Spotted: Sinful Colors Halloween 2014 Wicked Color Collection

UPDATED 9/5/14 with additional info and pics.

The Sinful Colors Halloween 2014 Collection has landed at both Rite Aid and Walgreens but, there's a pretty big difference between the two displays. Luckily I've got pics (and even some swatches) of both displays to share with you today, thanks to four lovely readers. So let's get right into it.

First up, the Rite Aid display:

Sinful Colors Halloween 2014 Wicked Color Collection at Rite Aid
(retail: $1.99 each, 0.5 oz)

Thanks to reader @k4hurricane1 on Instagram  for the above pic of the Wicked Color counter display at her local Rite Aid. I believe that there is only ONE NEW SHADE in this display and that the rest are repromotes of existing core shades and previous limited edition shades.

@k4hurricane1 also shared this pic of three of the shades in this display:

The new shade above is 1491 Cauldron Couture.

The other two shades that @k4hurricane1 is holding above are Glow in the Dark (this was a new shade for Halloween 2013 and is making a reappearance again this year) and Pumpkin Spice (this shade originally debuted in the Halloween 2012 Bewitched Collection and reappeared again in the Halloween 2013 Haunted House display at Walgreens).

Here's another look at Cauldron Couture, thanks to reader Genevieve (@polishedgrad on Instagram):

Genevieve writes:

"Cauldron Couture has black hexagonal glitters ranging from medium size to micro size mixed with emerald green shredded and small hexagonal glitters in a clear base."

Next up, the Walgreens display:

Thanks to reader @aegriffin42 on Instagram for the above pic of the Wicked Color collection at Walgreens.

And thanks to reader @starres_ on Instagram for sharing the above pic of the Walgreens display.

In addition to nail appliques, you can see that the Walagreens display contains lots of additional shades when compared to the Rite Aid display. But I believe that there are only TWO new shades in the above display, while the rest are reprootes from the core collection and previous limited edition collections.

But here's what's even more interesting: the two new shades in this display are Cauldron Couture (which you just saw above) and Splatter Spell (which you're about to see). Splatter Spell is NOT featured in the Rite Aid display.

Thanks to reader Nola (@nola_ululu on Instagram) for sharing the above pic of the new shade 1492 Splatter Spell (plus her adorable kitty!). I believe Splatter Spell is a Walgreens-exclusive shade.

Nola was also nice enough to share lots of swatches of Splatter Spell with us:

Splatter Spell swatched on bare nails and over a white cream.

As you can see, Splatter Spell contains metallic orange shards and hexes as well as black hexes in varying sizes, all in a clear base.

UPDATE (9/5/14): A few things since my original post!

  • Several of you here on the blog and on Instagram have confirmed that the large display that's currently popping up at Walgreens is also popping up at Target (thanks to reader Lisa Palmer for the tip that she spotted the display in the back-to-school area!).

  • Thanks to reader Crystal for confirming that the nail appliques in the large Halloween display are repromotes from Halloween 2013 and not new designs (click here for my post from last year, to get a better look at the designs).

  • Thanks to several of you for letting us know that there is a THIRD NEW SHADE (in addition to Cauldron Couture and Splatter Spell)  in the large display now popping up at Walgreens and Target. That shade is 1493 Mystery Moonshine.

  • Aside from the three new shades, the polishes in the Sinful Colors Halloween displays are repromotes from the core line and from previous limited edition collections. If you would like to know the names of those shades, check the comments below from readers Nola, Patricia Rainey and Amy Linton (thanks so much, ladies, for taking the time to list them!).

Many thanks to reader Crystal (@cgdesilva on Instagram) for sharing the following pics of all three new Halloween 2014 limited edition shades:

Crystal said that she catalogs her nail polishes by swatching them on clear stones (how neat is that??) and she shared her swatch of Mystery Moonshine with us:

1493 Mystery Moonshine

As you can see, this is the only shade of the three Halloween LE shades that contains shards only (no hex glitters).

TO RECAP: We've got three new and limited edition shades for Halloween 2014 (Cauldron Couture, Splatter Spell, Mystery Moonshine). You can find all three of these shades at Walgreens and Target, but it looks like the Rite Aid display only contains Cauldron Couture.

I'm a bit surprised that the Walgreens display is a bit more low-key this year when compared to last year's gigantic Haunted House display. But last year's display actually only contained two new shades, so I'm not surprised that we only have three new shades this year.

