What do you think about these results? How did your favorite affordable primer rank? Anything surprise you, or did you have a feeling the results would  be similar to this?

Personally, I was a little bit surprised! I reviewed the L'Oreal Perfecting Base a while ago and while it did make my makeup look very smooth, it did little to actually keep my makeup in place throughout the day (although, as I mentioned in my review, it doesn't claim to give makeup any additional staying power). So I'm wondering if I'm in the minority here, and if those of you who voted for this product have good results with staying power too?  Also, I was happy to see that my Holy Grail primer, Black Radiance, got a little love. I'm glad that it's working for some of you out there!

If your favorite affordable primer wasn't an option in this poll, now is the time to let us know all about it. Please enlighten us!

This month's poll is now up and I switched to a snazzy new widget that will allow for more reader interaction in the future (see right-hand sidebar). I'd love it if you'd take a moment to vote--this month we're tackling lipstick textures/finishes. As always, the poll will remain active for one month, and then I'll post the results for discussion. Thanks so much for continuing to vote in these polls--I always love hearing from you and finding out what works for all of you!

    1. I was actually going to add that as an option when I was creating the poll, but it appeared to be discontinued so I left it off. But maybe I was wrong?

  2. Avon Magix is also my favorite primer, I love that it has SPF built in. It looks still available to me on Avon's site. I usually buy it on Ebay to get it a little cheaper too.

  3. Huge 2nd for MagiX Face Perfector SPF 20. Also, I use the L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer in my highlight areas.

    2. I have oily, acne prone skin & Avon Magix makes my foundation slip & separate on my face, not stay. Also made me & my co-worker break out. However, my mother-in-law has dry skin (she's 58), & loves it. It's one of her beauty products that she has repurchased many times.

    3. do you guys use the illuminating or the regular with SPF?

  4. I voted for Rimmel Fix & Perfect because it was the closest option, but I actually use (and much prefer) the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro primer (in the blue & white tube). The original formula is sort of a peachy color, but the Pro formula is white (it blends quickly to invisible), and it works much better for me. I love it, and really notice a difference in my makeup's staying power when I don't use it. It can be kind of hard to find for some reason (some displays just have the original formula), so if I come across it on sale, I stock up!

    3. I can only buy it at one walmart in my area. It is a standard silicone base primer.. works well for what it is.. but I prefer my BR.. the Rimmel makes me too shiny.

    4. The pro 002 primer is a gaZillion times better IMO. Def check it out! I've seen it at drugstores, and my Ulta carries it as well!!

  5. Just a heads up, my Kroger grocery store had the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base for 2.99 with their clearance merchandise.I also saw it at my Dollar General for $5 and I know it's selling for 11.99 at Target yesterday so just a heads up if anyone wants to try it!

  6. I love, LOVE Reviva's primer but it wasn't on the list. But, I'm really glad to see what was picked as the most popular brands.

  7. I like the Victoria's Secret Hydrating Pro Primer! It's sold for $18 which isn't super affordable, but compared to the Smashbox one, I'll take it!

  8. I found that the Monistat made me break out REALLY badly :( Be ware of the silicone!

  9. Not really prone to breakouts and I've only tried the Rimmel outside the half dozen tubes of monistat anti chafing gel I've bought. Bonus: It's here when I buy new shoes that want to blister. I heard that models consider it a HG blister preventer.

  12. I believe BR primer is sold at the local sites where women of color live. (Since it is a WOC line) However, several inline sites carry it to include drugstore.com and with free 2 day shipping for shoprunner members and at 5.99 it seems like a reasonable offer. HTH

  13. I also like avOn magix .. I got it buy1 get 1 free :) I have been loving, lately, my stila primer that i got on sale for $10 the last time there was a warehouse sale.. That primer feels nice on, and even seems to moisturize my skin! And no breakouts!

  14. I've been meaning to tell you this, but forgot until now. So I invested in the Neutrogena shine control primer after I saw it on here. It was a HORRIBLE investment. I get so much more oily during the day with this than I did with the Revlon Photoready that I was using before. With the Revlon primer, I literally NEVER had to powder or use oil absorbing sheets. With this Neutrogena product, I have to at least every hour. It's absolutely ridiculous. Plus, in terms of packaging and size, I have to use a ton of the Neutrogena product compared to the one or two pumps of the Revlon product I used. I anticipate that the Neutrogena will last me about 1/4 of the time that the Revlon did. Soooo disappointing. It makes me appreciate the Revlon Photoready Primer so much more now.

Anyways, that's my experience with it and I figured I would share.

  15. My all time favorite primer is the Nuance by Selma Hayek. It's amazing! It works better for me than many high end primers!

  16. I'm recently started to try different primers and I love this post. I'm going to start trying each of these. Even if I buy a handful of them it still is cheaper then the high end department store brands! Amazing! I just did a search and found that CVS has its version of the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base and it costs about $10.49 and it is called "CVS Makeup Perfecting Face Primer" I haven't tried it yet but it is on the CVS website.
