Spotted: new Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow Collection (8-pans!)

A HUGE thanks to reader Marsha for this sighting! Marsha spotted a new eyeshadow collection from Black Radiance at her local Walgreens recently and was kind enough to share.

NOTE: Wet n Wild and Black Radiance are both owned by Markwins. I want to make sure that those new to Black Radiance are aware of this BEFORE looking at the following photo.

Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow Collection
(retail: $6.99 at Walgreens)

Left to Right: Downtown Browns, Posh Plums, Urban Jungle

It probably goes without saying that these new Black Radiance palettes look A LOT like the Wet n Wild 8-pan palettes, but some of the colors are different; specifically the brown/nude palette. I literally cannot stop staring at that one! Oh Downtown Browns, you WILL be mine.

Over the past year, one thing I've heard repeatedly from readers is that you want Wet n Wild to release an all-nude or all-brown palette. Well, I would say that Downtown Browns is the next best thing!

As many of you know, I'm a long-time fan of Black Radiance (their face primer is my holy grail primer and I adore their lipglosses more than probably any other glosses at the drugstore). So I'm beyond excited to see 8-pans from this brand. For those new to Black Radiance, this brand doesn't tend to have the wide distribution that Wet n Wild does, but in my area (San Diego) I can find Black Radiance products at select Rite Aids and Walmarts. I know that they can be found at select CVS locations and, of course, at select Walgreens locations as well. Walgreens.com has a nice selection of Black Radiance products as well (with free shipping on orders $25+). HOPEFULLY these 8-pans will be on the Walgreens website SOON!

Thanks SO much, Marsha, for the great scoop and pic!

Have you spotted the new Black Radiance Eye Appeal 8-pans in your area yet? If so, have you purchased any of them? I would love to hear from you either way!

  1. They really do look like WnW! I wonder how they compare quality wise ...

  2. I must have! How much do they retail for?

  3. Wow, I had to look twice if I was reading the right vlog post. It's a WetnWild replica to the nth degree. I wanna get the nude palette, I hope to see it soon here in HI.

  4. G, this looks interesting!! Any idea where I can find Black Radiance in the San Diego area? I check Walgreens site and they said they weren't available in my area..

  5. I had to look twice to check that I wasn't reading the wrong post or something lol! These look exactly like WnW!! Downtown Browns is gorgeous indeed and you know we're waiting for swatches ;) x

  6. I spotted these today at my local Walgreens in South Florida. They retail for $6.99, but the Cosmetic Counter had $1.00 off coupons for Black Radiance products, so definitely ask your cosmetic counter associate if they have any back there ;) I purchased two of them: Urban Jungle and Downtown Browns, and they are FABULOUS. The quality seems to be identical to Wet n Wild eyeshadows. These two palettes are fantastic! The reason I did not purchase the purple palette (Posh Plums) is because there seemed to be one super glittery purple shade in there that looks a bit gritty, and the palette overall reminded me a bit of Petal Pusher. I can wholeheartedly recommend Downtown Browns and Urban Jungle...if you see these, don't pass them by, there are some very unique colors and you won't be disappointed with the quality because it is GREAT! Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share the goodness.

  7. Woah, they look identical! I've never even seen a Black Radiance palette before, or I would definitely pick up the browns (because how I could ever have enough neutrals and browns...)

  8. I don't have Black Radiance in my Area. I've been dying to try their baked blushes and eyeshadows and now you tease me with these! Oh G! *sigh* I'll just cross my fingers that it'll show up in my stores.

  9. I saw these at Walgreen's a couple days ago! Thought about buying one but I think I'm going to wait for reviews & swatches! :)
(& I had the price checked.. I can't remember exactly how much it was in my area, but I think it was around $7!)

  10. Hey there G! I just saw them as well, and posted a picture on my blog too. I think the colors looked a little different than the Wet 'n Wild versions - maybe a bit warmer? There wasn't quite as much shimmer either. The browns were absolutely gorgeous for those neutral lovers out there. I did not buy one, although I am wondering if I should just to see how they compare to the WnW version.

  11. Yup, saving my next $20 bill for Downtown Browns & Urban Jungle. DROOL.

  12. If these palettes are of good quality, this is definitely going to get Black Radiance more attention in the blogosphere!

  13. Downtown Browns=must have!!!
I've been waiting for something like this!

  14. Oh I am SO on the hunt for these... need all of them!

  15. OMG Marsha.. great find.. can you help get me a set :) I hope they have these online too. *cross fingers*

  16. Oh wow, I would never have thought these are NOT WnW were it not for the fact that you made that clear! I do wonder how they compare, but also why the same company would make two brands launch such similar (at least similar-looking) things!

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is so good to know they are both owned by the same company. CVS in the Boston area carry Black Radiance but not WNW. I love WNW and have been disappointed that I can't find it, but I'll check out Black Radiance for sure@

  18. Gasp! I want Downtown Browns! But I have never, ever seen any Black Radiance products where I live. I hope they show up on the website!

