Reader Review: Dupe Comparisons!

It's been a while since we did a Reader Review, so today I'd love to share with you some great dupe comparisons submitted by the lovely Aly7, whose own blog you can check out here.

Aly7 spotted some great dupes in her own stash, and she has the pics to prove it!

For her first dupe comparison, Aly7 shows us L.A. Colors Mineral Eye shadow in Beige and Stila eye shadow in Kitten:

Stila on left, LA Colors on right.

Aly7writes: "Really, the only thing that really differs at all between them is that Beige is a little more cream toned, while Kitten is more pink toned. But, when you put them on- you really can't tell the difference."

[Boy, the LA Colors Mineral shadow in Beige is quite the little multi-tasker! Click here to see me compare it to the long-ago discontinued Wet n Wild Acapulco Gold. BTW, you can find the LA Colors Mineral shadows at most Dollar Trees across the nation. -G]

Next up, Aly7 compares CARGO Classic Lip Gloss in Mini Glitter (featured in the Fab Four kit) and Hard Candy Mouthing Off Sheer Lip Shine in Au Natural:

CARGO on left, Hard Candy on right.

Aly7 writes: "I really honestly, can't even tell the difference! They look exactly the same."

Wow!

Next up, Aly7 compares Covergirl Sheerly Nudes quad (3rd shade) and Stila Eyeshadow in Sun:

Stila on left, CoverGirl on right.

Aly7writes: "Sun is a touch more pinky while Sheerly Nudes is more cream. They look a lot more similar in person. "

And last but not least, Aly7 compares Stila Peace Sign from the Trendsetting in Tokyo Palette and e.l.f. Drama (3rd shade):

Stila on Left, e.l.f. on right.

Aly7 write: "The only difference on these is that Drama only has silver shimmer while Peace Sign has blue glitter as well."

Thanks SO much, Aly7, for this wonderful reader review. What fantastic dupe discoveries!

Do you own any of the drugstore shades above? If so, are you surprised to see how closely they resemble higher-end shades?

  1. Dupes! It's fun to see similarities, though i'm such a nit picker that I will buy things even if the tone is slightly different.

  7. The ELF eyeshadow is really chalky, I bet the colors are close but the quality not so much.

    1. Actually, I have to disagree. The elf shadow is amazing quality, and the Stila is too.
