Makeup and Nail Polish Lovers: GET THEE TO KMART ASAP

If you have a Kmart nearby (or even if it's a little drive) it could be VERY worth your while to get over to your nearest Kmart...STAT! As I mentioned a few days ago, Kmart is currently overhauling their makeup and nail polish department IN A BIG WAY, so they're clearancing out the old to make way for the new (and the new stuff is just as exciting!).

I have compiled some great information from several readers below about new product sightings, clearance sightings and rare, discontinued nail polish sightings now popping up at Kmarts across the country. Take a look!

First, the clearance sightings:

Massive Beauty Clearance Sighting at Kmart
  • Reader Gabby (@gabmirandaaa on Instagram) told me that she spotted "ELEVEN buckets of just about 50% marked down polish, with just about every brand (Milani, SO MANY Revlon, NOPI, Sally Hansen, etc)." at her local Kmart last week.

Meanwhile, in the permanent displays at Kmart:
  • Reader Gabby (@gabmirandaaa on Instagram) told me that she spotted several new, permanent displays at her Kmart last week, including a new OPI display (which you'll see in a minute). But here's the best part! Gabby said that "What makes this OPI section REALLY cool is that there are SO MANY old, discontinued and hard to find ones in there...I found "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and snatched it up SO quick!"
  • Reader Patricia commented here on the blog the other day about how she found old polishes mixed with new at her Kmart recently. For example, she found some Sinful Colors polishes with the old caps mixed in with the newer Sinful Colors polishes in the permanent Sinful display.
  • Reader Jennifer on Facebook told me that she found an older, discontinued China Glaze polish in the new permanent display at her Kmart the other day.

And here's some info about NEW products/lines/permanent displays at Kmart:
  • Reader Unknown left a comment on the You Tell Me page a little while back letting us know that, at her local Kmart, "they have done a large reset in the cosmetics department featuring brand new permanent displays of Rimmel and Jordana including all the new products (but unfortunately sacrificing the Jordana single shadows which is a shame, it was the only place that carried them.) The Rimmel display included the NEW HD shadows...they also had a new Bonnie Bell display with the new lipsticks and glosses."

Whew! I think that the moral of this story is: Get your little booties over to Kmart ASAP and see what you can find!

Oh and don't forget that Kmart is also where the new NYC Limited Edition City Bloom Collection, the new Sally Hansen Limited Edition Color Destinations Insta-Dri Collection and the new Bonne Bell nail polishes, lipsticks, glosses and lip balms were spotted too (I still own you a review of those new balms, which I'll try to get up this week). And reader @msluckydee13 also just spotted the new Black Radiance Limited Edition Loose Eyeshadows & Primers at her Kmart, as well as the new Rimmel Limited Edition Sweetie Crush Collection and the Sally Hansen Limited Edition Color Vibrations Insta-Dris (click here for her haul pic). Kmart is on fire right now, Nouvettes!

Have you spotted anything noteworthy at YOUR local Kmart recently? Please share below!

Thanks again to @thisiscolbyspeaking, @beauty2shoozzz, @gabmirandaaa, Patricia, Jennifer, Unknown, Renee and @msluckydee13 for the fantastic information and pics. I really appreciate it!

  1. Kmart is one of my favorite drugstore cosmetics place to shop, they seem to get limited edition items from wet n wild, rimmel, Sally Hansen, etc that I had not seen elsewhere, plus they aren't always careful about getting rid of old stuff so I've found some very nice rimmel polish from years ago. The closest Kmart to me closed, but I'll be checking out at least one this weekend! Thanks for the heads up!

    1. You are very welcome! And yes, I LOVE that you can find random, older products there sometimes! :)

  2. I was at my Kmart when they were unpacking the OPI and China Glaze polishes the end of last month. I walked away with China Glaze C-C-Courageous and OPI in The Impossible and My Private Jet (not the old formula though). I thought that OPI wasn't supposed to be sold in these types of stores though... hmmm. Thanks for the reminder, I think it's worth a trip to check again to see what I can get marked down for sure.

    1. OPI has widened their distribution in the last year or so. They are now sold at Walmart, Kmart, Sally Beauty and more CVS locations than before (in addition to all the other retailers where you've been able to find them in the past).

    2. You can also find OPI at some Walgreens. It's not a regular item but comes from a vendor so it varies. Higher end stores will have it.

    3. Some Meijers now carry OPI too

  3. You are my fave person, Miss G!

Tonight... Kmart, walgreens, the supermarket for more yummy strawberries. Clearance bins here I come...

And youI know I will report back...

  4. My Kmart seemed to have a lot of old stuff mixed with new. I'm not familiar with the NOPI polishes but when I looked one up, it first came out in 2012, Shoot for the Maroon and it was mixed with other NOPI's but it was on a display shelf and it was two displays that didn't go with everything there. I've no idea what was what, everything was just put wherever. And like I said with Sinful might apply with each brand. Especially if it's an older store. Mine is in a bad neighborhood and no idea how it's open still. But the department was a wreck. Nothing was in the right slots. And it wasn't just from customers. There would be a row of 5 of the same color in the wrong color slot. But it was almost closing time so I didn't have a chance to look for a clearance section. But based on their deparment having old stuff mixed in I was hoping clearence would be awesome. Maybe tonight I can go back.

