Spotted: NYC Limited Edition Summer In The City Collection (with bonus polish swatches!)

The second Limited Edition collection from NYC to hit stores this summer (click here to see the Color Rush! Collection), Summer In The City contains some little gems, so let's take a closer look:

NYC Limited Edition Summer In The City Collection

I spotted this collection at my local Rite Aid a few days ago. It contains the following:

A multi-colored bronzer, a solid bronzer and a solid highlighter. Glam on the Cheap has some good close-ups of two of these bronzers--click here to take a peek.

Three LE shades of Liquid Lipshines and two LE nail polishes (much more about these in a minute). One of the Liquid Lipshines is called Peach Melba, and Glam on the Cheap has swatches of that as well.

This display also contains the NYC Smooth Skin primer (click here for my review), which is not limited edition, and the Showtime Mascara (again, not LE). I'm not sure if the Sparkle Eye Dusts are LE shades but they look like they are.

I purchased the two Limited Edition polishes from this collection ($1.99 each) and I'm so excited to show them to you:

NYC In a New York Color Minute Nail Polish in Peach Sparkle

I said this on Twitter earlier today, but I honestly think this is the most beautiful peach nail polish I have ever seen. I'm not a big peach polish fan (have you noticed that I rarely swatch peach polishes on this blog?) but there's something about this little sorbet chameleon that makes me drool.

This polish changes color depending on the light, and it's got that beautiful golden hidden shimmer that comes out when the light hits it just right:

These pics were taken after three coats + top coat. This one's sheer and demands three coats, but the formula itself is so smooth--it flows onto the nails like melted butter.

I honestly can't think of another polish quite like it (although I'm sure one of YOU probably can!). I just don't personally own another sorbet like this--it's not quite a creme, yet it's not quite a jelly either. It's got this almost dusty quality to it at certain angles, but then it's also got that intriguing hidden shimmer. I'm telling you, it's stunning. If you're a peach polish fan and you see this display, do NOT hesitate to pick this one up!

And here's the second LE polish in this collection:

NYC Limited Edition In a New York Color Minute Nail Polish in Golden Glam

Apologies! Those bubbles that you see on my middle and index fingers are not from this polish. They're actually from the the tea bag that's on each of those nails (I had breaks in both nails and used the tea bag method to repair them--it TOTALLY works by the way). Due to the nature of this particular polish, you can see the tea bag and glue a bit better in close-up, but you couldn't see it in my first set of pics, right? It's usually pretty smooth after two coats of polish and a top coat.

Anyway, moving on to this polish:

To me, this polish is something you'd expect to see from a brand like Zoya (Glam On The Cheap said the same thing in her post). It's reminiscent of Zoya Rica for sure, but the golden flecks aren't quite as chunky.

The first thing I said when I put it on was, "It's like the polish equivalent of MAC "O" lipstick!". You know how MAC "O" looks rose-gold on certain people, while it looks more peachy-red on others? Same thing with this polish--it's a little chameleon thanks to its slight duochrome effect. By the way, it's much prettier in person--these photos diminish the true depth of this polish. In person it actually looks a lot more like Amber's swatches of Zoya Rica.

I applied three coats + top coat for these pictures, but I probably could have gotten away with two thicker coats. Again, this one was super easy to work with--like melted butter.

If you were to only get two things from the new NYC Limited Edition Summer In The City collection, I would strongly suggest picking up both of these polishes. At $1.99 a piece they are a downright STEAL.

Have you spotted this display in your area yet? Thoughts?

  1. your swatch of peach sparkle ALMOST looks like NARS orgasm??? Maybe?

  2. OMG, emilee, that is too funny that you mention that! I was afraid to say that because I've never seen Orgasm in person, on the nail. Looking at it in google images it looks a zillion different ways depending on the blog, so I have no way of knowing for sure, but sure LOOKS like it could be a dupe! :)

  3. Just spotted these yesterday and Rite Aid and fell in love! They are so pretty and summery. I grabbed both the polishes as well as the three lipglosses.

NYC lipglosses are some of my favorites (and the price is so excellent!!), and the three colors (Peach Melba, Pink Breeze, and Bronzed Beauty) are perfect for summer make-up looks. All three of them have a really gorgeous golden shimmer running through them. I know you're not usually a fan of shimmer in lipglosses, G, but you might want to give one of these a try! They just scream SUMMER!!!

  5. I have an old NYC Glossies polish that Peach Sparkle reminds me of called Golden Sunset, I also agree with the person who said it looks like Nars Orgasm cause I always thought Golden Sunset looked close to Orgasm.

I took a pic cause I could find anything online.

  6. The glosses are incredible. They are sticky... But completely smooth somehow so they aren't actually sticky! Put a bit between your fingers & you'll see what I mean!

I love both these shades but I'm surprised they released them at the same time since they're so close in the color family!

