Over the past few months, I've accumulated some polishes that I haven't yet shown you, so today I thought I'd put them all together into one big picture-spam post.
First up:
L'Oreal Hudson Sunset from the New York Nudes Collection
L'Oreal Hudson Sunset, which is a part of the Limited Edition New York Nudes Collection, is one of the only polishes in this post that I happily paid full price for. This was the one color in the collection that spoke to me and I don't have anything quite like it. It's like the color of dulce de leche on the nails and I LOVE it, which really surprised me. I was afraid that it would lean too terracotta (which I don't like) but I think it's definitely more dulce de leche/caramel. This one's a bit streaky on the first coat, but my pics are of two coats and I think it's pretty opaque after two. No issues with application, aside from the streakiness.
Wet n Wild Magnetic Nail Color in Drawn Together By Force
If you don't live near a Rite Aid and missed my original post from a while back, you might think that the Wet n Wild Magnetics are brand new since they're just now showing up at Walgreens. However, they've been on shelves at Rite Aid for so long now that they have already been moved to 50% off clearance at my local Rite Aid. I was able to get the only shade I really wanted, Drawn Together By Force, for 50% off ($2.50 instead of $4.99). No other collection of drugstore magnetics seems to offer a true, Christmas green--all of the others I've seen are more olive/golden green--so I was really happy to get this one on clearance. And boy it's a stunner!
As with all of my other magnetic polishes, this one seems to work best by applying one thin coat and then immediately hovering the magnet over your wet nail. But beware: Drawn Together By Force is a stainer. Sheesh, my nails were green for a few days after wearing this one, even though I applied base coat first.
LA Girl Fruity Scented Nail Polish in Zesty Citrus
What's there not to love about a glass-flecked neon yellow jelly that smells like fresh lemons? And it doesn't hurt that I got this on 50% off clearance at Rite Aid, to boot. I wish the flecks were more pronounced in my pics but the sunlight kind of washed them out. In these pics, I first applied a white creme base coat, followed by two coats of Zesty Citrus. I can't wait to do a jelly sandwich with this one soon.
Color Club Hydrangea from the Blossoming Collection
I purchased Hydrangea back in May when the Color Club Blossoming Collection first started to show up at Rite Aid. This is another one I happily paid full price for, since hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers (right after peonies and dahlias). I love everything about this color, except for the formula. Very streaky and sheer on the first coat, better by the second but it really requires a third (which is what you see in these pics). I like my cremes to be buttery and opaque after the first coat, so that was a letdown but I'll deal with it for this shade.
Revlon ColorStay Rain Forest
You all know the story about how long I've been wanting Rain Forest and exactly how I got it this week. Boy was it worth the wait. Nearly opaque after one coat, two coats is absolute perfection. The only complaint I have is that the formula can be a bit goopy, so just pay extra attention to wiping your brush down after every dip back into the bottle or else you can end up with unexpected globs dripping down your brush (and onto your nail). I know that some of you were on the fence about getting this color and my message to you: GET IT while it's still on sale this week at Walgreens. It is so gorgeous in person that I can't stop staring at my nails right now. PS: no staining after removal (at least for me!).
L'Oreal VIP Status from the LA Entourage Collection
Here's another one that I managed to get on 50% off clearance at Rite Aid. VIP Status was part of the limited edition LA Entourage Collection from this Spring and it really didn't wow me at full price, but for a couple of bucks? Why not? It actually ended up looking more beautiful on the nail than I thought it would. The formula's a bit thick but not disastrous. These pics are after two coats.
Sally Hansen In A Flurry (limited edition)
(Sorry about the smudge on my pinkie--I only realized it was there after I took these pics.) In a Flurry is part of this limited edition Sally Hansen collection that first started popping up in stores this July. I had to search my booty off for In A Flurry and finally ended up finding it at a CVS four towns over from where I live. I got so wrapped up in the universal love for this color, but guess what? I'm not really feeling this one, folks. I mean, I love the iridescent glitter in the blackened base, but the glitter is so fine that it really isn't a show-stopper to me when seen with the naked eye. The good news is that it doesn't look bumpy (or feel bumpy) in real life--I know it looks super bumpy in my pics but I promise it's not. Two coats yield decent opacity, which is what you see in these pics.
