Wet n Wild fans: breaking news!

I've heard several reports from many of you that you can no longer find NYC New York Color products at your local CVS stores. I have no idea if NYC and CVS have ended their business relationship, but as of last week, I still saw the NYC displays at my local CVS stores.

But then...a few days ago, at a local CVS, I saw this display where the NYC display used to be:

Many of you are probably saying, "Yeah, so what? My CVS has carried Wet n Wild for years now." Well in San Diego, Wet n Wild products aren't a common sight at CVS. But anyway, THAT'S not what I'm freaking out about.

If you look a little closer at this brand new Wet n Wild display, something might catch your eye:

Wet n Wild 8-pans. AT CVS.

As many of you know. the wildly popular 8-pans were sold exclusively at Walgreens and Walmart when they first debuted (when I gave you the sneak-peek of these palettes back in January, I heard directly from WnW that these were Walgreens and Walmart-exclusive products).

Well I guess things have changed! When I saw these in the display, I had to look around and make SURE I was at CVS (admittedly, I frequent the drugstores so much that I do forget which store I'm in sometimes, but no, I was definitely in CVS!).

This might be old news to some of you, but this was a total shocker to me! Have you spotted the 8-pans at your local CVS yet?

Also in this new display, the newly-redesigned/relaunched Juicy Lip Balms:

Wet n Wild Juicy Lip Balm SPF 15
Cherry, Raspberry, Watermelon and Strawberry

UPDATE: for my full review of these lip balms, click here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the old Juicy Lip Balms didn't contain any SPF, did they? I love the new packaging on these, but I think they eliminated some flavors (if I remember correctly, there used to be a Kiwi Strawberry and a Tangerine flavor, and maybe a few others?).
Also, in this display, I spotted the new Mega Sparkle Confetti:

This is the first time I have seen these in stores, even though I posted the following information quite some time ago on the blog:

MegaSparkle™ Confetti - $2.99 SRP
Comes in sleek, easier-to-use new packaging. Glow from head-to-toe! Glamorous loose glitter creates sparkly, shimmery accents. A touch of sparkle adds a glittering glow to any look and can be sprinkled onto face, body, or hair.

Available in Pink Sugar, White Icing and Lilac Frosting.

It's hard to see in my pic, but in person these have a gorgeous iridescent sparkle to them. The packaging TOTALLY reminds me of the old-style packaging of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Diamond Dusts. Jojoba has a great pic of the old MUFE packaging if you don't remember it. Don't they look really similar to these WnW powders?

So if you are like me and live in a city with CVS locations that don't carry WnW, that might change for you VERY soon. Be on the lookout for this brand spankin' new display!

Also, have your local CVS locations stopped carrying NYC products? (Apparently mine have.) Please leave a comment on this post and let us know!

  1. I just went to a cvs last night, and there were no nyc products. There was a wet'n'wild display (as there usually is) but no 8-pans.

  2. Besides looking at your blog, I never knew that CVS had NYC! I used to always shop at Walgreens for my drugstore makeup and I just recently started to go to CVS, too. I started going about a month ago, and this whole time they have not had NYC. But, I did notice a HUGE Wet n Wild display in a very weird spot(right in the middle of the makeup section- bridging together the makeup and skincare like the Milani display is) and yes- their was 8 pans there if I remember correctly! I did not think much of it because I did not know they were exclusive to Wags and Walmart. The things I learn reading Nouveau Cheap!

  3. I was at CVS yesterday and the NYC display was still there. My CVS never sold WNW so it will be a definite change.
I wonder if the NYC products will go on clearance soon if they are changing over to WnW? Too bad CVS can't just sell both.

  4. Thanks for the update. I will keep an eye out for WnW at my CVS.

  5. My CVS has actually never had NYC products, not has any store i've ever encountered (and believe me I've looked.) I've also yet to find the 8 pans, even my local Ulta doesn't have them. Apparently wet n wild and Ulta have ended their relationship (they did used to carry them.) The times are a changin'~

  6. Speaking of W&W,has ANYONE had any luck in finding The Gilded Age collection? I was SO looking forward to trying it. Haven't had any luck in finding it (I live in upstate NY) :(

  7. I wish we had CVS in Alaska :( we have Walgreens but it's just not the same.. I want some of those confetti eyeshadows!!!

  8. I just recently got access to CVS when I moved, and from the beginning I noticed they did not have WnW. I wondered about it but didn't think anything more of it. I don't know if they ever carried it since CVS are pretty new to my state (Oklahoma).

  9. None of my local CVS's sell NYC... :( I haven't seen any of this new WnW stuff, though they do carry some... In very old displays. Though, being in Missouri, apparently we're the last to get anything new!

  10. My CVS is like yours G, where there previously hadn't been a display. My NYC displays at my local CVSs always seem half empty and often look like they never get replenished, hmm... they might soon be gone. Off topic... I'm still stalking local drug stores for the WetnWild summer limited edition bronzer and shadow trio... Grrr! Guess it just didn't come to my area!

