Review: Calgon Sensual Collection Mist Sampler Gift Set

Back in March, I shared a preview of the Sensual Collection from Calgon, and today I'd like to review the Sampler Gift Set, which I was given recently for review. I think sampler sets for fragrance are always a fun way to try out a few different scents before determining whether or not you'd like to make a full-size purchase, and this one's quite economical at $4.99 per set (plus there's a printable $1 off coupon here). You should have seen the look on my face when I spotted this new Calgon fragrance at Rite Aid the other day. Red velvet cake body mist? That's just not something you see every day at the drugstore (I know that red velvet fragrances are available in products made by indie bath & body etailers, but never have I seen red velvet in a drugstore product!).

New bath and body collections from Calgon

Since I'm an absolute bath and body product fanatic, it's not surprising that I'm very excited about the new collections from Calgon that are set to launch this June (I loved their 2010 makeover, which I showed you here).  Today I've got all of the details on the new collections, directly from Calgon's PR:

The Calgon Sensual Collection will be sold nationally in retail stores and on the brand’s e-commerce site beginning in June 2011. The collection includes:

Fragrance Mist (4 oz.)

Silkening Double Mist (6 oz.)

(a dual-phased mist with extra conditioners that leaves your skin feeling silky smooth)

Shimmering Moisture Mist (4 oz.)

(a formula with luminous pearls that leaves your skin glowing and sparkling)

Swirl Luminous Body Cream (5 oz.)

(a blend of cream and shimmering gel, leaving your skin soft and radiant)

All products will be available in three fragrances:

Flirty Tease

(playful and provocative with an enchanting blend of sparkling red currant, orange blossom and exotic Egyptian jasmine)

Femme Inferno

(fiery and seductive with a hypnotic blend of pink pepper, vivid bergamot and lily of the valley)

Angelic Kiss

(romantic and ethereal, with a creamy blend of golden bergamot, mandarin zest and oriental floral heart)

The Silkening Double Mists and Shimmering Moisture Mists are innovative formulas and one of the first of its kind in the mass market. The collection is housed in custom made packaging featuring luxurious details such as highlighted “kiss” lips and metalized applicators resulting in a an upscale look and feel.

The anti-aging bath line, called Ageless Bath, includes 16 oz. Bath Pearls, 24 oz. Bath Body Scrub and Soak and 26 oz. Milk Bath with Serum Beads. 

All products are created with Calgon’s exclusive Vita-Pearl technology, a unique blend of Vitamin E, Pearl Powder and Collagen, which helps provide antioxidant protection, luminosity and dryness relief.

With the Renewing Bath Pearls, dull skin is immediately brightened and skin tone and texture are visibly improved leaving a woman’s skin looking young and fresh. 

The 2-in-1 Bath and Body Scrub exfoliates dead skin cells and relaxes the body revealing radiant skin. 

The Milk Bath is infused with serum beads, which helps comfort the skin while fighting visible signs of aging.

Calgon's 2010 Makeover (plus new products!)

A little while ago I showed you some pics of the newly-redesigned Calgon collection (if you missed it, click here). I was lucky enough to recently receive some new Calgon products to try, but instead of just showing you the products, I have to first show you how these products arrived to me, because it's just so darned cute!

It's a mini travel bag, complete with its own luggage tag. How cute is this?

If you were a fan of Calgon's Body Lotion (click here to see the old lotion, which is still actually available in many retail locations and online) I don't think you're going to be disappointed with this new formula. One of the things that really surprised me is that, unlike many other scented body lotions that you can find at the drugstore, Calgon's new Nourishing Body Cream is not thin or watery, and it actually delivers on the moisture. It's formulated with Vitamins A and E and aloe, and it goes on smoothly and keeps my skin feeling soft (and smelling wonderful) for hours. If you're a fan of lotions that double as fragrance, I think you might like this one.

Also, I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but this was my very first experience with Calgon's Morning Glory scent! I usually gravitate toward Marshmallow when I reach for Calgon (which smells divine, btw) but I was pleasantly surprised to find that Morning Glory is a very clean, wearable fragrance which, for me, is an ideal "work scent" because it's just a soft, refreshing fragrance that I don't think would annoy anyone. I can't count how many times I've slathered on a lotion at work and had someone say, "Did someone just make cupcakes? What is that smell??" lol!

Most good recessionistas already love Calgon, right? Aside from being super affordable, their bath and body products are just downright fun. There's a reason why "Calgon, take me away!" has been a saying I've used more times in my life than I can count.
