll definitely swatch this one so please check back--and please don't spoil it for me in the comments and tell me this color is awful! I haven't seen any reviews or swatches yet and I want to be surprised when I try it. :)

So after putting the above products in my shopping basket, I made my way to the checkout lines and stumbled across a big display with little "First Look" tester bottles of the new Pantene collection (click here for the details of Pantene's makeover, in case you missed it). I couldn't resist these little "Try Me" packages for $1.97, so this one went into my basket:

They're going to be releasing a whole slew of new styling products as well as these new shampoos and conditioners soon. And last but not least, I finally got my copy of All You Magazine. Yay!!

If you are not familiar with All You, it's a monthly magazine that is filled to the BRIM (I mean just about every other page) with fantastic coupons that are NOT exclusive to Walmart. Yes, there are a few Walmart-exclusive coupons here, but 95% can be used anywhere. And these coupons are GOOD, folks. Most are for $2, and there are BOGOFREE coupons as well. Oh, and thanks to the lovely Cheapalicious for pointing out that in this very issue, there is a coupon for $5 off a $10 purchase of NYC Cosmetics! My head is spinning when I think of the ways you can maximize your savings with just that coupon alone!

Aside from amazing coupons, each issue is filled with other money-saving tips and tricks, lifestyle advice, and sooo much more. I read mine cover-to-cover the other night and I am very excited to try some of these tips, such as how to maximize your savings at your local dollar store (love that!).

Like the cover says, this magazine pays for itself and then some (each copy is just $2.24). But if you don't want to buy the actual magazine, definitely check out the website. There are great printable coupons there (including lots of beauty products) and most are for either $1 or $2 off.

That's it for my Walmart report. I think I'm set for the next six months or so until I hear about something else that becomes irrisitable and I find myself in a Walmart store once again!

Spotted at Target (Part 2)

I mentioned yesterday that I spotted so many new bath and body products at my local Target the other day that I couldn't fit them all into one post. So here is part two of my recent discoveries--I hope you find some goodies here that you're excited to check out at your local Target. Our options for new, affordable springtime bath and body products are mind-numbing right now!

Kings & Queens has come to Target!! If you haven't heard of Kings & Queens, please check back tomorrow because I will be posting a review of the product I bought (featured above--can you guess what it is?). I rarely, if ever, purchase things at full-price, but when I took one whiff of this particular Kings & Queens product, it HAD to be mine. More on that tomorrow...

Have you seen this new B&B brand called Savour? Some of you may remember a while back that I was talking about how much I love the Orbit Mint Mojito flavored gum, and how I wished that someone would make a shampoo or body wash in this scent. Well, guess what? Savour has Mint Mojito body products! I was FREAKING OUT when I saw this!!

To my nose, their Mint Mojito scent is a little heavy on the mint and weaker on the mojito, but heck, I'll take it! Also, there are some other very yummy scents in this line, such as Buttercream Cupcake, Raspberry Gelato, ChocoLatte, and my personal favorite so far, Margarita Sunrise:

I took a whiff of the body mist and OMG OMG OMG. OK, first, it doesn't really smell like a margarita to me, but what it DOES smell like is 7-Up! It's got this sweet, bubbly, effervescent, citrus scent about it that is pure 7-Up to my nose and I freaking LOVE it! If you're a bubbly, citrus scent lover, you have GOT to check this one out. It's amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Have you seen these new Aveeno products yet? Blueberry + Goji Berry (my favorite), Vanilla + Chamomile, and Grapefruit + Rosemary scented body lotions! The price made me step back a minute though (ouch!), especially for such a small bottle (11 oz), so definitely keep your eyes peeled for coupons and sales if you want to give these a shot.

OK, have you seen the new Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena Dove Body Wash yet? I didn't even know about this scent until I saw it during this trip, and there were only two bottles left (as you can see in the pic above) so I had a hunch it was probably pretty good.

I had NOOOO idea how good it would be, ladies. OMG, if you are a fruity/tart/sweet/citrus person, you HAVE to give this one a whiff. My problem with most Dove products is that, no matter what the scent it, they tend to always have that underlying "Dove" scent to them. That's not a bad thing, but it's usually present in their body washes and soaps. But this one? No "Dove" scent at all. This body wash smells like pure, sweet pomegranate juice! It's tart, it's citrusy, it's sweet, it's just a whole lotta YUM, if you ask me. It really does smell like you cracked open a bottle of pomegranate juice--I can't explain it any better than that.

And the best part? It's on sale at Target this week:

Like I said before, if you are a person who loves tart, sweet, citrusy, berry scents, get your booty to Target this week--I think you will LOVE this new body wash! I bought one and I am totally obsessed to the point of coveting it.

After a discovery like that, it's kind of hard to come down and talk about other body washes, but I did want to metion that Dial has two new interesting scents that may appeal to you. On the left is "Cherry Seed Oil & Mint" and on the right is "Grape Seed Oil & Lemongrass". I like that these are pretty unusual fragrance combinations, and to me they both smell very clean and refreshing. I might pick up the Cherry Seed body wash if I get a good coupon. Definitely give these a sniff the next time you're at Target and let me know what you think!

And finally, I had to snap some pics of some clearance baskets I spotted at my local Target:

Essie polishes for $3.98! Obviously these are all pretty much pinks and reds, but still fun to dig through.

All the mini tubes of Weleda are on clearance (Skin Food, etc.) and the Yes to Carrots lip glosses and tinted lip balms are all reduced to $1.62. You can also see that there are a few Boots products in this bin (eyeshadows, mostly) but they weren't reduced to insane prices (most of them were still around $5 each).

And finally, because I just have to rave about this, my brother and I went to lunch yesterday at a local Korean restaurant, and I had the MOST amazing vegetarian tofu soup I have ever had in my life. There were potatoes, three kinds of mushrooms and delectable little silky pieces of tofu throughout this soup, which comes in a sizzling clay pot to your table. If you've in San Diego, you probably know that there are two Korean tofu houses on Convoy St. and I'm having hard time deciding which one is better...this soup blew my mind!
