When I was out and about this weekend I couldn't believe I spotted some Halloween makeup displays at Rite Aid. Now don't get me wrong, I love Halloween, but it's not even Labor Day yet!
Anyway, I wanted to show you the new displays--some of them are almost identical to last year's, but some are new (to me at least). As any good drugstore makeup lover knows, Halloween displays sometimes contain a few hidden gems that can be used all year around, and I think I spotted one or two in this year's crop, so let's get to the pics.
I remember seeing these polishes last year but I never got around to purchasing one. The concept is that you can either twist the lid and use the fine-point brush to make stripes, or you can pull the lid off and squeeze the polish onto your nails to make designs. If you've owned one of these, I'd love to hear from you. Do they work?
2 Way Nail Art Pen & Striping Brush (retail: $3.99)
Here's the first of several new Halloween goodies from Fantasy Makers. For those of you who don't know, Fantasy Makers is a Halloween-specific line made by Wet n Wild. This year they've released two kits that come with palettes and accompanying stencils for face-painting. The palettes look like they're all cream shadow/paints (glitters, mattes and shimmers) but I could be wrong. Maybe there are some powders in there as well, but I don't think so.
Fantasy Makers Hauntingly Hip Kits in Bewitching Beauty and Gilded Angel (retail: $6.99)
Also from Fantasy Makers, there are two new kits that each contain one mini nail polish, one eyeshadow duo, one tube of lipstick and a set of false lashes.
Fantasy Makers Vamp Vixen (retail: unknown)
Fantasy Makers Twilight Witch (retail: unknown)
If I remember correctly, the eyeshadow duo in Twilight Witch is actually shimmery (I think the black side has bits of microglitter in it, actually). Also, if you're a black polish fan, Fantasy Makers black polishes seem to consistently receive rave reviews from people every year, so it might be worth it to pick up a bottle while they're available.
Here's an interesting display: Ardell has released six new Halloween lash styles, and they look so fun! It's hard to tell in the pic, but most of these kits contain both a set of lashes for your top lid and also one for your bottom lid (the one of the lower left corner, Cleopatra, looks so cool!). Sorry but I didn't catch the name of this collection or the price.
And finally, what Halloween would be complete without some glow-in-the-dark stuff? This display looks so much like last year's that I can't really tell if anything's changed. You've got the glow-in-the-dark glitter nail polishes, body creams, body mist, lipsticks and dual-ended jumbo pencils. Do you see anything new in this display that you didn't see last year? I think that the jumbo pencils might be new.
Various Glow-in-the-Dark products (retail: $1.99 each)
That's it for my first Halloween drugstore sighting post of 2010, but I am SURE there will be more displays to come in the weeks ahead. I hope that Milani comes out with some new limited edition polishes like last year's Black Magic Collection. I didn't spot that collection at my local CVS until the beginning of September last year, so we still have some time.
In the meantime, are you excited to purchase anything in this post? Or it is too early for you to be thinking about Halloween? I'd love to hear from you!

I saw these Fantasy Makers displays at ShopKo today. Nothing really interested me, although I think it's just too early- once it gets sooner to Halloween I'll probably look them over again.
ReplyDeleteNext to the displays I saw the Wet 'n' Wild Insomnia collection finally! After your post about it I was on the hunt. ;)
I have a set of 24 of the 2 in 1 nail art polishes. but they are from nail starr, from ebay. I got them for like 8 bucks or something very cheap and I love them!! Tehy are very good opaque colors that stamp well with konad, and they have a tiny little pin stuck to the bottom in case a glitter gets stuck in the pen part, clever!
ReplyDeleteI dont think they are big 3 free, so I cant wait to check these out at rite aid, to see if they are the big 3 free!
Yay! I love Halloween :>
ReplyDeleteI'll probably wait for those Ardell lashes to go on clearance, then buy as many as I can find. Not that I need to add to my drawer of falsies.
ReplyDeleteWTF? It's NEVER too late to think of Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThe clearance bins are gonna be epic :D
I love Halloweeeeeeeeen. Haha, but I'm not really feeling any of these collections. Yet, seeing them makes me all happy nonetheless...can't wait for the fall!
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween and live it every day of the year, so the title of this post made me scream! (I even have a blog about Halloween!) I'm so heading out tomorrow to see if I can find any of these displays. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeletehalloween's not really big here but another thing that's bugging me is, that the supermarket here began to sell christmas cookies(ginger bread,...) in june- yep, half a year early. I wonder if someone buys it 'cause I don't even tough I love eating them, just not right now when it's still summer (they could've at least wait till september?)
ReplyDeleteOh man...U make me almost scream for this post...I haven't been to RiteAid for almost 2-3 yrs now since Walgreen is always my handy dandy drugstore that I love. I got to visit RA to look at these displays...All of them look so awesome. And how exciting is it for Halloween. I am not much for dressing up on Hallo., but it would be nice if I can dress my sister up. Thanks so much for exciting post. If you spot any display like this at Walgreen...Pls do a post for me.
ReplyDeleteWow! You guys are so lucky, Halloween isn't taken seriously over here :( I can spy some lovely false lashes!
ReplyDeleteHmm, nothing really excited me this year so far except for the lashes, which always go on deep clearance afterwards. I think most people are scared of them! I hope Wet n Wild puts out some new cool Halloween nailpolishes though! I've already ordered the China Glaze ones since I'm bad!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite times for makeup - I need to head over to my Meijer and see what they have! Thanks for posting...good stuff!
ReplyDeleteI saw those displays at my RiteAid yesterday, too! It is way too early for Halloween though! My store didn't have the glow in the dark stuff pumpkin polishes though, only some regular ones that weren't that appealing. :p
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, already bought a bunch of the Halloween np stuff at the Rite Aid near my work...
ReplyDeleteI bought one of the Fantasy Makers palettes last year, the one that looked like a butterfly on the face. Assuming they're the same formula, they are kind of a creme shadow, but the thing I remember most, there were a couple super glittery shades I was psyched to use, but upon swiping it, the top layer is glittery, but the product underneath had zero glitter. Disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI spotted the halloween displays at RA today. I've been excited since you've mentioned them, but hadn't been able to get out and look yet.
ReplyDeleteThe there were four Fantasy Maker palettes- the two you mentioned, and a Madam Butterfly one, with a few bright and a few dark colors, and one that was Devil themed, mostly red shadows. They were selling for $4.99. Tempting! But I didn't get b'c it's a little to early to be planning for halloween makeup still.
The glow in the dark stuff was all in two displays and retailing $1.99 a piece. I don't remember the name though. The nail art pen/polishes were $3.99 and there were only three left at my store.
Tempting to grab things before they run out, but I finally found the new display for Sinful Colors. --- Lights? The 'Hot and Sour' Red is gorgeous!
