I've got some fun new limited edition collections from Sally Hansen to show you today (polishes and Salon Effects strips), that are now popping up at Meijer. Please note that Meijer tends to get Sally Hansen collections a little earlier than other retailers, so it might take a few weeks before you see these in your area if you don't live near a Meijer.
Thanks to two lovely readers for these sightings! First up, longtime reader KD spotted one of the Liquid Mani-A Color Foil dsplays at her local Meijer and was nice enough to share this pic with us:

The display shows a little tutorial for The Foil Fanatics (striped manis using these polishes). KD also confirmed that there are no shade on the display--just numbers. UPDATE: The shade names are printed in small type on the actual bottles.
Here are some more pics of the display courtesy of reader Ally (@daysgoby15 on Instagram) who was also nice enough to share pics with us:

Ally also shared a close-up of one of the bottles:

Sally Hansen Color Foil "Nail Makeup"
(0.34 oz)
The shape of these bottles looks identical to the I Heart Nail Art Big Top Coats but they're actually smaller (0.34 oz). The Big Top Coats are 0.5 oz and 0.4.
And finally, Ally also spotted a Liquid Mani-A Salon Effects display:

There are four different designs in this display, and notice that they packaging as the same as the Summer 2014 Color Destinations Limited Edition Salon Effects.
UPDATE: Just in! Ally just shared swatches of the shade she purchased from the Color Foil collection:

Sally Hansen Color Foil Nail Makeup in 450 Minted Metal
As reader Tiffany mentioned, I wonder if the term "nail makeup" is code to let us old-timers know that these are similar to the original Chromes? Both the original Chromes and these new polishes both have the term "nail makeup" printed on the bottles.
I did some digging and I think I found a shade from the original Chromes collection that's similar to this new shade--it's called Turquoise and you can see a swatch HERE. To tell you the truth, I don't remember how many shades were in the original Chrome collection so I don't know if there will be color-for-color matches in this new collection, or if any of these new shades are identical to the older shades. Guess we'll have to wait and see!
Thanks again, KD and Ally, for the awesome sightings, info and pics, and special thanks to Ally for the additional swatch pic! I really appreciate it!
The finish on these bottles reminds me of the old Sally Hansen chromes!
ReplyDeleteOMG YES!! I knew they looked familiar but I was drawing a blank and could not place it! Thank you so much...it was driving me crazy!!! Lol!
DeleteThat's exactly what I thought! I *so* hope they are similar - I LOVED those!
DeleteHaha! You're welcome! I will be very excited if they are similar...I loved those polishes. But chrome and foil are definitely 2 different finishes if we are going off of description alone.
DeleteYeah, I'm very curious about that. There's been sone "mislabeling" in the past (those Revlon "holographic" polishes that were actually just duochromes) so I'm wondering if these will actually be foils or chromes!
DeleteI love using foils in nail art (that way I don't have to be so careful about buffing/using a ridge filling base coat to get that perfect finish) so I'm excited about these!
ReplyDeleteYes, these look exactly like the old Sally Hansen Chromes! I loved those, wish I hadn't thrown them away :( I must have all of these.
ReplyDeleteI loved them too and threw mine away, so I'm hoping these will be similar!
DeleteYay more chromes!
ReplyDeleteThis may be perfect for nail stamping
ReplyDeleteI still have some vintage Hansen Chromes, and that was the first thing I thought when I saw these pictures!
ReplyDeleteI remember the old SH Chromes!!! Oh how they chipped on me!!! I too thought the same this as I read this post! It will be interesting to see swatches!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting indeed! Can't wait to find these and check them out. There is quite a shade range too. Have to laugh at them calling it nail makeup! Another marketing gimmick, I wonder?
ReplyDeleteI really hope these are like the old Sally Hansen chromes-- they had such a great finish!
ReplyDeleteooooh opaque Sally Hansen bottles, *anything* could be in there! I think those old Chromes from 2001 or 2002 also claimed they were "Magical Nail Makeup"! Some of my Prisms are partially opaque too.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! Chromes are back?!!! This is going to be awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh la la, I can't wait to see swatches of these bad boys!
ReplyDeleteOhhh these look really intriguing! Hoping for swatches!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one actually drooling? ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut what is the difference between chrome & foil polishes??
ReplyDeleteDefinitely thought of the old Chromes when I saw these. Also, they're called "Nail Makeup" like the old SH Magical Nail Makeup collection. I wonder if they did on purpose as a nod to their old collections.
ReplyDeleteThese look gorgeous...but. I'm starting to suffer from polish overload. I want to hear how well these foils wear, before I plunk down money. (And I finally pitched my old SH Chromes last year. They had separated one time too many, and were just far, far too thin, and were about as durable as damp tissue after so many years.)
ReplyDeleteThe Foil/Chromes look gorgeous but Limited Edition?! :(
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I was looking at some of the old chromes on amazon just a few days ago - I heard them stamp really well. If this new collection is just like those...my wallet's in trouble as soon as I spot these ;(
ReplyDeleteI am excited for these. I had the old chromes and loved them so much I kept them in a special place. Then my then 5 year old found them and used them all to decorate the flat screen.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty but I thought chrome first, too. I'm still more excited about the Revlon pebbled collections and some other goodies floating around.
ReplyDeleteHa! I still have one of those old chrome "nail makeup" bottles. Not sure how I feel about having it all over all my nails, but they're so cool for accent nail art! I might have to check out this display when it shows up in my town:)
ReplyDeleteI've just stolen my mums two SH Chromes, they would appear to have dupes in the line up above. Brilliant, I blinking love these!
ReplyDeleteI guess I am the only one not impressed. Seems to show every flaw, brushstroke etc and I'm not the smoothest painter in the world already lol! Well, that saves me a trip & some cash I guess eh?
ReplyDeleteYou could always sponge them on. No brushstrokes!
DeleteI still have my old SH chromes and Petites chromes. I loved these polishes back then.
ReplyDeleteOmg I'm so excited for these.
ReplyDeleteHow much are these?
