Huge thanks to reader Mia for this one. Mia spotted the new Mod Quad Baked Eye Shadows at her local Walmart this week and was nice enough to share some pics. Take a look...

There are five quads total in this collection, and they're already up on the Walmart website here. From the Walmart website:
Hard Candy Mod Quad Baked Eye Shadow Compact offers four baked eye shadows in a palette that creates sultry smokin' hot looks. With a little bit of water, these eye shadows go from sheer to high foil metallic finish.

The moment I saw Mia's pics I thought, "Why do these look so familiar?" So I dug through my archives and sure enough, Hard Candy released limited edition baked eyeshadow palettes for Holiday 2010 (trios and 9-pans).
Have you spotted these new baked eyeshadows at your local Walmart yet? Thoughts?
Thanks so much, Mia, for the great scoop and pics! I really appreciate it!
Haven't seen them yet, but I'm lucky...I am in 4 to 5 different Walmarts each week. I can look almost every day. (Doesn't seem right that I'm bragging about being in all those Walmarts. I'm not crazy; I just do merchandising there)
ReplyDeleteLol! Hey, it's "work " ;)
DeleteThose look pretty.. I've had good luck with HC baked shadows in the past, hopefully these are the same formula. Are they permanent?
ReplyDeleteYes, I believe these are in the permanent display. :)
DeleteI did see these and just seeing something new I grabbed them right away. But the more I looked the less impressed I was. Even if the were nice they weren't anything special or different than elf or WNW baked blushes.
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of the Wet 'n' Wild baked palettes. Remember those? They had 6-shades but they look just like them.
ReplyDeleteMeh. I don't really like baked shadows, and these don't even have the plus of being all pretty and marbled.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a fan of baked shadows myself, but if you wet a brush (I like to use sterile eye drops) it gives much better payoff. They remind me of the Physicians Formula baked sweets or whatever they were called, I think those were trios though... btw- G., the front shot of the Pink Interlude isn't showing up...there's a little box with a blue question mark??? Not sure if its just on my end here, or if anyone else is having trouble viewing the pic? I looked at it from the Walmart site, and it looks like that one would be my pick of the bunch...that and Brownie Points.
DeleteI bought the pinky/maroon one and it's crud. :-( There is NO pigmentation to it!!
ReplyDeleteI really like these so far! They are kind of unimpressive dry, but wet they seem great! I have wet and dry swatches for four of the palettes on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen them, but the color selections look really good
ReplyDeleteI bought the pink one, and wound up returning it. I like baked shadows, and I don't mind building the color since I always wear them dry and by their nature they are less pigmented that way, but these were very dry and flaky.. not chalky or powdery, but flakes of color with a rough texture. The darkest was especially bad, hardly any pigmentation just a sheer wash with flakes of rather large glitter. I have seen wet swatches and they do appear to perform well that way, but I have too many other baked shadows that do not require wet application to look nice. The elf baked shadows for example are far superior, and Palladio has baked trios that are $1 more and are very smooth and more pigmented. HC can make nice baked shadows, their older duos are lovely. It's a shame because the colors are gorgeous, and they are nice combinations with a good variance of light to dark.