  5. Does anybody know where I can find the Bonnebell lip gloss 'strawberry parfait' anywhere other than eBay? My Walmart no longer carries Bonnebell! :(((

  6. Went to my Kmart today in search of two things: the LE NYC collection (which they did not have :() and the Sally Hansen Insti-Dry Moroccan colors (which they did have :)). Passed by the clearance section and stopped in my tracks! There were bins and bins full of stuff! I scored Essie Apricot cuticle oil and No Chips Ahead for $4 each. Very excited about that! Also, all the Bongo brand polishes/lipglosses were 50% off too. I got a polish for $2.24. Definitely worth checking out if you have a Kmart in your area.

  7. I'd have so much fun going through all of those polishes! Too bad the Kmart close to where I live went out of business several years ago, but apparently there's another that's about thirty minutes away. Maybe I'll go check it out now!

  8. I was just at my Kmart looking for the new NYC collection (no luck.) But they do have several shelves jammed full of cosmetics at 50-60% off. There was a whole basket of the old square bottle Rimmel polishes, piles of Revlon nail polishes, blushes, powders, and various shades of lip butters. I bought 2- they were 3.50. Of course, it was all jumbled in piles, but if you are willing to dig, you will find good stuff.

  9. If you live in the Colorado Springs CO area, the KMART on Powers Blvd is closing, so you may be able to luck up with a huge clearance section and massive markdowns across the whole store. Its deff worth checking out! The sightings above are great!

  10. I wish KMart was close to me! It would definitely be shopping time there!!!!

  11. awesome! I wish we had a kmart near us but ours closed out 6 months ago...

  12. I'm pretty sure that one shelf of that clearance in the picture is more polish than the closest KMart to me has lol. Last time I was in there, I didn't see anything except a long line at the single register open. I might go check it out this weekend, though.

  14. I went to a KMART today in the Long Beach,CA area looking for the Rimmel colour rush lip balms because I had gone to 12 stores and had not found them and I was so happy I found them! They also had the new eyeshadow palletes and those new liquid eyeshadows! :)

  15. I just came from Kmart, and their clearance was an additional 50% off! Scored a whole bunch of revlon polishes for 40 cents!

  16. Hot damn, Colby's gorgeous!
And thanks to your tip I nabbed Revlon Whimsical and lip butters Juicy Papaya and Sorbet (they seem to have more than just the discontinued shades for sale) for 50% PLUS I have a $1 off revlon cosmetic coupon just hanging out in my bag waiting to be used!

  17. Hey G - It's funny how this is my first comment out of all of your posts (I've been reading for over a year now) but I had to tell you something funny! I'm an Australian reader and absolutely love the blog, and I just thought it was funny how, at exactly the same time as you guys, all Kmarts across Australia have completely done a massive overhaul too! I've been into a couple and they've packaged all their items up and they've introduced their own line of makeup that includes nail polish and different finishes of lipstick. It'll be interesting to see what things you get in America!

{Gotta say, I also love the blog. As I said, I've been following for a while now, but never thought to post. Love love love it though, and keep up the good work! I can't wait to visit the US and check out all your amazing makeup!)

  18. I can't believe I found a large display of Miliani at Kmart the other day. First time I have seen this in my area.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm not sure if the older OPI polishes are "old" per se... I've seen Princesses Rule! at Sally, CVS, and Walmart... Perhaps as they enter these new stores, they'e bringing some of these shades back? Don't get me wrong... I'm not complaining!!!

  20. SNAP. I know where I'm going today!

    1. Came away with Milani Fantastico Mauve baked blush for $3.50 and two Revlon nail polishes (Scandalous and Whimsical) for $2.50 each. Yay!

  21. Kmart in Beaverton OR has a ton of Revlon on clearance. That was about it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I saw a TON of revlon lip butters in fig jam, creme brulee, wild watermelon, pink truffle, and red velvet all marked down to 3.50!!! Not sure if these shades are gonna be discontinued because they are no longer in the permanent displays.
Also, saw those Maybelline color sensatonal glosses for 1.80
Bongo lip glosses are marked down to like 2 dollars each
Lots of Revlon and Almay foundations marked down
Lots of NEW jordana baked single eyeshadows and new lipstick shades I Saw too.
My kmart does not have NYC or Milani so bummer there.
But be on the lookout for those lip butters!

  23. I just picked up Milani baked blush in Red Vino for 3.50, Revlon lip butters in Fig Jam and Pink Truffle for 3.50 each, and L'Oreal Infallible shadows in Bottomless Java, Liquid Diamond, Smoldering Plum, Glistening Garnet, and Golden Emerald for 4.00 each.

