Attn Bonne Bell fans: 10.0.6 IS BACK!!!

Whenever I post about Bonne Bell or ask you one of those "What classic drugstore product would you like to see come back" questions, I always get a ton of responses that you'd love to see Bonne Bell bring back their iconic toner from the 70s and 80s, Ten-O-Six:

Well guess what? IT'S BACK!

I spotted this display at CVS recently, and although they've "updated" the name to "Formula 10.0.6", the toner is the ORIGINAL FORMULA (and just in case anyone's curious, I checked the back of the bottle and it does say "Bonne Bell"):

 Formula 10.0.6
So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser (left)
Best Face Forward Daily Foaming Cleanser (right)
(retail: $5.99 each or 2 for $11)

 Formula 10.0.6
Keep Me Clean Clarifying Facial Wipes (left)
Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask (right)
(retail: $5.99 each or 2 for $11)

Ten-O-Six fans: how do you feel about this product coming back into the marketplace? I believe it's been available in Australia for a number of years, but I think it's wonderful that we can now easily access it here in the US again! If you're not "old" enough to remember the original Ten-O-six, are you curious enough to give it a try this time around?

  1. This is also available at Ulta. I actually bought a few things from this line there last year, the deep down detox mask & mattifying lotion - not a fan at all.

  2. I saw this brand pop up on ULTA's website awhile back and was curious about it! It's BOGO half off this week if anyone didn't know.

  3. I think it is great that they are bringing back a cult product, but I don't think I would buy it. Skin care technology has advanced so much since the 70s; it's comparable to using a computer from the 70s today. I would much prefer the latest technology.

  4. Tammy: Thanks for the extra info! I'm sorry you weren't a fan of the products you bought though. :(

Steph: Oooh, that's great to know. Thank you!

    PCS: But I LOVE Commodore64 computers! ;)

  5. Exciting! I think this is great for people that were dedicated users of this product back in the 70's.

I hope they keep it this time!:)

    Great post G!

  6. I've been very happy to see so many retro products coming back out. I wasn't a big fan of this one though.

  7. I've also seen this line at select Target stores. I had no idea the line was Bonne Bell! I really love the mud mask as an overnight spot treatment - works wonders for shrinking pimples!

  8. I have to say, I REALLY agree with PCS! I'd be interested in seeing the ingredient list, though...I don't hold out much hope for it not having witch hazel, or alcohol, or something very drying in it...

  9. I have not seen Bonne Bell in years, I used 10-0-6 in the 70's and I would love to introduce the line to my daughter

  10. I used to love Bonne Bell when I was a teenager & college student. While I'd love to see more of their products return, I won't be buying 10-0-6 - it's very strong stuff & only for very young & oily skin.

  11. I was jonesing for something like this a couple of weeks ago when it was so hot and my face felt gross; ended up with CVS brand toner with no alcohol or drying stuff in it, it does have vitamins and such; I stuck it in the fridge and it feels WONDERFUL. I expected it to burn like the old 10-0-6 or Sea Breeze but it didn't. But I guess you can't use it on mosquito bites like we used to with Sea Breeze. (And it came in a glass bottle...geez, I'm old.)

  12. I am SUPER excited! I loved all the Bonne Bell products when I was a teen in the 70s and I was just telling a friend recently how much I specifically miss 10-0-6... I never thought of it as overly strong or drying - any more so than Seabreeze - and I never actually had pimples back then, so I was using it on pretty average teenage skin.

The one thing I remember most about 10-0-6 is the smell. I can't wait to check it out and see if it smells the same!

Wow - Love's old fragrances, Bonne Bell's retro favorites... I am in middle-aged heaven! :o)

  13. I've been using 10-0-6 for 36 years and panicked when I couldn't find it. Yes it is back, from Australia, and I have both the original bottle and the new bottle in hand as we speak, the new formula is similar but NOT THE SAME, the ingredients are different. I've found a few sites that have the original formulas and I think I will buy them all up while I can....Can't let a great thing go!

    1. Could you be specific on what sites I could find The original formula please? In the mean time I'm gonna give the new one a try. I used 10-06 for years. Couldn't live without it. I would add it to hot water in my bathroom sink and steam my face it worked wonders

  15. Does anyone know where I can get the Deep Down Detox Mask? I've bought it before from CVS and fell in love with it but can't seem to find it anymore

  16. I have used Bonnie Bell 1006 lotion since 1957, still like it, but the formula has changed some, regardless of how it is advertised it is not quite the original. Still like it though. I am 85 and told I look 15 years younger. Lots of stores used to sell it. Belks was one and I bought it by the gallon as all four of my children used it. Glad to know the CVS carries it, so do not have to order. marigold 85

  17. I love Bonne Bell 10-0-6 and getting for my daughter. My skin is way younger for it and hope the new formula is as good as the old - THANKS!

  18. I used Bonne Bell 10-0-6 Lotion when I was a teenager. It worked for me very well for almost ten years until my skin quality changed somewhat in my mid-twenties. I'd love to get it for my son's acned skin. But I'm living in Thailand now, so it's a bit of a long shot to get hold of some here.

  19. I started using ten-o-six lotion in 1968, when I was 14. Seventeen Magazine had an offer of several samples of Bonne Bell products for a dollar, or something like that. It was a little bottle about two ounces or so and by the time it was gone, I was a convert! I used Noxema followed by ten-o-six, twice a day and just ten-o-six when I got home from school and after dinner, or any time my face felt a little dirty. I didn't need makeup because my skin was absolutely flawless. I've always had really sensitive skin, but it didn't bother me until I was in my late 30s. I see where one VERY long-time user says it isn't exactly the same as it used to be, so I wonder if that is why I suddenly started being allergic to it after a quarter century.

  20. More VOC chemicals! Enough already!

  21. Can anyone tell me where you can find the ORIGINAL formula?

  22. I used 10-0-6 as a cleanser in the 60s. It cleared up my acne and never made my skin too dry. I used Ponds cold cream first, then the 10-0-6 on a cotton pad. And it smelled wonderful! I often got asked what cologne I was using! I am 65 and still have great skin. Now I just cleanse with the cold cream, since my skin is dryer. I wash it off in the shower. No soap on face! I miss the 10-0-6 scent, though.

  23. I've tried gazzilion face cleaners over the years and nothing worked as well as ten-o-six. It really keeps the pores cleaned out so you don't have enlarged pores. I hope they didn't change the formula.

  24. This is the best skin cleanser on the market. The best for getting rid of acne. It should be $50 per bottle for how good it works. But its cheap, and gets rid of pimples like magic, and fast! So glad its back.

  25. I had hives once or twice and my sister had an allergic rash to some chemo. it was the only thing that calmed the itching. I've had a few pimples pop up and it took care of those too. I have a fraction of an ounce left of the original formula and I'd love to find more to buy. I actually use it for a first aid product for mosquito bites, etc. I have heard that the new product, also by Bonne Bell, does not have the original ingredients.

  26. Meijer Stores just started carrying this again! This is what kept my skin perfect all through my teens and 20's!
