I'm not sure I've asked this question before but, even if I have, I'd love to ask it again so here we go:
What discontinued drugstore item/color/collection/entire line of products would you like to see brought back and made permanent ASAP?
There are so many that I can think of, but if I had to narrow it down I'd say the Revlon Street Wear Collection. But I'd also love to see L'Oreal bring back the Rouge Pulp lip colors and On the Loose shimmer powders. Oh, and thanks to a lovely reader who recently reminded me of this little drugstore brand: Sweet Georgia Brown. I LOVED their products! Oh, and of course I loved Flame Glow, and how can I forget Max Factor? I really wish they'd put Max Factor back into US drugstores. I know they haven't been gone long, but I already miss them.
OK, how about you? What would you like to see brought back ASAP? A certain shade of lipstick? An entire collection? Or maybe a whole brand? Let's hear it!
max factor's 2000 calorie mascara! =[
ReplyDeletegreat question =]
Max Factor....period. I miss it too :(
ReplyDeleteCoty 24 lipstick! The color Apricot Honey was my HG. I will miss it forever.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see L'Oreal bring back many of their old lines. Especially Rouge Pulp, I agree with you. This would be a great time for it to come back too, since liquid lip colors are all the rage right now.
I was sad when Max Factor left too.
I am unable to find Black Radiance makeup. They have a website and say they are at WallyWorld and CVS. But I haven't seen them in about 5 years.
ReplyDeleteNot a makeup but beauty; my ultimate favorite of all time fragrance is Victoria Secret's Decadent Desire. I spent $90 on tons of it 5 years ago during clearance.
max factor & SH0Hidden Treasure ;)
ReplyDeleteMax factor and SH Hidden Treasure!
ReplyDeleteMax Factor, for its history alone.
ReplyDeleteI used to use Sweet Georgia Brown in college! Thanks for the memory there!
Revlon Street Wear, for my mother, who still mourns the loss of her beloved "Stain" lipgloss.
Revlon Street Wear - specifically the nail polish!
ReplyDeleteStreet Wear, without question.
ReplyDeleteRevlon Street Wear. Hands down. No questions asked. I NEED that back! :P
ReplyDeleteRevlon Street Wear. Dumb of them to discontinue that line.
ReplyDeleteMax Factor for sure for me as well. I love it. Luckily there are nice UK bloggers who are willing to ship me the 2000 Calorie mascara!
ReplyDeleteI love Max Factor 2000 Calorie - I mean, I don't really care for the entire line but this mascara will be missed!
ReplyDeleteI also really like the L'Oreal Juice Stick... those things are awesome.
I would like to see wet n wild bring back their acne skincare line. They used to make a fantastic BHA facial toner that cost less than $5. It was the only drugstore toner that contained 2% salicylic acid and also completely gentle and alcohol free, which is something I loved because I have dry skin. Back then Rite Aid used to have 99cent sales on all wet n wild items periodically, and I would stock up on the toner every time.
ReplyDeletewet n wild also made a really good acne spot treatment (2% salicylic acid). I really liked it because it was a lightweight clear gel.
I loved street wear! Did you see their product placement in the Josie and the Pussycats movie? I loved the lipstick when I was 7 or 8.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know wnw had skin care! I'd love to see that!
I'd love to see MF back as well!
Revlon's High Dimension collection. eye makeup mostly and it all had reflects in it....i adored their bronze mascara! (it flaked horribly but it looked SO COOL.) i bought some of the liners offa Ebay last year.
ReplyDeletei knew a few gals who'd like the Skinlights back too.
and i'd go for L'Oreal's Rouge Pulp too since i never did get to buy some as a kid.
The colorama nail polishes and the Sally Hansen Nail Prisms. I think I still have Burgundy Orchid, but they had other great shades like Lapis Amethyst.
ReplyDeleteMaybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lipstick! They don't make lipstick like that anymore...it was had a beautiful sparkle to it that wasn't little girly. It was subtle and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh and Maybelline Express Makeup Shine Control. That was better than their remaining concealer. Perhaps you could have used it as a foundation too. The color range was better than most concealers and nearly fit my pale complexion. (I think the remains I own of the stick have gotten darker over the years :( )
**My Favorite Lipstick EVER: L'Oreal Grecian Lilac (late 80's-early 90's - I went through MANY tubes of this!) It was just the regular formula - there might have only been one back then??
ReplyDeleteAlso L'Oreal Glam Shine lipglosses and Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds lipsticks and glosses (can you tell I love sparkles?!?) :)
Cover Girl's Trushine lipsticks.... Blushberry Shine was my HG lipstick. It was a sheer, perfect wash of color. Boo, Cover Girl.
ReplyDeleteI'm embarrassed that I can't remember the name, but there was a Covergirl mascara that I always used because it would not budge. I could cry a river while sweating in Amazonian heat and it would still look perfect. I had nice lush long lashes all day long. It was in a burgundy/maroon tube and was a waterproof formula that was discontinued in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteEveryone else has mentioned some of the others I miss, like SH prisms and Revlon Streetwear polishes. I wish Revlon would bring those back but in the new formulas that dry much quicker. I have one Streetwear polish left but never use it because I would need 10 hours to let it dry without denting. I'd also like SH to bring back the chromes, I know you can still get chrome polishes elsewhere but for some reason I'm nostalgic for the SH ones.
I'm new to Max Factor and bought a ton of it on clearance at Walmart, and want all of it back! I bought some crazy colored eyeshadows on a lark since they were only ten cents each, and I love those crazy colors now! I also like how they are only medium pigmented, so you can have a nice soft wash of color, or layer and build for bolder color.
I also miss Natural Wonder by Revlon, cheaper but just as good as normal Revlon. The eyeshadows had wonderful color payoff and this is before all the high intensity eyeshadows out there now. So I wore Natural Wonder e/s for drama to go clubbing back in the day.
My number one product I want back is a perfume called Chimere (Prince Matchabelli). That was my signature perfume in college and I don't know why they discontinued it, it was so mysterious and sophisticated, or so I thought at 20.
Speaking of sophisticated perfumes, that new Love's Rainforest is a surprise! I expected another mild innocent fragrance but it is gorgeously grown up and sophisticated. I am loving it. Thanks again, G, for having that giveaway. I'll be buying more of it when I use up this bottle.
L'oreal Shine Delice Lipsticks-Loved Ginger something or other.
ReplyDeleteAlso, CG Trushine lipsticks, these were my favorite
Maybelline Illegal Lengths mascara!
ReplyDeleteWhat does HG mean?
ReplyDeleterobin: "HG" stands for "Holy Grail", meaning the best product of its kind for you. An example of an "HG" for me would be Maybelline Super Stay concealer. It works so well for me that I've stopped looking at, or using, any others and I repurchase this product over and over again. So it has achieved Holy Grail Status, or HG for short. Hope that helps! :)
ReplyDeleteTribe perfume
ReplyDeleteOf the ones already mentioned: big yes to the Revelon Streetwear, L'Oreal Rogue Pulp and Maybelline Wet Shine lines.
ReplyDeleteOther things I miss: Liquid Euphoria nail polish, Maybelline Crackle nail polish, no name Hello Kitty Halloween makeup I used to buy at Target, L'Oreal "waters" polish (can't remember the real name of the line), and Physician's Formula leopard print eye shadow - it was the perfect sparkly nude shade for my skintone.
I liked the WnW skin care too, they should bring that back for sure. Max Factor mascaras at least :) and I too liked Street Wear and I also liked the short-lived Vital Radiance line by Revlon.
