Review: New Prestige Flawless Touch Blush in Sugar & Spice

Prestige Cosmetics, which are available at Rite Aid, Ulta, CVS and other retailers as well as online, is a brand that I really feel is underrated and sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when it comes to drugstore makeup. I adore their My Blackest Lashes Mascara, Total Intensity Eyeliner Pencils, Skin Loving Minerals Lip Glosses and many other products, so I was very excited to receive a product from their newest collection, Flawless Touch Blushes, recently for review. Today I'd like to show you the shade I received:

Prestige Flawless Touch Blush in Sugar & Spice
(retail: $6.95, 0.14 oz)

The packaging of these blushes is unique--I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this little dome-shaped compact, and I know I have never seen a blush blush that is attached in quite this way:

The brush is curved, so it sits on the blush in a very natural way. There's also a little peg on the compact, which you align with the hole on the back of the brush handle so that it fits snugly in place. This would be ideal if I actually used this brush for application (I did use it a few times and it works in a pinch but I do prefer to use my own blush brush for application). Since I do use my own brush, this fun packaging element is, sadly, lost on me.

The photo above is a very accurate representation of this shade. It's an orangey-peachy-terracotta color that could easily double as a bronzer and/or contour shade on fair to medium skintones.

Finish: As you can see above, this blush does not contain any sparkle or shimmer (I don't believe any of the blushes in this range contain sparkle or shimmer but don't quote me on that). There is a very soft sheen to this blush that keeps it from looking chalky on the skin.

Texture & blendability: I find this blush to be finely-milled and the texture is not chalky, overly dry or hard to work with. I've been using it for about a month now and I haven't had any issues with application and I find it to blend quite easily on top of my foundation. As the label indicates (see above), it's suggested that you sweep your brush lightly against the powder to avoid "excess powder dusting" (aka: fallout), but I've noticed that the fallout I get when I use my regular blush brush and I don't sweep lightly is no better or worse than other drugstore powder blushes I own.

Pigmentation: Sugar & Spice is a buildable shade that doesn't come out strong right out of the gate. It's not one of those blushes that you have to be very careful with during application, but it does build easily for more intensity. For me, two swipes of this blush per cheek is all I need to get the color where I want it to be. If I go back for a third swipe, it's much too pigmented for me personally.

Staying power: In my experience, the more I use, the better the staying power. When I use it lightly (one swipe with my blush brush per cheek) the color will fade after about 4-5 hours. But if I use two swipes, the color pretty much stays in place all day and into the early evening on my oily skin.

FINAL VERDICT: If you're looking for a new drugstore blush that doesn't contain shimmer or sparkle, I think this might be a collection worth looking into. The packaging is cute and functional and the shade I received, Sugar & Spice, can easily double as a bronzer/contour shade. The pigmentation is easily buildable and  I find the texture of this blush to be smooth and easy to blend. I'm excited to try additional shades.

You can view/purchase all of the shades in this range on the Prestige website. Also, I have noticed that a few of my local Rite Aids already have the Flawless Touch Blushes built into the permanent wall display, so if you haven't spotted this collection in your area yet, hopefully it will be there soon.

Are you already a Prestige fan? Are you excited to find/try these new blushes?

  1. I think the blush has a very soft and natural color - really pretty. I like the fact that it's buildable.

Prestige is a nice drugstore brand. I love blush so I'll be looking into it. Thanks for the introduction.

  2. I was wondering do you use primer or anything else underneath when the blush stays on all day? Sometimes I just use blush products by itself without anything so knowing this would help :).

  4. I've been trying to find these for months and months. They were in a magazine, but no one was stocking them.

  5. Like Prestige's liquid liners! I like this blush but I doubt I can find it in the store--most drugstores near me carry a pitiful amount of Prestige products.

  7. that is a really gorgeous shade! I'll now be on the look out at my ULTA (the only place in my area that sells prestige).