Essie Bordeaux
And last but certainly not least, I managed to get Bordeaux for 75% off at Rite Aid a few months ago (talk about lucky!) and I have to say, this is one of my favorite red jellies of all time. Since it's a jelly, it does require three coats for decent opacity, but it's so worth it.
Look at this jelly goodness:
Thanks so much for reading, and I would love to hear if you own any of these polishes (or plan on buying them in the future). What's on your drugstore polish wishlist right now?
Love In A Flurry! Hopefully, I can still find it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can too...it was hard for me to track down.
DeleteI see the reflection of the clouds and sun in the red jelly. :) That's so squishy cool.
ReplyDeleteAaah, I didn't even notice that! :)
DeleteLove the Revlon. I just bought a Nicole green nail polish myself at TJ Maxx for 3 bucks!
ReplyDeleteYay, good beauty deals!
Score!
DeleteI didn't care for "In a Flurry" either. Looks awesome in the bottle, not so hot on my nails.
ReplyDeleteGlad i'm not alone!
DeleteI feel the same way about In A Flurry! I searched and searched for it since I saw swatches nearly a month ago and first ally found it last week at CVS. Don't get me wrong, I really like the color, but I think I had somehow built it up so much that there was no way it could meet my ridiculously high expectations I had set lol! I'm glad I got it, but I'm also glad I didn't get a backup, at least not at full price haha.
ReplyDeleteI also got Freeze! from the same display, which is an absolutely gorgeous color! Man I have buying so many polishes lately... :D
Haha! I know exactly what you mean. Happens to me all the time. :)
Deletei bought Rain Forest months ago & forgot all about it. i'm totally busting it out now after seeing your gorgeous swatches!
ReplyDeleteDo it! Do it! ;)
DeleteThese are all so beautiful! By the way, what's the difference between a creme and a jelly polish? I can't tell :(
ReplyDeleteA jelly looks almost transparent, kind of like a bowl of Jello. A creme is opaque and flat. Look at the Color Club polish in this post (a creme) and compare it to the Essie in this post (a jelly) and I think you'll see the difference. Hope that helps!
DeleteI was wondering the same thing! So glad I am not the only one who didn't know.
DeleteThere is also what's called a "jelly creme". That is when a color is not completely transparent, but still has a jello-like "squishiness" to it. Hope that helps.
DeleteThank you that helps so much. I think what threw me off is that your Jellies look opaque in the pics.
DeleteI have Rain Forest and In A Flurry languishing in the untrieds drawer of my helmer.. Well IAF just got there but Rain Forest has been sitting there awhile @_@
ReplyDeleteLol at ” languishing in my untrieds”! I love that. :)
DeleteRain Forest..I have that and love it too!
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteI adore nail polish spam!
ReplyDeleteI have the Revlon and the Sally Hansen but haven't worn them yet. I have several of the Revlons and am impressed with the formula, so if this one turns out to be goopy after trying several that were a dream, I will forgive Revlon and just put a few drops of thinner in it! lol
I can't wait to see a yellow jelly sandwich, that will be awesome!
I have one other colorstay ”languishing in my untrieds” (to steal the awesome phrase above) and I really need to give it a go. I think it's called Velvet Rope....
DeleteWill post pics when I perfect that Sammy! ;)
What is meant by "jelly sandwich?"
DeleteAurelas: you can click here for a full definition of a jelly sandwich (with pictures).
DeleteI got In a Flurry at my local Walgreens so it wasn't too bad, but I'm also not feeling the hype anymore! I'm going to try some layering combos to see if it makes me love it more.
ReplyDeleteYou may have finished convincing me I need Rain Forest :D
Would love to know if you find a killer base to go with it!
DeleteAnd get yourself a bottle of Rain Forest, girlie! ;)
G, I wondering if you have any news on the new Color Club holo collection? You think Rite Aid will have them? I just started seeing them on other blogs and they are looking AMAZING!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I did!! I've been stalking my RAs for it, but so far nothing. Boo!
