As promised, I wanted to show you some eye looks that I've created using the Maybelline Limited Edition Olive Martini quad (click here for my full review of this quad, with swatches).
For these looks, the only eyeshadows I used were the four colors in the Olive Martini quad. I used eight products altogether for these two looks, including brushes:
Products (from top to bottom):
Maybelline Limited Edition Eyestudio Quad in Olive Martini (retail: $9.49)
NYC Big Bold Mascara (retail: $4.99)
EcoTools Eye Shading Brush (retail: $3.99)
e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush (retail: $1)
Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum (original) in Ultra Black (retail: $10.95)
Maybelline Define-A-Brow in Dark Blonde (retail: $7.99)
Palladio Herbal Precision Eyeliner in Black Onyx (retail: $6.80)
LA Girl Pro Primer Eyeshadow Stick in Nude (retail : $4)
Here's a daytime look:
For this look I used the following products in this order:
1. Maybelline Define-A-Brow to fill in brows.
2. LA Girl Pro Primer applied from lashline to brow, blended with finger.
3. Seafoam shade in Olive Martini quad, applied to lid with e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush.
4. MAC Club dupe in Olive Martini quad, applied to crease and blended upward with e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush.
5. Light pinkish-beige shade in Olive Martini quad applied to brow bone and inner corners of eyes with e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush.
6. EcoTools shading brush used to blend entire eye.
7. Narrow end of sponge applicator that came with the Olive Martini quad used to apply MAC Club dupe under lower lash line, about halfway across lash line.
8. Narrow end of sponge applicator that came with Olive Martini quad used to apply seafoam shade to lower lash line, from midway point to inside corner of eye.
9. Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum used to line upper lashline.
10. Palladio Herbal Precision Eyeliner applied to waterline.
11. NYC Big Bold Mascara applied to upper and lower lashes.
Notice how the duochrome in the MAC Club dupe in the Olive Martini quad perfectly matches the seafoam shade on my lids. It makes it look like I applied more seafoam to my crease, but that's actually the duochrome in the MAC Club dupe that you see in my crease area.
And here's a nighttime look:
For this look I used the following products in this order:
1. Maybelline Define-A-Brow to fill in brows.
2. LA Girl Pro Primer applied from lashline to brow, blended with finger.
3. Dark brown shade in Olive Martini quad, applied to lid and crease and lightly blended upward with e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush.
4. Light pinkish-beige shade in Olive Martini quad applied to crease and all the way up to brow bone and also inner corners of eyes with e.l.f. Eyeshadow Brush.
5. EcoTools shading brush used to blend entire eye.
6. Narrow end of sponge applicator that came with Olive Martini quad used to apply dark brown shade under lower lash line (no liner was applied to upper lash line).
7. Palladio Herbal Precision Eyeliner applied to waterline.
8. NYC Big Bold Mascara applied to upper and lower lashes.
I love that the fine red shimmer in the dark brown shade in the Olive Martini quad adds some extra warmth to the overall feel of this eye look.
Side note: This is probably my favorite go-to eye look for nighttime. It's so easy to do, because all you need is one dark shadow to use for your lid, crease, and eyeliner. I also love that it's QUICK, because not applying any eyeliner to the upper lash line really cuts down on time. It's basically just swipe, blend, line and you're done!
Additional thoughts:
Initially, I was sad that the largest pan in the Olive Martini quad was reserved for the light pinkish-beige shade. I usually use the lid shades the most in any given quad, but after using this quad several times now, I'm grateful that Maybelline chose to give us more of the pinkish-beige shade. Why? Because it's a neutral color that works beautifully as not only a brow bone shade but also as a blending shade for any shadows that need extra blending or toning down. It's a serious multi-tasker and I love that it's not frosty (I'm super anti-frost these days when it comes to brow bone shades...I'm not really sure why, but I am). If Maybelline sold that color in an eyeshadow single, I would buy five of them right this minute.
I honestly could not be any more pleased with this quad--it might just be my favorite eyeshadow palette of the year (to date, that is).
Thanks for reading, and I'd love to know what you think of this quad if you already own it. If you don't already own it, do you think it's something that might work for you? Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Some of the products featured in this post were given to Nouveau Cheap for previous reviews.
Talk about perfect timing!! I just picked this up at CVS (bogo 50%)!! I MUST try this out tomorrow. Thanks G!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I especially love the daytime look. It really brings out your eye color! Can't wait to see this collection around here.
ReplyDeleteI love the night time look!
ReplyDeleteWhy do you convince me to buy more!!???? It's sooooo pretty!!!! I'd like to find some of the LA Girl primers to try out too.
ReplyDeleteI love this palette. I tend to use it like your first set of pics but I really really like the 2nd look too. I might just to play around with it tomorrow if I have time before work. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! Seriously, both are beautiful but that daytime look is giving me chills! I can't wait to play around with this quad, I'm so glad I got one!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your first look. I wish I knew how to use eye makeup efficiently. Even following instructions, I never get the "look".
