I just updated the CVS master list with a few new products and lost of new shades! I'm so very happy to hear that so many of you are saving lots of money and picking up lots of fabulous makeup products this time around, and I hope the savings continue for at least a couple more weeks (until everything's wiped out, that is).
I have received some requests for recommendations of products to purchase during the CVS Beauty Clearance Sale, but PLEASE NOTE: many of the products I"m about to recommend are also currently on clearance at other retail locations such as Walgreens, Target, BB&B, Rite Aid, various grocery stores and I think even Ulta.
So here are some recommendations based on products I personally own and love:

If you're a longtime reader of this blog, you are no doubt sick of hearing me talk about this product. This is my holy grail foundation and I am going to be devastated if Physicians Formula is discontinuing this (I'm trying to find out for sure about that as we speak). Anyway, if you are a powder foundation gal, and especially if you have oily skin, I think you might enjoy this quite a bit if you can find a shade that's a good match for you. I am an NC20 and I can wear either Translucent Light or Translucent Medium (the light one works in the winter while the medium works better in the summer for me when I have more color).
To answer a few of your questions: this does not leave a white cast in photos and the coverage is medium-full for me. I use the sponge applicator that comes with the compact for application because I prefer fuller coverage, but you could always apply with a brush for sheer coverage.
I used to use MAC Studio Fix for many, many years until I tried this product and I instantly became hooked. I love the way it looks right after application and I also love the way it looks as it fades because it fades very evenly, never turns orange and it leaves a nice dewy finish as it fades. Studio Fix always looked too heavy and chalky on my skin, but this one is just right. Obviously you know I love it because I just bought seven compacts during the CVS sale.
Physicians Formula Gel Cream Eyeliner Trios (75% off at CVS)
(click here for my original review)
I reviewed the trio for Green Eyes way back when these first came out in January of 2010 and to this day, I have not one bad thing to say about them. Quite simply, they ROCK. They apply like a dream, last all day and the colors are vivid and intense (use your own brush though--I use the e.l.f. studio small smudge brush, which is the only brush I use for my gel and cream liners--I LOVE that freaking brush!). You literally cannot go wrong with these trios, ESPECIALLY at 75% off.
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Wet Cement and Purple Pizzazz (75% off at CVS)
Wet Cement was one of the first gray cremes I ever bought at the drugstore (back in 2009) and it's still a favorite of mine. In fact I compared it to RGB Steel here and even though it's not a perfect dupe, it's a nice low-cost alternative. Purple Pizzazz also came out back in 2009 and it's one of the only purple jellies in my collection. I adore it (especially in sunlight).
Sally Hansen Carmindy Cream Blushes (75% off at CVS)
(click here from my original review)
I actually just reviewed these blushes not too long ago, and I LOVE them. If you are new to cream blushes or you've tried other cream blushes that have not worked for you, these might be just the ticket. They are EXTREMELY user-friendly (even for cream blush newbies) and it's virtually impossible to overdo it with these. You can build for more intensity or keep it light--these work either way and they blend like a dream using just your fingertips.
NYC powder blushes (75% off at CVS)
I really believe that NYC powder blushes are some of the most underrated powder blushes at the drugstore. They are wonderfully pigmented, come in some very wearable shades and, on my oily skin, they last and last. The packaging is blah and the colors aren't dazzling (for some they might be downright boring), but if you like earthtones and wearable shades, you're bound to find one here that will work for you.
Revlon Eyeshadow Single in Nude Slip (75% off at CVS)
(click here for my original review)
Released at the beginning of 2010, Nude Slip is one of my go-to shadows that's perfect for a "I'm in a hurry and can only sweep one shade on my lids before I'm out the door" type of day. It's not too light, it's not too dark. It's just right for my skintone and I've heard from many readers over the past two years who feel the same way about Nude Slip, so don't just take my word for it.
Revlon FabuLash Mascara (75% off at CVS)
Funky brush and all, this mascara doesn't seem to get much love but I actually bought it during the last CVS clearance sale and you know what? I really liked it. Remember: I prefer a little clumpage to my mascaras because I need to beef up my nonexistent lashes before I can be seen my humans. So if you don't like thicker mascaras, don't even consider this one. But the funky brush didn't bother me, and I found myself using this one up completely before moving on to something else. So if you're on a tight budget and like a thicker volumizing mascara, this could very well work out for you.
For more information regarding these products and all of the other products currently on clearance at CVS, please consult the master list here (updated regularly).
And don't forget that the Wet n Wild 6-pan eyeshadows are being DISCONTINUED, so if your CVS carries Wet and Wild, now is the time to stock up on your favorites since all shades are 50% off.
I've been trying to get to the CVS clearance now for two whole days and I hope to pete there is something left to choose from! I will have to try the Sally Hansen cream blushes and the Physicians Formula Gel Cream Eyeliner trios. I haven't tried either one yet! Thanks for the recommendations! <3
ReplyDeleteI had actually purchased the PF Liner trios and Revlon's Nude Slip in the last couple months, on sale. I still got a killer deal :) I love both products (I even purchased Nude Slip after reading your review... nude eyeshadows are irresistable to me!)
ReplyDeleteGreat share!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the Sally Hansen cream blushes and the Phys. Formula trio I bought (glam brown eyes, which has a dark taupe, a fuschia, and a black with fuschia sparkles-- do you have this one?) They were all out of Nude Slip in the only CVS anywhere near me, dangit!
ReplyDeleteWhat other colors are available in the PF powder foundation? I wear MAC nc42. What color do you recommend? Do they make a medium deep in Phys. formula?
ReplyDeleteI've just discovered how awesome the wet&wild eyeshades are, I hope they bring something great to replace the discontinued palettes. I have all but the Pride palette, because I'm terrified of blue eyeshadow. But looking at temptalia.coms swatches these colors look beautiful. Should I get it anyway?
ReplyDeletei dont think your foundation is going to be discontinued. I was at my local meijer today and they had PF on sale but not that one. wouldnt all shops be clearing out there stock then?
ReplyDeleteI love the Physican's Formula powder too G! I hope its not discontinued!!! I might have to swing by CVS this week and scoop up those PF eyeliners and a backup powder! Great deals! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all the info posted, it is so HELPFUL! I really appreciate it! :o)

When I went to CVS last weekend and not one thing was marked clearance nor did anything scan with a sale/clearance price and I so want the PF gel liner trios. I am thinking that I just may have to find the time to take another ride out to the country and check again...
ReplyDeleteI picked up a Nude Slip last week when I went hunting. I love it so much, I sent my mother out (who lives 30 minutes away but that I will see next weekend) and she bought me 3 more!
ReplyDeleteI ordered this, and the revlon photoready 3d mascara from ulta.com - just got these yesterday. this blush is gorg! can't to try the mascara this morning!
