I posted about the new CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pots and Pencils last week but, thanks to two lovely readers, I have a pic of the counter display to share with you AND close-ups of all twelve Shadow Pots in this display!
Thanks to reader Iris for sharing this pic of the display, which she spotted at her local Duane Reade:

Reader also Shawna found the above display at her local Meijer and purchased all twelve Shadow Pots. She was nice enough to share close-ups of each one:

Keep reading for pics of all twelve shades...
According to Shawna, the shadow pots she purchased came unsealed and they are powders--not pigments like the L'Oreal Infallibles. Shawna hasn't tried all of the colors she purchased yet, but she had this to say about the two she has tried:
The colors I tried (335 & 330) have average pigmentation...but are quite powdery if a brush is used, I had much better luck w/my finger. They all impart some shimmer but not enough to be called a "night-time shadow", imo. Also, even though the Amazon listings for these shadows have shade names, Shawna said that her pots did not have shade names, just numbers. I'm wondering if maybe these are supposed to have safety seals and if the shade names are printed on the safety seals? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

I was hoping that some of these might be mattes but, on the bright side, I'm always excited to see red shadows at the drugstore, and I love that dusty teal shade as well. And is it just me or does 355 (above) look like it might be a dupe for MAC Mulch? I think there might be a few dupes here. Thoughts?
Thanks so much for the display pic, Iris! And thanks so much, Shawna, for taking the time to share pics of each shade with us. I really appreciate it!
These look like the old Jane Eye Zings.
ReplyDelete:( I had hoped that the shadow pots would be long lasting cream eyeshadows, similar to Maybelline Color Tatto's.......
ReplyDeleteI thought they were going to be cream shadows too!
Deleteeh i think i will pass on these. they lok too powdery and chalky. ii thought they were going to be like the maybelline color tattoos.
ReplyDeleteSame here. Kinda underwhelming to me. That's ok, I have plenty of Color Tats to play with!
DeleteSame here, rather underwhelming. Good thing I have plenty of the Color Tats to keep me busy for awhile and my wallet is happy I don't want these, especially after picking up the entire L'Oreal Color collection of jelly polishes that just surfaced at my Rite Aid. I destroyed that display LOL!. Oh and there isn't a black jelly as appears in some of the pics I saw unfortunately, it's a dark violet. Still very nice!
DeleteI would love to see swatches of these somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI actually have the swatches of all the shadow pencils. High quality too.
DeleteWell, thanks Shawna! These don't wow me all that much... I alreadu have a great red, G, Sugarpill's Love+. It may not be drugstore but it's still affordable and sooooooo pigmented.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have some great reds too, from Wet n Wild and NYC limited edition collections from years past, but I'm always happy to see more at the drugstore level. :)
DeleteMy OCD tendencies do not allow me to buy products without a safety seal...it just freaks me out lol.
ReplyDeleteThese look like my cheapie 6 pesos mexican eyeshadow (.45 american dlls)
ReplyDeletethe packaging is awful what happend to you covergirl? Not cute covergirl not cute.
Saw this at my Walmart (Canadian). It was on an end shelf display.
ReplyDeleteI was instantly turned off by the packaging =(
Any word on the pencils? Are they waterproof or long lasting or anything? These interest me more than the shadow pots but with summer coming I need smudge proof everything.
ReplyDeleteSome of them look pretty. I wish she would have swatched them.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, CoverGirl shows how little they know about current makeup trends. There's nothing new, fresh or appealing about these. Average eyeshadows in safe boring colors. If you're gonna throw around words like "bold" and "blazing" then your products better be really great. Wow, thanks CoverGirl, the makeup world really needed these.
ReplyDeleteI will try one just to see what they are like. But, I'm not seeing anything that makes me 'uh-ah' about.
