One of my best Rite Aid clearance sale hauls to date...
I just wanted to take a second to respond to comments and emails that I've received recently about the Rite Aid clearance sales that some of you have spotted at your local Rite Aid stores, and let you know why I don't do blog posts about those sales.
I've mentioned this in the past but, for newer readers, Rite Aid clearance sales vary from store to store. Historically, when the seasons change, certain Rite Aid locations will put just about every product in the "new product" area of the beauty department on 50% clearance. However, not all stores do this, and the inventory from store to store can also vary depending on what that particular store decides to put on clearance.
For example, at one Rite Aid location, you might be able to find the entire Maybelline Fashion Week Fall 2012 collection on 50% off clearance right now. But if you go to a store across town, these products might still be full price. Also, some stores will put 50% off clearance tags on their merchandise and leave those products in their original displays, while other stores will move all of their clearance merchandise to an end-cap or sale aisle somewhere else in the store (usually not in the beauty department).
And then there are some Rite Aid locations that might never put their seasonal/limited edition/new products on clearance. They might be there one day, and then the next day they'll be gone and in their place will be the new seasonal products.
Since things vary GREATLY from store to store, that's why I no longer do "heads-up" types of posts about Rite Aid clearance sales. In the past, I found that many readers went looking for clearance items and never found them, and I don't like to get peoples' hopes up like that, if I can help it. I do blog about my own personal Rite Aid clearance hauls though, because I do that as a way to help you take advantage of these types of deals WHEN you spot them (here's an example).
However: if you'd like to let us know about the products you've found on clearance at your local Rite Aid, I encourage you to leave a comment on the You Tell Me page. That way, it can give other readers at least some idea of what they MIGHT find on clearance at their locations!

PS: I do blog about chain-wide clearance sales though. This occurs when a particular brand or line is being discontinued across the entire chain (like when Jane Cosmetics left Rite Aid, etc.). If/when that ever happens, I'll definitely post about it here.
My Rite Aid has a table full of clearance stuff up by the registers. Is your Rite Aid like this, too? I never see any makeup, though, so I guess I'm wondering if there might be some other place the clearance beauty products are hiding.
ReplyDeleteMy RA has that table too, but it's mostly for seasonal candy/food. I mentioned in this post all of the other locations within the store where you might be able to find clearance beauty products. Hope that helps.
DeleteA lot of stores around me keep a clearance endcap, like G mentioned, in the back of the store near the pharmacy or near the beverage cooler. I always take a lap around the perimeter before checking out!
Deletemy rit aid always puts either a huge bin in the middle of a random place or little boxes on a very bottom shelf
DeleteMine does a little plastic bin on the bottom of the very last cosmetic endcap. It never has much in it, though :(
DeleteThere is one Rite Aid near me that always has beauty products on clearance a month or two after they are released, sometimes less. I love it since that particular store is usually my best bet to find new/newer displays. If I'm on the fence about something, I wait a few weeks and it's half off, at least! There are at least a dozen RAs in my immediate area, and this is the only location that does this. Some of them still have nearly stocked displays of spring/early summer items that have been long gone from other locations. I guess they don't have any cosmetic hoarders shopping there lol
ReplyDeleteThanks G! I spotted a riteaid clearance at seal beach and then thought maybe i could spot some clearances at 4 other locations and that didn't work out and i just ended up tired of driving around :( i hope when people post about their riteaid clearance they indicate the location
ReplyDeleteMy Rite Aid doesn't do clearances. It does have dollar aisles but not for make up items.

ReplyDeleteI totally understand your reasoning and I think it's a great idea. I personally don't have a Rite Aid near me, but I like that you only like to share things that many readers can take care of. I'd hate to be a follower that frequents Rite Aid and see a post about things on sale by you to only find my store didn't have it. Thanks for trying to help out everyone you can!
ReplyDeleteThere are several Rite Aid stores in my area. Most of them have all of the Color Club polishes and some NYC nail collection on clearance. At least one of them had some Sinful Colors on clearance, and another had all of the Sinful nail art stripers on clearance for 49 cents each (I bought a ton)! Then another had nothing on clearance at all. I guess they're making room for new things, which is fine by me! I score some cool stuff for cheap and get to look forward to new stuff too!

DeleteThere are quite a few Rite Aids in my city, but the Rite Aid closest to me RARELY has clearance sales, and they are always cleaned out on the first day when they do occur. The CVS clearance information you provide is so informative! I am so grateful that your provide this service, G!
ReplyDeleteI'm learning that Rite Aid clearances are super random. The one closest to me never has much of any clearance, but I was out in a different part of town yesterday and dropped in at two of them. One had all the NYC summer LE stuff marked down plus a big table by the registers with the Maybelline LE stock, and the next one I visited, no clearance at all. Guess it makes the hunt interesting.
ReplyDeleteI work for Rite Aid. Sometimes the prepacks get recalled at the end of the quarter, and sometimes they don't. When something is in our store for like 6 months without being recalled, I always mark it 50% off myself, and just change it at the register to get it out of the store (and also so I can buy it!)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are some stores that are very strict about making their own clearance sales, but my manager is very lenient and likes to make room for all the new displays.
