The Lipstick League – week of 3.11.13

Question of the Week

What’s your current favorite face powder and why?

G's answer: Oh don't make me choose just one! I love three right now, for different reasons. I love the Physicians Formula Super BB Powder because it gives my matte foundations a slight shimmer/sheen. I love Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder because it gives my skin a beautiful, natural look while still controlling shine. I also love my Neutrogena Shine Control Pressed Powder because it controls oil better than any other pressed powder I own. It's seriously hardcore if you need heavy duty oil control.

  1. I love Coty's Airspun loose powder. There is just nothing else that compares and it is readily available and at a good pricepoint too. It seems to be discounted a lot too so I can pick some up at a lower price than marked. It does not feel cakey or heavy or drying. It turns invisible once it's been applied and my makeup stays put all day and that is from 5am until 7pm, so it has real holding power.

  2. I love L'oreal true match. Gives just a tiny bit more coverage to my foundation without looking cakey or unnatural.

  3. Benefits Hello Flawless! Gives my face the smoothest finish and doesnt look cakey. I need to pick up the Physicians Formula one :)

  4. I have tried so many powder but my favorite has to be physician formula's mineral wear ( the compact)
Even though I really hate the fact that the powder is loosely packed; one light swirl will generate too much loose powder in the compact, this gives me the best finish compared to other powder.

  5. CG/olay. Slight satin finish, never looks cakey or clings to flakes, stays all day. Gives a soft smooth finish and soft focus appearance. I'm not sure about oil control since I use my primers to take care of that.. but it makes such a difference in the finish of my skin.

    1. Stay Matte Not Flat powder by NYX is suppose to be awesome EmilyNoel on You Tube swears by it.I am trying Flower loose powder which is super fine milled but really has no pigmetation and when you see the light powder it looks dark but comes off almost translucent.

  7. I have not found one that I absolutely love but as for now MAC pressed powder is the best I've used

  8. My favorite is Make Up For Ever - Duo Mat powder foundation. I like a little extra coverage over my liquid foundation and no matter how much I put on, it never cakes up. As far as drugstore, I love the Revlon ColorStay powder, it's soooo soft and silky feeling. Tinted powder is a must for me also because I use a liquid foundation that has spf in it so it helps with the flashback from taking a picture with flash. :)

  9. I love the Catrice Skin Finish powder as it has a super coverage and sometimes I can even skip foundation. :) also, it gives the face the nicest glow a powder can give. :D

  10. I love Black Opal's oil control powder. It does a great job when my skin gets oily throughout the day.

  12. well, being a cheapskate, and having a nice friend who gave me an unwanted compact of Covergirl translucent powdere, I have been using that under my eyes..CG products are sort of talc---ky.. but I use it under my eyes (old Cindy Crawford trick) to prevent flake off eyeshadow to stick on my skin..with the smokey dark colors so popular I tend to get them on my cheekarea..

  14. I go back and forth between Revlon Nearly Naked (so natural!), Maybelline Age Rewind (old version, a MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural dupe, says MakeupByTiffanyD), and Laura Geller's Balance-n-Brighten (looks fab on my sis but not sure I'm getting the same results).

  15. Physicians Formula CoverTox (as in botox). This is the ONLY pressed powder I have ever used every last drop. I'm seeing it less and less, not sure if they're phasing it out...but next time I see it in my shade I better get an extra. Not like I neeeeeed it though, as I have about 5 pans of different powders I rotate (none are as good as PF CT.) I love it bc it controls oil pretty darn good, and really diffuses large pores, annnd good coverage. I also really love the Palladio herbal wet/dry powder foundation, again great help w keeping oiliness at bay, and good coverage dry...even better applied w a damp sponge.

  16. My fav is Rimmel Stay Matte. It's awesome and the translucent one is brightening. Can't beat the price either!