Thanks so much to readers @k4hurricane1, @polishedgrad, @starres_, @nola_ululu and @cgdesilva for the great pics and information about this collection. I really appreciate it!

  2. If it's not too much of a hassle could you post which ones are repromotes from other LE collections since I missed out on a lot of them up until this year? It'd be an insanely huge help!

    1. I haven't seen this display in person, so it's impossible for me to do that right now, since I don't know all of the shade names. Sorry! I have had multiple readers confirm the aside from the two new shades (and the third one mentioned below), everything else is a repromote. If/when I see it in person, I'll try my best to jot them all down and update this post.

In the meantime, here's something you can do if you see these in person. If you're unsure about a shade, you can google "nouveaucheap + the shade name" and if it's been released in the last 5+ years, there's a very good chance that I've blogged about it and you'll see which orginal collection it came from. And if it's not on my blog, you can do a search on the SC site to confirm if it's a permanent shade.

      Hope that helps!

  3. the nail stickers are the same from last year, and I seen another glitter style one as well at walgreens...it is the 2nd shelf far left in your pics. The colors look like pastel madi gra colors but it had a halloween themed name. Gah i picked up the other two but passed on the one I can't think of the name because nothing about it said Halloween as far as colors and looks go. If someone doesn't figured it out before I get a chance to go back I'll grab it.

    5. I like the look of the green-purple-orange one, and the Splatter Spell. Why have I never seen Pumpkin Spice before? I just spotted some CoverGirl lip crayons on clearance for $2.50 at the indie drug store across the street from our home and now these... I fear my no-buy for September might not make it to the end of the day!

    6. Crystal, thank you so much for going back to the store just so you could let us all know the name of that polish. That's dedication, sister!

  4. During this past 99 cent walgreens sale I bought extra just so I could do some exchanges. And the copper one is coming home with me.... thanks!

  5. Thanks for this! Can't wait to find these!

  6. I saw the smaller display at Rite Aid yesterday when I went in to check the cosmetics department. They always have beautiful colors, but they chip super fast on me for some reason so I have stopped buying them, unless they are the ones that you can top over other polishes.

  7. Great info G! I'm glad the bigger display is at Walgreens since there are no Rite Aids in my city. Going to have to get all three of those new colors.

  8. I do know that Courtney Orange and Starry Night are two of the repromotes. I haven't seen the actual new display, but a bunch of them were shoved into the display with Splatter Spell, Pumpkin Spice, and the Glow In The Dark.

  9. Phoebe Moon on YouTube did a live swatch video of these: http://youtu.be/XQg03iI62k0 :) Love her videos!

  11. I found this collection at Target today as well. Not by the cosmetics, but by the back to school area

  12. Let's see if I can remember the other colors. snow me white, black on black, let's talk cloud nine, Courtney orange, starry night, (I think) pine away, pumpkin spice. I don't remember seeing what the name of the green was but I saw the bottle and I think it looked like pine away. The clear coat is also on there. Then of course the glow in the dark and the 3 new colors. I think that's it. The large Walgreens display has several rows of colors but they were all duplicated. Like the display came with 9 bottles of the glow in the dark and I think 6 each of the new colors.

  13. Also included in the display is Courtney orange, starry night, cloud 9, Lets Talk, GoGo girl (if I remember correctly), Pine Away, and snow me white ( i didn't actually look at the name in this one) along with the previously mentioned web decals, pumpkin spice, Caldron couture, mystery Moonshine, glow in the dark, and splatter spell.

    1. Yup it is GoGo Girl, I forgot about that one! And I can't picture a blue shade, I didn't put up the first two rows so I didn't look at them. I'll look on Sunday though when I go back to work!!

  14. I forgot to mention the blue bottle but I can't remember what it is, sorry!

  16. Gonna need those newbies! Love shards!

  17. That Mystery Moonshine looks a lot like the LE Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mind Your Manors. MYM has blue in it...I wonder if MM is really blueish or if it is truly purple...??

    1. I was thinking the same thing. MYM is gorgeous, I can pass on this for that reason alone, I have the rest or dupes of them already. Funny how NP mulitiplies like bunnies once you start. Ah well, compared to my makeup habit *coughaddictioncough* this is nothing, lol