  12. Hey G! I posted this on your You Tell Me Page. I found out a few days ago. I'm quite sad since CVS was pretty much the only place where I could get NYC products, especially the Limited Edition products. My CVS Clerk said that NYC will be taken out of all stores so that's only one source I can vouch for.

I didn't purchase anything from the Wet n Wild display because they didn't have anything up on the display. So maybe next time I go to CVS they'll have stocked up. Ok well until next time!

  13. Was at CVS less than a week ago and they still had NYC, but it wasn't fully stocked. They have never carried WnW, not even the limited edition stuff. CVS and Target are the only places here that carry NYC at all so if CVS gets rid of it I will be a little sad.

  14. My CVS (aka the worst CVS ever) just got in the Gilded Age stuff. But they never had NYC and the WnW is just a two foot wide display in the corner, so...I don't even know.

They never clearance any of the things people talk about on the blogs, either. :(

  15. I live in southeast Florida and there's one CVS out of the 8 I pass on the way to work everyday that carries W&W and it's a very small cardboard display in a corner. I've been desperately searching for their LE Gilded Age collection but still haven't spotted it :( Would love it if CVS carried W&W permanently at all locations!

  16. Hey G! I was at CVS on Sunday, and did a double take when I saw that same exact Wet n Wild display where the NYC display used to be! I'm in Northern California. I also noticed the 8-pans and couldn't believe my eyes. I'm still debating whether or not I want to get them this week with the 25% off coupon I received in my email or wait for a future sale. The Sparkle Confetti looks interesting too... gosh I hope CVS will have a sale on WnW soon!

  18. Yay! Thanks for the update. =) My CVS used to have Wet 'n' Wild like 6 years ago but they stopped carrying it. I've seen some random WnW stuff at a few of the bigger CVS stores but not much. I'm glad I won't have to go all the way to Walgreens for WnW anymore.. thank goodness!

  19. I saw this last week! I've been too busy to comment about it, :(, but I'm happy someone did! A long time ago, my favorite CVS clearanced all of their WnW. I was able to pick up the older collection of 3-pan and 6-pan palettes for 75% off! At another CVS nearby me two weeks ago, I noticed that all of their WnW 75% off as well. I picked up ALL of the newer 3-pan palettes for 75 cents each! I also purchased some other products. I was SUPER excited when I found an 8-pan palette in the clearance section of my favorite CVS and was going to ask whether it was indeed 75% off when I found that huge display! Disappointed that it wasn't on clearance, but at least WnW is here to stay! I'm not sure about other CVS's though. It seems odd to me that the other CVS I went to clearanced all of the new WnW stuff. I even saw that Mega Sparkle Confetti in the clearance section. o_O I guess it varies from CVS to CVS.

  20. They don't carry WnW at my CVS either and I wish they did, so hopefully they will eventually. :)

  21. None of our local CVS's out here in Philly suburbs have been carrying the WnW. It would be great if I could find it there. They do have them at Walgreens, though.

  22. Those lip balms look awesome! I NEED the watermelon and strawberry, I just know it. Those Megasparkle pots are also just a repackage of the ones that are currently 50% off at most CVS stores!

    ReplyDelete
  23. my stores still have both NYC and WnW.. but just what was left from the clearances. doesn't look like they restocked anything.

  24. The closest CVS to me is brand new, and I don't think it ever carried NYC. But it has a little WnW stand, and I've found the 8 pans there before, so yay! This kind of gives me hope that they will expand their WnW section, although I doubt it. It has a small-ish beauty aisle (compared to my closest Walgreens, at least).

  25. I just noticed the NYC website is down. I really hope they're just updating and that NYC isn't disappearing!

The CVS stores around Boston tend to have only cardboard stands of Wet n Wild products, so I'm curious if the NYC endcap will be replaced with Wet n Wild soon. The closest store to me always tends to be the last to change over, so when I'm downtown, I'll have to go check out the beauty aisles!

  26. So exciting! I really hope mine get this display soon! I still haven't found the spring or summer collections.

  27. I am super pumped for this! No wonder all the NYC displays I saw were pretty much cleared out. Earlier today, I saw an employee there setting up the WnW display that replaced NYC. I am definitely excited to pick up the new line of WnW stuff because my Rite Aids still don't have them yet :/

  28. I went to CVS last night and saw the exact same display as the picture here. EXACTLY the same. The same items and missing items. I was so excited. NYC display is totally gone. I looked in the clearance section but didn't see any of it there. NYC did just come out with a summer LE line of bronzers and lip glosses, so I don't think they're completely going away.

  29. Wow! I don't usually shop at CVS because I have Harmons (which is like half the price!) and Walmart has the 8-pans, but I've never seen the juicy lip balms or mega sparkle before in any store! Wet n wild just keeps getting better and better!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Actually all of the CVS stores in the Dallas area have told me they are no longer carrying wet n wild. I asked each manager at each store why. They told me that, "wet n wild was used to be a cheap brand, and the prices are going up, so they no longer are going to carry them" o_0 huh? My CVS stores have zero wet n wild products, all have been shipped back to the warehouse and replaced by an even bigger NYC space. This has made finding limited edition products a nightmare.