DeleteThis is a fun post! I bought Hydreanga a while ago. I love blues so much especially this shade. I bought Rain Forest just today and with the $3 reward I bought Revlon Dreamer which is another blue similar to Hydreangea. Lol but what the heck 2 for $6 was fine by me! I cant wait to try Rain Forest! Love the post!
ReplyDeleteYep, that deal is too good to pass up! Can't blame ya one bit. ;)
DeletePSA regarding Revlon Rainforest: it's a near dupe of Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe and China Glaze Glittering Garland. Just wanted to share so others don't mistakenly get polishes they don't need.
ReplyDeleteI love all the other swatches, thanks for sharing :)
Ooooh, that is so good to know! Thanks so much for the great info, hun!!
DeleteI got Rainforest after I saw your bottle on the previous post. At first I didn't think it was for me, too dark. Then I swatched it at one Walgreens and was still kind of on the fence about it. So I left without it. However, when I got outside and looked at it in the daylight and sun, I totally changed my mind and drove to another Walgreens and got it. I also got Revlon Ocean, which is a gorgeous teal with blue leanings. I love teals.
ReplyDeleteLol! Yep, in the sunlight it's amaaaaazing! :)
DeleteI guess I am not the only one who is crazy for polishes lately! I may have to go and get Ocean and Rainforest from Revlon some day then! I am getting into greens and teals lately since I did pick up some polishes from the Wet N Wild Walgreens sale:
ReplyDeleteSagreena the Teenage Witch, Sage in the City, Silvivor (2 of these), Teal or No Teal, another Bufffy the Violet Slayer, Saved by the Blue (2), and Teal of Fortune (2 as well!)
And ordered the China Glaze Prismatics which I just got in the mail today and wearing one on top of my Grew Up in Cobalt from WNW.
Plus, if anyone wants good deals and new ideas for polishes, Hot Topic released the Black Heart line back in May and they have polishes this time around when War Paint didn't. I picked up three of their polishes in the silver crackle, the blue glitter, and purple glitter! They have so many polishes and what's cool with some of them is that some glow in black lights and UV lighting. They're $5 a bottle, which is not bad. Not sure if they are still doing it but if you are trying on any of their jeans, you get a scratch card and if you scratch it you get a discount for doing it and you can use it the same day you try the pants on. You don't have to buy the pants though!
One more thing, G, for the magnet polish staining your fingers, have you tried the polish remover where there's a sponge in the container and stick your finger in and twist? That may help with the stain a bit and get it off better when you get polishes off!
Just giving some heads up! I may get those Revlon polishes in the future then! :)
Sounds like you're a teal freak like me. You must get Ocean. You will drool when you see it! ;)
DeleteThanks for all the great tips, hun! :)
DeleteBordeaux looks gorgeous! Love RED. My favorite color of all time and since I discovered jellie with Essie's Marshmallow, love it even more. I think Bordeaux is definitely a must buy for me :) BTW. Love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteAnd yes, I think you need Bordeaux! Lol! It is so beautiful.
All I could think was that it looked edible and cherry flavoured--yum!
DeleteI bought Rain Forest, too. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYay!!
DeleteOh yes Isis! I guess it started happening when I ended my polish addiction years ago when I got a teal polish and then years later, I started getting teals again! Yes, I must get Ocean! It sounds really nice and the Rainforest one sounds really awesome too. :)
ReplyDeleteTry to get them today, since it's the last day for the Walgreens sale! :)
DeleteBTW, I also got Revlon Naughty, which is the new name of Perplex. I saw your post about "Perplex" and had to have it; it reminds me of Winterberry, actually. It's not HTF under the new name, Naughty. Wow, what a gorgeous color!
DeleteI just picked up VIP Status at Walgreens for $1.49!!! Yay hidden clearance gems!!
ReplyDeleteHow can you tell that a polish is a jelly? Does it say so on the bottle or is it just a by sight kind of thing?
ReplyDeleteSaw L'oréal Hudson Sunset at my local Grocery Outlet (my new fave spot for bargain makeup... dorky, I know =)) for $2 but passed on it at the time because although it was beautiful, I've never really thought of myself as a "brown" nail polish person. But the carmelly color did catch my eye... and it was only $2... and if you like it, G, then I might have to grab it! =)
