I think the last time I posted a birthday mani was back in 2010, when the Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday dupes first started hitting the drugstores (I went a bit crazy with Milani Gems). I wasn't going to do any blog posts today (as I mentioned a few days ago, this week I'm really trying to stay off the computer and take some time for myself) but since my b-day is today and I REALLY love my manicure, I just had to share!
I own my entire manicure to my pal Emi over at Project Swatch. In the comments on my post about the new shades from the Revlon Bubble Gum Days Urban Nights Collection that I purchased, she suggested that I try the shade Heavenly in a jelly sandwich. I never would have thought to use Heavenly in a jelly sandwich manicure, but WOW is it stunning. So thanks, Emi, for the fantastic tip!
Zoya Frida (retail: $8, 0.5 oz)
Revlon Heavenly (retail: $4.99, 0.5 oz)
By the way, if you're new to jelly sandwiches, it's basically when
you layer a glitter polish in between two (or more) layers of a jelly
polish. You can see some of my favorite jelly sandwich manicures here, here and here.
Keep reading for pics of my Jelly Sandwich Birthday Mani...
For this mani, I applied one coat of Zoya Frida, then one coat of Revlon Heavenly, followed by two additional coats of Zoya Frida and one coat of quick-dry top coat:
I just love the depth and translucency of this manicure. The little pieces of iridescent glitter are suspended in the beautiful teal jelly of Frida, and it almost makes them look like sea glass in the ocean.
Thanks again, Emi, for the great suggestion. I will certainly be rocking this mani again in the future!
Hope you're all having a great week, and I'll be back soon with lots and lots of new posts. I also want to send an extra-special thanks to everyone who left such sweet birthday wishes on the Weekly Drugstore Makeup Sale post. Your comments have brought a smile to my face every single day this week, and I wish I could give you all giant bear-hugs and kisses right now! xo
