The Wednesday Question

I can't wait to see your answers to this one:

If you could bring back one discontinued beauty product from the drugstore,
what would it be?

That's pretty easy for me: it would be Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer. I was just getting the hang of how to use this product, and falling deeply in love with it, right as it was discontinued. I stocked up and bought five pots of it during the last CVS beauty clearance sale but now that I'm down to two pots, the "grief" is setting in. Why, Maybelline, WHY???

oh lord, whenever i run out, its gonna be a sad, SAD day.

  2. The CoverGirl TruShine lipsticks! They were niiiice, very similar to the MAC Lipsticks in the lustre formula.

  6. Oh my, I completely agree w/ St. Ive's oil-free moisturizer (loved that stuff) AND the Cover Girl TruShines (still have a couple back ups of my two favorites - the nude one and the one sheer berry reddish one)...

I'm also going to add my Almay One Coat Light & Easy foundation stick... I no longer have back ups of that one! Man, how I adored that thing!

  7. Sally Hansen Magical nail polish! It was amazing!

  8. G., you need to go to Big Lots! When I went last week my Big Lots had a bowl full of the Maybelline Mousse products. :) xoxo!

  9. Almay made an amazing automatic double ended eyeliner a few years ago in a purple case. Black on one end, white on the other. This liner was A-maz-ing! The colors were so pigmented and smooth!!!! Why oh why did they ever discontinue it!?!?!?! Ok, time to calm down! LOL

  10. you know what I miss?
The old lipglosses from Neutrogena..I forgot exactly what they were called but now they have some that are super glittery and I dont like them.
One of their old lipglosses color was a dupe for nars Turkish Delight. I miss it.

  11. Almay compact foundation and stick foundation. Those both ROCKED, and the colors matched me perfectly. Sadly, they weren't around for more than a couple years, I don't think... :(

Also Maybelline Extreme Moisture lipstick in Sweet Honey.

  13. Max factor Mascara and Maybelline had a lipstick color called sultry suede in college..perfect brick cool red. Never found a dupe....

  14. I would love to see Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. I missed out on it and would love if it was easily accessible.

  15. Seconding ahimsa, my Big Lots also has a ton of that stuff! I'm not sure if it's *exactly* the same, but there's a whole big storage container full of it.

  16. The Sally Hansen Nail Prism polishes :( We had like all of them and threw them out when they started getting old. WHY DID WE DO THAT?!?!?

  17. Sally Hansen nail polish, the prisim colors, soooo pretty. I just saw one on a nail blog this week and I was so mad I can't have it.

  18. St. Ives made a mineral microdermabrasion scrub that wasn't made from cracked peach pits or walnuts or any of those things. Why I liked it is because I used to do research studies for a dermatologist. One of the studies involved getting a microdermabrasion scrub once a week. That St. Ives was just like that one at the dr's. The dr couldn't sell it because it was just a test. Then St. Ives discontinued it and I'm bummed.

  19. The only thing that has been discontinued that has made me sad (at least that I can remember) are a couple moisturizers. It seems like every time I find one I like, they stop making it. I loved Clean & Clear Oxygenating Ultra Light moisturizer (so nice for my oily skin!) and I liked the Biore Dual Fusion moisturizer.

  20. I miss Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara a lot, but if I'm just picking one, I want L'oreal On The Loose eyeshadows back. There were about a million colors, and they were so shiny and shimmery and awesome. I still have a few, but a few more have spilled along the way. I wish I could replace them!

I'm not even going to think about all the discontinued nail polish I want; it would just be too sad!

Recently discovered your blog, and I'm loving it!

  22. Hands down, my Holy gGrail..Max Factors Redwood Perle lipstick. I am at the point of going over to Three Custom Colors and ordering 2 tubes to be hand made . The originals were about $8.00 each at Ulta..2 tubes from 3CC..$50.00 and I don't care. It is the only lippy I have ever felt was right for this red head.

    Waving from Houston.

  23. Maybelline Moisture Extreme lipsticks. They were frickin-a-mazing.

  24. Clarion liquid eyeliners. Though the WnW liquid liners (not the H2O proof ones) have the same kind of nice brush, not that miserable poky business.

I feel sad all over again now that someone mentioned John Frieda Beach Waves. That stuff smelled SO GOOD, there is a replacement but it smells, for lack of a more delicate analogy, like an old lady's purse.

  25. There have been so many where do I start? In the 90's Loreal had a better selection of nail polish colors. I really miss Sheer Sizzle. It's a sheer gold I've never found a dupe for.

Suave Milk & Honey Shampoo and Condtioner(the first formlua) it got rid of flakes and it wasn't even suppose to.

Maybelline Colors of You Cafe au lait foundation. This line from the 90's was for women of color

Revlon Mocha Mirage Lipstick from their women of color line from the 90's.

  26. Gotta be Sally Hansen Magicals and Prisms, oh and Chromes too while we're at it. Clarins 230, and Liquid Euphoria too.

And all of Max Factor needs to come back to the US.

  27. I can't decide between 2 lip products. Maybelline Wet Shine in Hint of Honey (my perfect nude that pulled purple on my sister and she gave to me too late) or MAC Dazzleglass in Lightly Prancing (bought it on a whim in December and looks great over the Maybelline gloss to amp up the shine).

  28. Oh wait, I suppose I should actually answer this question! Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. BRING IT BACK, Sally. I never had a chance the first time and I will NOT pay $30 on eBay. :(

  29. @Miss.XoXo: I think you are talking about Neutrogena lip gloss in 'Groovy'. I hate the taste/smell but loved the color/wear. I still have one but would love if they improved it & then brought it back :)

  30. I loved the Maybelline Pure foundation. Not quite as sheer as a tinted moisturizer, but no heavy coverage either. Covered just enough and let my skin breathe. I considered buying some off Ebay, but it will only get harder and harder to track down so I might as well just let it go. *sniffle*

  31. Oh I finally got one: Revlon Stone Edge lipstick & nail polish. Used to wear the heck out of that stuff in 1998.

    Also, the original Sea Breeze.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Milani Sunset Duo in 01 Sunset City. It has THE MOST perfect bronzer I've ever used, along with a gorgeous blush shade which I'm guessing would be a great dupe for Nars Orgasm.

  33. Agree with above poster on the Beach Waves spray, but I wish Reflect.com would come back (their custom for you makeup individually created to your needs). I think they went out of business, it was a off-shot of a bigger makeup manufacturer who probably wanted to see if there was a market for individualized makeup care and body products but did not have enough demand.
