Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in shade no. 17 is now permanent

Shade no. 17 is now in the permanent Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss display

Why is this exciting news? Keep reading for all the details...

Oh the mysteries we encounter at the drugstore! If you've never heard of shade no. 17 in the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss collection, let me get you up to speed:

I believe that no. 17 was originally released in the UK as part of Rimmel's Spring 2012 Lasting Finish Collection. It's a pinky-nude creme and, unlike the regular black tubes in the Lasting Finish by Kate Moss collection that have Kate's signature in red, shade number 17 has her name written in pink, to match the color of the actual lipstick (more on that in a bit).

Shade no. 17 was hard to locate here in the US for a while and you can still find it on ebay where it's touted as "Limited Edition" and "Very Hard To Find." But I'm delighted to tell you that no. 17 is no longer limited edition OR very hard to find, as it is now part of the permanent collection! Huge thanks to longtime reader Tara for sharing some pics of shade no. 17 at CVS:

"NEW"

Kate's signature is in pink, whereas all of the other black tubes in the Lasting Finish by Kate Moss collection have Kate's name in red:

So why is shade no. 17 the only shade in the permanent collection that has Kate's name printed in a color that corresponds to the actual lipstick color? Well the Spring 2013 shades all have Kate's name printed in a shade that corresponds to the lipstick color in the tube. So I guess since no. 17 was originally released as a Spring 2012 in the UK, they just decided to keep Kate's signature in pink, to match the actual lipstick color?

According to this blogger, no. 17 has been in the permanent display at Walgreens since April (she has some great swatches in her post, by the way). Shade no. 17 is also now listed on the Rimmel US website in the permanent collection.

If you can't find shade no. 17 in your area, you can get it at drugstore.com where it's (oddly) placed on the page that contains all of the matte (red tube) shades. Here's a photo of shade no. 17 from the drugstore.com website:

I don't know about you but, after all of this, I think I NEED this shade in my life! As I've said, Rimmel does a fantastic job with pinky-nude cremes (my all-time fave is no.104 from the matte line) and I hope this one's just as good as all of their others. Have you seen the new pinky-nude in the Moisture Renew line yet? It looks gorgeous as well.

Have you seen no. 17 at your CVS or Walgreens yet? Do you think you'll pick one up? Do you already own it? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks so much, Tara, for spotting this and taking the time to share pics with us!

  1. Does anyone know what the scent/fragrance/flavor of these are like?

    1. I own this and I love the color! It almost has a hint of coral in it. The scent, unfortunately, is a little fruity, which I don't enjoy. I still wear and like the lipstick, though!

  2. I didn't even know that this shade had been limited edition. I saw it at the permanent display and I bought it...it's not frosty but it does have a lot of silver microglitters, which I didn't expect from looking at it in the tube. I don't wear it very much for this reason.

  3. Had no idea it was limited edition. I've seen these and a couple other shades from that collection apart of the permanent display for a while now.

  5. I bought shade 17 back in January (here in Canada), and got really confused by the pink signature and the lack of any mention of it online. This explains so much!

  7. I've seen this and didn't even notice it was a Kate lipstick. It was with the regular Lasting Finish lipsticks.

  10. I have had #17 for months now and I love it! It lasts so long and is the perfect "my-lips-but-better" shade for me. I was scared it was a limited edition so I purchased a back-up shortly after buying the first tube of it! Very glad to hear it is now permanent.

  11. I had to chime in here, as I read your other link (to the other Rimmell Matte review). When you talked about Matte 1.0, the drying lipsticks of the '90's (hello, my favorite lipstick was MAC's Verushka) and talked of the gals of 90210, I had to laugh out loud. I too am a child of the '80s and am the same age as the "hillsters" (the first time, not when they repeated their junior year). Funny enough, my dear hubs went to school with Jennie Garth and even got a cheek peck from her when she left mid year to start her life in acting in LA. He mentions that EVERY.TIME she is on TV, to the point that our 8 yr old is so sick of it, lol!

Have you noticed another 90's reboot: the dark lipliner? I've seen it more as that "ombre" lip, but it totally reminds me of that dark lipliner action, that thankfully I never rocked. Now, if only Dr. Martin's with babydolls would go back in style!

  12. I have that shade and I love it. In fact, I pulled it out today to wear it because of this post. From what I've seen of your swatches and fotd type posts, I think you and I have similar coloring. So I think this will be a pretty color on you, too.

  14. This post made me very curious about this lipstick. So when I visited in Wal-mart yesterday (one with a particularly good beauty department) I checked out this shade. It was so lovely I had to buy it (which is saying something because I don't particularly care for La Moss ;)

This lipstick is my absolutely, perfect nude.
100% match to my lips. It's amazing and I love it.

So thank you, thank you, thank you, G!!!

  15. This is pretty matte to me. Comfortably so, I mean. It's my favorite lipstick right now. I love them. The formula is so much better than the Maybelline Vivids, imo.

    Rimmel is steppin' it up.
