A closer look at L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Gleaming Bronze

I love the L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows (click here for my full review). Today I'd like to show you the shade Gleaming Bronze, which I purchased when I spotted the Summer 2012 It's Gold Or Nothing At All collection a while back.

There are four shades of Infallible Eyeshadows in the Summer 2012 display, and I believe that three of the four colors are new (and possibly limited edition). I really hope L'Oreal makes Gleaming Bronze a permanent shade (I've heard it's permanent in Canada, so there's hope!).

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Gleaming Bronze
(retail: around $8.50, 0.12 oz)

Gleaming Bronze is not nearly as green as the permanent shade Golden Sage:

In fact, when I look at it alone, it seems more brownish-bronze than green:

BUT, when I compare it to other browns and greenish-browns I own, you can definitely tell that Gleaming Bronze has a lot of green to it:

I honestly don't think I have a color quite like Gleaming Bronze in my collection (and I own a lot of greens). I find that it wears nicely as an all-over shade from lashline to crease, or as a crease shade. It's quite versatile and I've been reaching for it lately when I want something just a tiny bit more interesting than one of my staple browns for a daytime eye look.

As with Golden Shade, I find Gleaming Bronze a breeze to apply, and the color payoff is fantastic. I highly recommend it if you're drawn to bronze/brown/green shades. But be sure to get it while you can--who knows if it will be become permanent (fingers crossed!).

Do you own Gleaming Bronze or any of the other shades in the Summer 2012 collection? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I picked up Gleaming Bronze and Gold Imperial about a week ago. You're right, Gleaming bronze is such a unique shade. Also Pink Sapphire, which I don't usually get pink shades, but I was so intrigued that I finally got it today :)

    1. I'd love to know what you think of Pink Sapphire. I've heard so many good things about that one, but I'm like you--I don't do pink on my eyes!

    2. I don't normally do pink on my eyes either. In fact, I think this is the first pink e/s I have purchased intentionally and not in a palette. This color has enough mauve to it, that I can pull it off without looking sick! Even without heavy liner, it looks really pretty. I have paired it with browns, purples, and my favorite, maroon/burgundy colors. All beautiful! :)

    3. I just picked up Pink Sapphire this weekend! At first when I put it on it looked very PINK, but I put a dark matte brown in the crease and it looked really nice. It's a pink that isn't that bubblegummy shade that makes you look like you're from the 80s, it has a metallic quality that's really pretty

    4. I picked up Pink Sapphire this weekend! When I first put it on I was a little scared, but then put a matte brown in the crease and I really liked it! It has a cool metallic quality, and it's not one of those bubblegummy pinks that make you look like you're from the 80s.

    5. I will definitely let you know! I'm a bit more giddy that it almost matches the color of my Nintendo 3DS :P

  4. I bought Pink Sapphire. I thought about the bronze and the gold but I was afraid that they were just repromotes of permanent colours. Nice to see that they are not. I'll have to pick them up.

    1. Yup! Only Golden Sage is the repromote! :)

  5. I don't know why L'Oreal mess the names up. Europe and the American continent (yes, America is a continent, not just a country) should have the same names. In the US, you appear to have the same shades with other names. Though I personally think they are not the exact same shades. For example, this Gleaming bronze looks like Bronze Goddess (L'Or Collection); Imperial Gold looks like Goldmine ((L'Or Collection) and Pink Sapphire looks like Forever Pink (permanent). As of right now, there's the Black Velvet Collection, 3 blackened almost matte shades, a purple, a green and a dirty black. Wonder if you'll get the doppelgangers of those?
Also, have you got any info on some new 6 shades to be released this summer? Don't know if they'll be permanent or LE, or if the're meant for the US or the rest of the world. I've seen pictures for 4, Liquid Diamond (metallic platinum silver), Endless Sea (metallic bluish teal), Smoldering Plum (black based purplish-plum), Glistening Garnet (cranberry with pinkish sheen) and Golden Emerald and Bottomless Java which I don't know what they look like.

    3. Hey xxMxx, this is off topic, but I wanted to say thumbs up to your reminder to us all that the word America is the name of a continent, not just the name of one country.

Back on topic, I cannot wait for G. to discuss the new releases tomorrow! I have all the colors that are available in the US at present (the original 12, and then3 new shades for Summer 2012) So I will be so excited to see more.

I am having a very busy/stressful month at present, so I haven't done as much sleuthing as you have done, xxMxx. But I did notice one thing that made me suspect more shades were about to be released. For those who receive Ulta flyers, take a look at the front cover of the most current flyer. It shows three infallible pots, and I could swear at least one of them looks like a new item!

G., I was going to send you a message about this, but I have been a ball of stress, and I didn't get around to it. But, of course, you are already on it. Yay! and Hooray!

Back off topic: I feel very "Nancy Drew" because I used the word sleuthing in a sentence. How often does that opportunity come up? Well, I'm off to pick up my homegirls, Bess and George. We are going for a ride in my salmon colored convertible. Later, peeps!

    4. What??!? you have them?? A post about them will be wonderful. I'm dying for the teal shade, fingers crossed it'll be available for us too!
By the way, Gleaming Bronze may be darker than Bronze Goddess, but cold be the lighting. I don't know. Either way it's a beautiful shade, Bronze Goddess is one of my favorites. Totally worth it.
And if the pink one is indeed like Forever Pink, I'll recommend it too. I don't like pinks but it looks beautiful when you put it on. Combined with a brown and/or burgundy? gorgeous!

  6. hmmm, almost picked this one up. i got Pink Sapphire (which is a gorgeous pink with a peachy tone) but i wasn't sure if Gleaming Bronze was going to be too warm for my fair skintone.....still thinking about picking it up. Displays at my drugstores still have it (even from weeks ago when i bought the pink one).....sooo....hmmmmmm. i'm loving these Infallibles...seems like i'm starting to collect them. LOL.

  8. I love these shadows as well! I don't usually do pink on the eyes either but i want to pickup pink sapphire to use as a highlight on my cheeks! I've been using amber rush & iced late as highlights & i love the look they give! beautiful products to use definitely in "outside the box" sorta ways.

  9. Where do they sell these new shades? I can't find them anywhere :(

  10. I didn't even realize there were LE shades of Infallible in this collection. I am a HUGE fan of khaki/green/bronzey colors, so I'm definitely picking this one up!

  11. I only bought this shade and the Pink Sapphire, and this one wears better and is more pigmented. The pink seems a little dry, which I've never seen in an Infallible shadow before. It's also sheer. I have to layer it, but it's pretty. Gleaming Bronze is amazing with brown eyes.

  12. I also have Gleaming Bronze which I love. I have also found that the most similar thing I own is Urban Decay's Chains. I'm not sure if it's still available but it's almost identical.

  14. Hmmm, yeah, this is definitely Bronze Goddess from the L'or collection. As far as I know, Bronze Goddess is NOT permanent in Canada (The permanent lineup for the Infallible eyeshadows hasn't changed in any of the stores in my city since they were first introduced). I was lucky enough to find Bronze Goddess in an old L'or display in Walmart the other day, and thank goodness -- it's so beautiful! So glad you guys finally got it down in the States. :)
