Remember yesterday when I posted about the new Limited Edition Color Destinations Triple Shine Palm Beach Jellies, and I mentioned that that were probably other displays in the Color Destinations collection? There are! Last night my pal Emi of Project-Swatch shared a pic of the Color Destinations South Beach Shores Salon Effects collection on her Instagram and kindly sent close-ups of each design to share here with you (she found the display at Rite Aid). There's something interesting about these--check it out:

Sally Hansen Summer 2014 Limited Edition Color Destinations
South Beach Shores Salon Effects Collection
NEW SALON EFFECTS PACKAGING! You might have noticed that most (if not all) retailers have been clearancing a lot of the core Salon Effects designs over the past few months. So it appears that Sally Hansen is transitioning to this new packaging (and hopefully adding new designs to the core line!). This is just a guess, and this new packaging could just be for this limited edition collection, but I'm guessing it's a permanent change.
What do you think of this new packaging? If this is a permanent switch, I'm kind of sad that these now look like every other brand's nail strips, in terms of packaging. Salon Effects are my favorite real nail polish strips, and I always liked the little boxes because I felt that the boxes set them apart from everyone else. But the new packaging IS much easier to store and it takes up far less space, so I'm thinking I'll probably warm up to the idea.

Have you seen any of the new Color Destinations displays in your area? I'm holding out hope that there are Xtreme Wear glitters in this collection to go along with the new jellies!
Thanks so much, Emi, for the great sighting and pics. I really appreciate it!
UPDATE: Thanks to several of you for letting me know that there's a second display floating around that contains three ADDITIONAL designs. I found this display at my local Rite Aid--here are the three additional designs:
Adoryble
Walk the Plank, Plenty of Fish
I'm bummed about the new packaging, too, but if they keep adding cute designs, I'll learn to love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI do love the bubble ones--perfect for my blog theme!
Hold the phone, girls...if you notice in these pics you only get 12 nail polish strips. In the "original" packaging you get 16! Is Sally Hansen trying to pull a fast one on us?!? Kind of disappointing, don't you think? And I was so excited to get new designs since they haven't done any in awhile but now I think I'm kind of mad. It's not like they lowered the price on these either, so now we're paying the same but getting less product. :(
ReplyDeleteVery good points, Carol! But I'm actually not be sure about the price on these. Maybe they lowered it? Have you seen the new packaging in your area yet? Can you confirm the price? Thanks!!
DeleteSo here's an update: I did find these yesterday at my local Meijer. You are correct, G, they are cheaper than the "originals". These rang up at $5.29. I imagine they will be higher at Wags and CVS because in my area those two stores are always more expensive than Meijer. So I was at least happy they weren't full price. Hoping they just changed the package for the LE ones. :D
DeleteIt looks like these only have 12 strips not 16 like they used to have. :( plus this new packaging probably means they'll be sealed all in one pack like OPI and china Glaze did with their nail strips. I find that this means a lot of strips go to waste. I used to be able to use one 8 pack of strips from the old Sally Hansen Salon Effects for all ten nails..and then save the other 8 pack for the next manicure. That said, I do like a few of these new summer designs.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. I get 2 manis from their boxes.
DeleteI really like the bubbly design too!
ReplyDeleteThe blue bubbles are so cute for summer.
ReplyDeleteNow I hope all the collections are based on FL beach cities.
ReplyDeleteAre the filer and cuticle pusher still included? I'm not sure if they would fit in the new packaging
ReplyDeleteI know, I loved that little orange stick!
DeleteWell I for one hope that they lowered the price (I thought they were pricey to begin with) but especially since they reduced the amount of product. I liked having extras. That way you can use them as an accent or whatever. The patterns are really cute though!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I agree--I really loved that I could get two manis out of one package before. I've been sticking more and more with stamping anyway.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Jamberry Nails? I just got a sample in the mail to try. I've tried Sally Hansen once but I don't think I did it quite right and they didn't last a day on me. Just wondering if you had a comparison. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJamberry is nail wraps, not polish strips, right? More like the KISS nail dresses or other stickers. Not really the same thing at all.
ReplyDeleteI saw these at Meijer, and there at least they were priced lower than the ones in the old packaging. These were 5-something (I wanna say 5.28, but it might have been more; definitely less than 6 bucks). The old ones were 8.58 for the regular designs and 10.99 for the French manicure ones (those had a tag so I snapped a photo instead of trying to remember).
ReplyDeleteI squeezed the packages and felt no sign of the little file and wooden stick. From what I could see peering into the package, they are all in one sealed packet, so like others have commented, it appears there's no more using half the package for one mani and saving the other half for later (of course with only 12 strips, maybe the sizes wouldn't allow that anyway).
I will try these at some point, I'm sure.
The problem I have with the new packaging is there are only 12 strips in the package and there was 16 strips in the box.
ReplyDeleteJust to give everyone a heads up, there is a bigger endcap display popping up at Walgreens that has FOUR more designs. There are a total of EIGHT designs in all for this collection. The two I bought were green starfish and a coral color with skull and crossbones on the end. I'm sorry I can't remember what the other two looked like. At any rate, keep your eyes out for more patterns, girls!
ReplyDeleteLadies, no stick, in file, and all 12 strips are in 1 package. They were $6.49 At my CVS but they were BOGO 50% off this week. I am disappointed in this change.
ReplyDelete$10 a package. Same price as before in my area on NC. Very disappointed to hear about no file or stick and less strips. I won't buy these anymore. I have found Incoco strips so will continue to use those and not Sally Hansen. I did like the option of both but Incoco real nail polish strips have a resealable strip and I have reopened them up to 2 weeks later and used. They don't dry out as fast as Sally but maybe that won' t matter anymore with fewer strips.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone who has opened a package know what sizes they have left out now? The tiny one for the pinky that was really small I never used but used all the others.
Genny, I finally tried one of these designs and it looked like they'd left out the biggest and smallest ones.
DeleteI am sooo mad if this is the direction their strips are going. I totally need the biggest 3 sizes for my thumb, ring, and middle fingers. These are not going to work for me due to the Limited large sizes. .. The largest barely got my thumbs that was with some work! My ring and middle fingers are the same size and again I had to place the strip onto my skin to get the size right and then I had to remove the access. Something I never have to do with the original strips. I have used nail strips exclusively for 2 years lol. Soooo mad! Hope these are just for limited editions which still makes me mad! My nail broke so I trimmed them all to match else this pack would not have worked at all as I HAD to share the strips for 2 nails! Ugh 12 sizes is not good! Plus I hate how a few of the size have tapered ends, I like the more cylinder ends and trimming the excess versus having to put the strip on my skin because the taper would leave nail showing! I should totally write them! I have normal nails too lol I would not call my nails wide at all so I can imagine many others are going to be upset. Ugh again
ReplyDeleteI found these all at Dollar Tree last summer for $0.50 each. I bought tons of them...gave a few to my sisters. I love them...just put on "Plenty of Fish" to kick off summer!
