If you caught my post last week about the new limited edition NYC summer collection called Bronze Bliss, you know that I was SO excited about the two limited edition Blushable Creme Sticks! I love these things, and I was thrilled to see a bronzer and a highlighter in this collection.
I picked up the highligher, Gold Radiance, at Rite Aid, and I've been testing it out for about a week now:
NYC limited edition Blushable Creme Stick in Gold Radiance
(retail: $3.99, 0.28 oz)
My camera really distorted the true color of this product, but in post-editing I was able to tweak the following pictures to get them as close as possible to what I see with my naked eye (by the way, I try to do this with ALL photos I post on this blog--it really bothers me if I post a pic that doesn't closely resemble what I see with my naked eye):
Here are few pics of what Gold Radiance looks like when swatched on my arm. Keep in mind that this is BEFORE blending:
As you can see, this shade is a lovely pale gold with a tiny hint of champagne. I LOVE it.
But I do want to warn you non-glitter-lovers out there that once this product is blended on the skin, there are some gold glitter particles that you can see quite easily with the naked eye. Here's a pic of it blended on the top of my hand:
And here's a pic of Gold Radiance blended onto my (otherwise makeup-free) face:
You can see that the gold glitter on the top of my cheekbone and to the right of my eye reflects off the flash of my camera in this pic. In real life, the light has to hit my face at a certain angle for the glitter to become obvious, but when I see it, I can REALLY see it. In other words, you're going to have to love sparkle to use this product, for sure.
I found that this product lasted all day on my skin, but the shimmery color did lose its vibrancy before the end of the day, leaving behind just the gold glitter on my skin.
FINAL VERDICT: Used strategically, the NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Gold Radiance is a very easy way to give your skin a golden sparkle exactly where you want it. This product didn't seem to migrate to other areas of my face, and I like using it on my upper cheek bones for a golden sparkle to help illuminate my skin. I would probably only use this product at night, but that's only because I'm not big on glitter in the daytime. I don't regret this purchase at all because I don't have another cream product like this in my stash, and for $3.99 I think it's quite a bargain given how easily it blends on the skin. I can't wait to try the LE bronzer next!
Have you spotted the NYC LE Bronze Bliss collection in stores yet? Have you purchased anything?
I saw this in store and was curious about it, but the glitter is a deal breaker for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat great swatches! Such a wonderfully priced product. However, I'm still unsure if I'll buy it due to the glitter...
ReplyDeleteI have one of these cream blushes but in another shade. I got it at CVS during their clearance sale. I haven't used it yet. I think mine has visible glitters too, but I don't mind it :)
ReplyDeleteI wish it was more "sheen" than "glitter" boo!! I LOVE the cream sticks from spring 2010, I wish they went that route instead. They need more fun colors for spring/summer this year.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I have a few of their cream blushes and I really like them.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to pick one up, but if I don't like the glitter, then I'll hand it down to my daughter.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I think I want it just to look at! A big gold stick? Yeeeeah!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I haven't seen the new display in my area yet. I'm hoping it will hit here soon because I'd love to purchase for the Blog!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this and I want it so bad! It's just beautiful glitter and all! I wish it was more widely available here in Canada. Thanks so much for the review and swatches.
ReplyDeleteI have not been able to get to the drugstore in a week and half!! I hope there are some of these left when I get there finally! Fingers X'd!!!
ReplyDeleteToo bad there's glitter. I would have preferred if they repromoted the LE ones from last year (or if this one was straight shimmer - I'd never use the bronze version myself).
ReplyDeletei agree, more sheen less glitter! thanks for the review and the heads up!
ReplyDeleteLOL - I LOVE glitter, so these are totally for me! I can't wait to pick up the gold (saw it at my Rite Aid the other night but was in a hurry and didn't stop to look.) Do you think you could use this as a "multiple"? (i.e. as a wash of shimmer on the eyelids aka shadow or on the brow bone to highlight, and/or over a lipstick to add gold shimmer, in addition to a cheek highlighter? I am very tempted to do this since the color and sparkles are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely, but I'll hold out for one without glitter. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI NEED this!