  25. I stopped by the trashy kmart today (I swearm you go there and kinda worry about walkers, it's so run down looking). they didn't have a lot like the picture, but they did have quite a few essie, revlon (polish and makeup), and Nopi in bins. Unfortunately, their opi display was completely empty, nothing in clearance either. Gonna stop by the better Kmart tomorrow and see what they have :)

  26. Hey G! My K-mart in Jacksonville, North Carolina had a lot of clearance but not at really amazing prices :( They had the magnetic sally hansens for 3+ dollars and revlons for like $4. I wasn't impressed. But oh well! Thank you for encouraging me to wake up from my mid-day nap and getting out of the house!! lol

    1. Same here... additionally, Essie was $4. Girl there said they no longer carry it... gets stolen more than sold.

      I bought...

Wet wild Megalast... 3 for 99 cents each, one I already have, maybe all 3, but I like them... they make good gifts. Or I'll just keep them.

Milan glitters... 7 @ $2 each. Blue flash might be a dupe, but it's so pretty I don't care.

There were 7 bins of clearance, usually only 2, so this was good compared to other clearance times (which is twice a year I was told).

Tonight was a fun Kmart experience. Nice people and good nail polish. It makes ME happy.

    2. I also took home all of the NYC new limited edition polishes and 2 applicious lip balms.

  27. ...I have already spent WAAAY too much money at the clearance section at Kmart these past few days. XD But some of the stuff I bought wasn't on clearance: it was from the new L. A. Colors section at my local Kmart. L. A. Colors has definitely come a long way. They have lipsticks that actually have color to them. (here's where I would input an exclamation point if my cat hadn't clawed the damn thing off of my keyboard...long story...) But the thing I've been most impressed with lately are a certain selection of their eyeshadows. At one point, at one of my local Rite Aids, they had two palettes with maybe 24 or so shades of eyeshadow in round pans. The shades seemed quite enticing but what really struck me was the almost velvet-like appearance of these eyeshadows. I figured what the hell considering the ridiculously low price...and now have backups of each of those palettes...and also have backups of the 30 pan palettes that they recently just came out with...and will probably be buying a backup of one of the three 16 pan palettes that they're now offering. Namely the palette in "Smokin" which has some of the most beautiful and well pigmented jewel tones; I'm telling you, guys, these things are Urban Decay quality. I know that seems like a bit of an exaggeration but the soft texture, the intense pigmentation...I love these. I really do. And for a purple eyeshadow freak like me, the two purples in this palette are damn impressive performers, especially the deeper of the two. Oh, and there's a brights palette with practically neon shades but also a neutrals palette for those who prefer their earthtones and such. Well worth a look.

  28. Went to my kmart today(Corvallis OR). They didn't have any clearance section. Only the same single bin with old/opened hardly marked down makeup. Bummer. I guess it just wasn't meant to be for me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Didn't see a clearance section, where would it be in most stores? I rarely go to Kmart since the closest one closed?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Went to the Kmart in Charlotte, NC. There were only 3 small bins of clearance makeup.
I got Revlon PhotoReady Bronzer in 100 Bronzed & Chic, L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bottomless Java, Maybelline Baby Lips in Minty Sheer and Fierce n Tangy.

I wanted some Revlon Lip Butters, but there weren't any at all.

  31. I live in Chicago, and my roommate and I decided to hit up the Blackhawk and Ashland K-Mart today (also accessible from the Ashland and Milwaukee intersection).

They had a decent sized clearance section with several bins. The majority of the clearance items were different kinds of concealer and powder, but there were a decent amount of polishes and even some lip butters.

Be warned, though, that a lot of the clearance section items were not marked down to final price. Some of them did not have prices at all, others were stamped with original price stickers. When we got to the checkout, they did ring up correctly. You shouldn't have a problem in the end.

There were also major sales going on with Maybelline, Revlon, Rimmel, and NYC. Some of these were "Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off" and others were "$1 Off" every product in that line. I also have a few coupons for Cover Girl and Revlon that I printed a few weeks back off coupons.com and are still good until April. If you combined a few of these deals, you might be able to knock a few extra dollars off your final purchase.

Sadly, there was no O.P.I. in the clearance. I was also looking forward to finding some of the new Sally Hansen products that have been popping up, but nothing either. In the end, my roommate and I brought home the NYC "Top of the Gold" glitter top coat, two Revlon lip butters for $3 each, some eye liner, and a Revlon "Whimsical" nail polish for $2.50.

Overall, there are a few things here for those who want the casual addition to their make up collection. I would say that the sale mainly benefits those out there who need to pick up new concealer or nail polish as a part of their normal beauty shopping. The prices are definitely better than the ones these products normally retail at!

  32. I checked two Kmarts in NYC one had clearance bins but the items didn't intrigue me and they were mostly opened and used ... bummer the other location had no bins so ill re-check this week hopefully i can find some good items!

  33. after seeing everyone's comments, and reading about a few gems being found, especially On Her Majesty's Secret Service, I went to my Kmart (Wilmington Delaware), and found some absolute gems myself! I found my very own On Her Majesty's Secret Service, You Only Live Twice, and My Vampire is Buff, among some other random Revlon's and Essie's. I couldn't believe my luck! Thank you so much for posting about this, so that all of us polish addicts can find some of our lemmings and some amazing deals!!