  19. Very interesting.... I guess I'm not at all familiar with this brand! I think I may have seen this display at my local Fred Meyer sometime before Christmas, maybe even before Thanksgiving. But I thought it was the 8-pan WnW collection. I was caught off guard because I thought Walgreens was the only store selling them. I'm going to have to start paying more attention to what I see!

  20. nerdyvixen, where in S. Florida did you find these? I would love to go and pick them up! Thanks!

  21. new to your blog. didn't know you're in the SD area! so am I!

  22. The parent company of wet n wild, MarkWins is also the parent company of Black Radiance. So you can bet its exactly like wet n wild. :)

  23. NERDYVIXEN!

Hello, I was curious as to where you found these in South Florida, as I've never been able to find Black Radiance products, but I really am intrigued by the Downtown Browns palette!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @nerdyvixen Does the Downtown Browns palette have mattes in it? Or are there tons of shimmer?

    ReplyDelete
  25. EliB: I mention this in my post--many Rite Aids and Walmarts in San Diego carry BR.

NerdyVixen: Thanks for confirming the price, AND for letting us know there are coupons. Awesome!!

    AubreyOhDang: Yay! Welcome. :)

Suzanne: Yes, I mentioned that at the top of this blog post. I'm hearing they are very similar but less shimmery. I hope to have them soon for a review!

  26. I can't see me NOT getting these. If they look a bit different than the WnW's I already have, they should be good to go. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow. Those do look like the WnW 8-pans. Unfortunately none of my local RiteAid or Walgreens have anything new up yet as they are clearancing out all the Christmas stuff. New stuff probably won't be out on my local shelves until this weekend or next week.

  28. It's crazy how similar they look to the WnW palettes. Like everyone else I think the brown palette looks amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bummer, Black Radiance isn't sold in my area. It's marketed towards black women, and living in New Hampshire there aren't many black people here! I hope it shows up online at Walgreens or Walmart.

  30. Wow, I just saw these in Walgreens this afternoon. I didn't do a side by side comparison with the WnW palettes but I think there is enough different in the BR colors to buy them. It's hard to pick, but I think the Urban Jungle might be my favorite of the three, but I also love browns and purples so I may end up with all three. And I love Black Radiance products - my favorite are the glosses - super affordable, fabulous colors, decent wear time, I must have at least a dozen. I've seen BR products in CVS, Walmart and Kmarts also, but have only seen these new eyeshadows in Walgreens.

  31. OK, I am just about to freak out now! These look amazing and I cannot wait to find and hunt these down! G, thank you always for all the amazing info!!

  32. hi! i live in North Florida and just picked up the Downtown Browns at a Walgreens for $6.99. the pigmentation is identical to the WnW 8 pan palettes. The palette is 1/2 browns and 1/2 purples. very pretty swatched, have not used yet on the eye. =)

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Jennifer What's the shimmer/glitter quotient like? I'm a fan of mattes, satins, pearls... but not so much metallics or glitter.
    Thanks for writing in!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Okay I just purchased Downtown Brown and I am somewhat disappointed that it is more of a mix of purples and browns but it is not a bad mix per se. I was expecting more of an all brown mix but I can deal. At the Walgreens I went to (on the corner of 86th/87th and Stony Island on the South Side of Chicago) they had some Black Radiance 4 shadow palettes on clearance and I snagged one, which is Neutral Zone, which I like a lot. I plan to get Urban Jungle and maybe Posh Plums.

  35. @StacyL and Katsune
I found them at the Walgreens on McNab RD and Rock Island in the city of Tamarac. There are only 2 spots for each palette, so there were a couple palettes left. Maybe check some other walgreens in the area, call around :) Hope you guys find them!

    @BooBooNinja
There aren't any mattes in these palettes, just a mix of shimmers, satins, and some glittery shades.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I was able to pick up a Posh Plums palette last night at my local Walgreens, but the Downtown Browns palette was sold out. I'll try to check a few other locations over the weekend. I used the $1 off tear-off coupon that someone mentioned earlier. Thanks again for the great info! I've had good luck in the past with BR eye shadows, so I can't wait to try these. :)

  37. Downtown Browns palette just looks amazing!

I hope WnW will eventually release a nice brown palette for us girls that don't have Black Radiance products nearby.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I just bought this palette. It should have been called Downtown Plums & Purples. There are a few browns, but there is a preponderance of purples (oh, alliteration never fails me!!) Just thought I'd let everyone know!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi, please tell me which stores in SD, where you found black radiance

    ReplyDelete
  40. That Downtown Browns palette is AWESOME!! I use this palette at least 3-4 times a week. The pigmentation is great and it lasts all day long! It's fully worth the $6-7 dollars.