  8. This looks a lot like a nail polish I just bought today and just painted my nails with!!! It's one of the Ulta brand polishes that have been on sale for $2. The color is called "OH!" I bought it because it kind of reminded me of NARS Orgasm. It may be a little less red? It looks a lot like the first few pics you posted. It's a little on the sheerer side but I've quite liked the Ulta formulations. I can't seem to find swatches online and lighting is not great where I am haha...sorry!

    1. You're right. I own OH! too, and it does look very similar. If you like the Ulta formulations you should try Eye Popping Poppy, gorgeous bright coral pink jelly. There is a blog called Wacky Lacki http://wackylaki.blogspot.com/ that often features Ulta polishes.

  9. The NYC Quick Drys are my fave drugstore nail polish so I'm going to snag those LE polishes the second I see them. Thanks for the heads up!

  12. I think I've become obsessed with NYC LE polishes. I hope my CVS has this the next time I stop. That peach gold shade is so gorgeous, and so perfect for summer!

  13. Arrrgh! *raises fists because there are no Rite Aids in Florida* I have some LA Color sprinkle powder in a bottle just like the one in the display.

I'm not a peachy-color type of girl. However, after gawking at these swatches...guess what!!??? Gemme!!!!

  14. I want both of those nail polishes! May the hunt begin!

  15. Oh those polishes are beautiful!!!! And here I am trying to save money for a vacation :/ but I really think I'm gonna have to head out to Rite Aid! I'm still kicking myself for not getting all that I wanted from the City Sweets Collection back in the spring LOL

  16. I was JUST in Rite Aid and took a pic of this to send to you G because I wasn't sure if you had seen it or not. Anyho, I got the golden glam polish ( the other looked WAY to light for my NC45 skin, but seeing your swatches is making me reconsider it) and two of the lipglosses (the bronze and the peach). I also picked up the orange sparkle polish from the other LE collection you just posted about yesterday. There is a tear pad with 50 cent off coupons so i used the coupons on all of my purchases. I'm on the fence about going back to get the miulticolored bronzer...I think it would make a great highlighter for my complexion. Hummmm decisions decisions.

  17. I picked up the polishes a few days ago, but now I think I'm going to go back for the glosses, lol.

For those interested, Peach Sparkle and NARS Orgasm share almost the exact same size/saturation of gold shimmer; however, Orgasm's base is slighty lighter and more yellow-toned. In this case, I actually prefer the NYC over the NARS for its better formula/application.

  18. I'm in love with that first one, but I'm pouting because my city does not have the CVS chain. Oh well.

  19. If anyone is in TX, my HEB had both new NYC displays right next to each other. :)

I picked up the Pink Breeze gloss on a whim; I have not owned an NYC product since My Very First Black Nail Polish in middle school. Holy CRAP do I love this! I'm very timid about lip colors. Pink Breeze dried to an amazingly subtle color for a shimmer, I felt comfortable with it but also confident that I was wearing a gorgeous lip color! I don't know how to describe it but a bronze-y pink, which sounds awful! Especially at NYC's price point, if anyone is the slightest bit interested in this shade I really recommend picking it up. I'm going to get a few more since it's LE.

I don't know if this is typical for NYC glosses and I don't think it's meant to be flavored, but the gloss has a slight taste to it that is lovely. It reminds me of sugar cookies. Unfortunately the dog likes it as well.

  20. I just picked up both polishes. My rite aid had the coupons too!

  21. Yay, more liquid lipshines! I love them.

  23. Wow, I need those polishes in my life!

  24. I wonder how Peach Sparkle polish compares to NARS Orgasm polish! Looks like it could be a close one to me.

  25. Oh shoot, I just promised my husband to do a 10-Pan challenge, but that nail polish! And LE glosses! I may have to buy and hide them...

  26. Golden Glam looks like a dupe for the Spoiled W&W polish Shrimp on the Barbie. I own the the Spoiled polish but not the NYC. If anyone owns both do a comparison! :)

    1. I think they are very similar. I think the W&W is a bit more pink and the NYC is a bit more orange.

  27. I am going to "need " both polishes and possibly the lip gloss! I love using the tea bag method of repairing breaks! It's old school but so effective. My mom who is 83 told me about it years and years ago. Thats hiw they did repairs when she was young!

  28. So i just HAD to go back and pick up the peach sparkle polish and the bronzer "roof top party" I swatched the bronzer and it looks AWESOME on my summer NC50 skin (in winter i'm an NC45). Doesn't bronze a thing but like I suspected, its a great highlighter. On ladies a bit lighter than me, I'd bet it would be a great bronzer. I think in the winter this woudl have more of a bronzing effect. I think I'm going to go back and pick up the last bronzer tomorrow morning after my bootcamp class. This bronzer is darker that all of the regular NYC bronzers and at $4.99, this is a steal!

  29. Have to get these polishes! Beautiful! I have a tea bag on my nail at the moment too! TOTALLY awesome trick! And 100% invisible, even with a french manicure :)