ReplyDeleteBeautiful looks - I especially like the second one! The colors in this palette aren't really "me," so I'm going to skip it, but I love how it looks on you.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you that your blog is amazing and that I am just starting off blogging and hope to be as good as you someday. I really like the fact that you give honest reviews about drugstore products, because sometimes that's all I can afford! I don't know how I found your blog but I am sure glad I did!
ReplyDeleteThis is so unbelievably pretty! I must have it. I keep wondering, though, do you tweeze/wax your own brows, or do you get them done? They're perfect!
ReplyDeleteSince I know you love Retro stuff, too, I will dedicate this song to you. But I tweak the lyrics to say, "she's got lovely eyes..." in my mind.
ReplyDeleteThis is my weird way of saying that your eyes look beautiful. :P

Both looks are beautiful, G! I think I prefer the daytime look, because it brings out the color of your eyes. I know that's not the point of the post, though, but it's the look I will attempt (!) to copy. I hope it comes out as nicely as yours. ;)
ReplyDeleteDo they have glitter? If so does it stay in place?
ReplyDeleteMy only concern is, and I'm not sure from these and previous swatches: do the shades really give the impression of an Olive green look? do any shades have the ability to read olive green? If so then that's a deal breaker.
ReplyDeleteReally nice. I can't wait to get my hands on some of these new quads. I just hope I can, since they have not shown up anywhere in my area.. we often never get LE products.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to mention I use the "night time" technique all the time, especially with a color that has a lot of "character", like those fabulous duochromes. Great for daytime just use a lighter shade.. I actually wore it today with WnW Nutty, and Brulee on the brow, it is a go-to look for me when I am in a hurry or just do not feel like putting a lot of effort into my makeup. I did the exact same thing yesterday with the second color in the Mad About Mauve quad from this series, a duochrome mauve that flashes silver, and the highlight from the same quad.. looked great.
I have been resisting this palette because I really have more than enough eyeshadows but this Is seriously tempting!
ReplyDeleteI love both looks!! I did a very quick daytime look with this quad already, and I am so happy with the seafoam color! It really makes my hazel eyes pop! The duochrome green is stellar.. It's not quite as dark as label wh0re, and I like that! It applies and blends well.. You have to just make sure you dont blend it too much because you lose color.. I would have never bought this palette if you didn't bring it to our attention, G! I am so grateful!
ReplyDeleteI don't own it but wow!!!! The looks are beautiful! The duochrome looks great in the daytime look. I have to go back through past posts to see if you reviewed the LA Girl primer! I think it is time to try one!
ReplyDeleteI'm so frustrated because I can't find it anywhere! I've been looking and looking but it seems like all the good new limited edition stuff comes to Los Angeles last.
ReplyDeleteYea! I found it today at Walgreens. They had a HUGE maybelline end cap display. Unfortunately a lot of the new colors were already gone, but I did grab the last Olive Martini. I tried it today and it's really great. Lots of pigmentation on the darker colors. The third greeny-brown color is really cool. I want to go back and get another one of the quads. I had no idea they were of such high quality. Thank you Nouveau Cheap!
DeleteThose colors are so pretty! Ive wanted this quad ever since I saw beauty broadcast's tutorial using for this palette.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous look my friend!!! Beautiful!! I just picked up the 2 new color tattoo's in barely beige and rich mahogany and cannot wait to use them!!! Loving the Maybelline fall products!!:)) xoxo

I snagged the last one of these babies at the CVS today because of YOUR spot-on review. Thank you! It is dreamy - I mean, I literally could have doodled this in my book of dream make-up. I would never have noticed it without your review, and if I had I would have sighed piteously and passed it by if you hadn't warned us that the visibly chunky glitter was just an overspray. OMG this is pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe daytime look is so pretty - you posted this just in time. I wore it to work today - and every time I passed a mirror I was completely vain and checked out my handiwork. This quad is just so pretty. I'm traveling this weekend and considering making it the only eyeshadow I take with me - especially since I'm flying - less gels and creams to worry about as carry ons!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy I found this yesterday at Rite Aid! It was the only one left on the display. I love all the colors, even the pink-beige one. My favorite is definitely the duochrome. It's a great palette, and I will probably grab another one if I come across it again since it's a limited edition.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the day & night look. I tried it out today =)
I finally found this palette at Wegman's, along with the Pink-ish polish (forgot the name) and an eyeliner in Midnight Master (all in the same display). I'm wearing the eye products today and they're just as wonderful as you said!
ReplyDeleteGot this at Wags today along with the Falsies mascara and one of the Fall Color Show colors with the BOGO50%OFF deal. So excited!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. I saw the palette and thought, "Meh." Then saw the review, and had to look hard to find it! But I did and rocked the day look modified for night to a fashion show in San Francisco - whoohooo (I don't get out much). The seafoam green color matched a Sinful Color nail polish I was wearing. I've worn it a few more times since then. I just love this palette and would have never bought it without your review.
