All of the readers who were interviewed for this series were given the same ten questions, and they were asked to submit a picture of themselves, their pet, their makeup stash, or anything else they felt like sharing.
The fourteenth interview in this series is with reader Ashley. Take it away, Ashley!
Reader Ashley
G: How long have you been a fan of drugstore beauty products?Ashley: Ever since I was a kid, so probably 10-15 years now. I've loved makeup and beauty products for as long as I can remember. My first favorites were the Juice Bar body sprays and Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. [Aaaah, I loved those Juice Bar body sprays! --G.]
G: What was the first beauty product that you remember purchasing?
Ashley: The first thing I vividly remember picking out for myself and purchasing was an NYC pencil eyeliner from Eckerds. I was probably in middle school and felt so grown up having an eyeliner.
Ashley:
- Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple - I love this in the summer when I want a red lip but don't want anything too dramatic.
- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Sandstorm - One of my all time favorite lipstick shades.
- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wine With Everything - This is my go to red lip shade in the fall and winter months.
- Maybelline Master Drama Liquid Eyeliner - This is the only liquid eyeliner that I've ever been able to use well, and I've tried tons. It has great precision and application, but it dries out rather quickly I think.
- Maybelline Rocket Volume Express Mascara - This is the only drugstore mascara that I really love. It gives my lashes so much length and volume without looking clumpy.
G: Tell us your best "drugstore score" story (something you got for a great deal on clearance and/or with coupons, store rewards, etc.).
Ashley: A few months ago I went to Big Lots for the first time in ages. I got seven bottles of Sephora by OPI nail polish for $14. I hadn't realized Big Lots had started to carry some higher end stuff in their beauty section, so I got a little carried away and purchased each shade they had.
G: What's your go-to shade of lip color?
Ashley: I love experimenting with a bright lip, but I most often tend to reach for either a neutral pink or a classic red.
G: What's the one movie you can always re-watch, no matter how many times you've seen it?
Ashley: Clueless. I just love the outfits and makeup in that movie!
G: What's your current favorite TV show?
Ashley: This is a tough one, because I love TV. Lately I've been watching a lot of Dawson's Creek on Netflix, but my all-time favorite would have to be either Charmed or Gilmore Girls.
G: What was the last book you read?
Ashley: I've been on a Chuck Palahniuk kick lately. The last book I read was Rant, and I'm currently reading Damned. [Love him. I met him once at a book signing and he was so incredibly sweet despite my extreme fangirling! --G.]
G: If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
Ashley: I would love to be a professional blogger. I would love a job that allowed me to be creative and explore all of my interests. Or almost any job in the music industry.
Ashley: I love reading, writing, and music. I could easily spend all day lost in Barnes & Noble. Some of my favorite authors are: Chuck Palahniuk, Audrey Niffenegger, Deb Caletti, and Jodi Picoult. Some of my favorite bands/musicians are: Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin (basically anything Andrew McMahon puts out), Blink-182, Angels & Airwaves, Brand New, Copeland, and Taking Back Sunday. I'm super passionate about music and could probably continue this list all day.
As part of the interview, I ask each reader if they'd like to share a link to their blog, Facebook page, Twitter page or whatever else they might like to promote. Ashley chose her blog, Nirvana Daisy.
Thanks so much for allowing me to interview you as part of this series, Ashley! I absolutely loved getting to know you a bit better, and I hope other readers feel like they know you a bit better now as well!
Hi Ashley! Great interview. I love music too. I can't go a day without it, no matter what I'm doing my music must be in the background!
