OMG, have you seen these new Physicians Formula Gel Cream Eyeliners??

OK, ever since I started this blog, my love for good gel/cream liners has grown deeper and deeper. I wasn't really into them pre-blog, but I expanded my horizons over the past year and now I freaking LOVE them. For oily-skinned girls like me, gel and cream liners can really go the distance if you apply them correctly, and one pot can last FOREVER, making them an excellent investment.

So you can imagine my excitement when I saw this display at CVS today:

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Gel Cream Liners

First it was those new, intense Shimmer Strips eyeshadows, then it was the awesome powder foundation and the tri-colored mineral powders. Now, Physicians Formula, you have really sent me over the edge.

For $10.99 (ouch, I know that's steep) you get THREE pots of "Gel Cream Liner" and each trio is for a different eye color (of course most of us will probably ignore that and just pick the colors we want, but whatever).

Here's a closer look:

I'm freaking FASCINATED by these things! First of all, you get three shades, and from what I could tell, the pots look roughly about the same size as a Coastal Scents gel liner, which retails for around $5.95 (if I remember correctly--I'll have to double-check that). Anyway, so you get THREE, and the colors look GORGEOUS, people!

There are four options: One trio for brown eyes, one for green, one for blue and one for hazel. The pots in each trio stack together (cute!) and from what I could tell, the only common color that all four of them share is a basic black. I think they all also contain a brown shade, but I don't think it's the same brown in every trio. The other, more colorful shade, ranges from a gorgeous deep midnight blue (in the trio for blue eyes), a pretty matte lavender (in the hazel eyes trio), and stunning kelly green (in the green eyes trio) and deep, smoky plum (in the brown eyes trio). So basically you get one GORGEOUS shade in each trio, and then a black and brown. Oh and you also get a "Pro-Eyeliner Brush". [edit: I take that back--the trio for green eyes does NOT contain a brown. It contains a kelly green, a deep purple and a black.]

So...I'm going to return some of the clearance stuff I bought the other day that's not working out for me, and when I do, rest assured I'm picking one of these bad boys up to review. The only question is: Which one should I get?? If you have an opinion, please share it in the comments! :)

  6. YAY! That is so exciting. I love Physicians Formula products, and three little gel eyeliners for only $10.99 would be very exciting.

  7. Ashley: Glad I'm not the only one squealing over here! LOL! :)

Bargainista: Oh they'll be there waiting for you when you're ready! lol. xo

Shela: I'm not bad, I'm GOOD! lol. PS: You neeeed these. ha! xo

Hana: I literally just asked the CVS clerk tonight, and she said that if they're unopened you're good (I'm returning one of my PF blushes since I used the other one and it SUCKED, and also that gloss that's too light!). I'll let you know how it goes! :)

rayqueenbee: LOLOLOLOL!!!! OMG, if they're looking at you crazy, imagine how my drugstore employees look at ME! But who cares, right? We're not hurting anybody and we're having fun!! :) xo

Katherine: So glad you're as excited as I am about these! And yes, at first I had sticker shock, but when you do the math, it becomes VERY economical! :)

  9. Oooh now those look awesome! I'm impressed with PF lately!

  10. personally i am now lemming the one for green eyes b/c i want a true green liner and need a replacement purple one! these are so CUTE! and if they're any good, then they're cheaper (and easier to use up) than the HiP ones i love (and never finish).

  11. Well, it is all your fault. I never even gave a thought to the cream/gel eyeliners until I started reading your blog. Ok, that applies to quite a few new items in the arsenal.

I've been looking at the CS liners for a good while now, so this is a real boon. That whole "enhance your eye color" thing really works. I have this nondescript grayish/greenish/blueish/changing eye color, but using greens and purples (my favorite colors...and mardi gras is right here!) makes my eyes pop a gorgeous green. This trio of pots for green eyes ought to be perfect!

I'm going to wait for the purchase, though, for your review of how well they wear and for Walgreen's to run PF @40% off.

Off today to buy the Maybelline concealer while it's on sale!

  12. So are they shimmery or what? The name freaks me out.

  13. Love gel liners! Can't live without them, really

Ooh, get the green one! 3 pots for that price seems like a pretty good deal actually. Looking forward to know how it performs!

  14. i'd get the green eyes one myself :)

and i am kicking myself for not picking up their new mineral foundation. a couple of weeks ago rite aid had 33% off ALL cosmetics, plus the $5 off coupon would have brought it down to just $5 for the foundation. booooo me.

  15. If I recall correctly, you and purple don't have terrific 'relations' so I vote for the green eyes one! :-}

  16. I think I saw a purple ish one that I would like ...but my cvs doesn't allow you to return stuff that was on clearance. I don't see what it matters , especially if it's unopened! I think I need to move to CA where I can return stuff and visit Targets all the time :D

  17. Oh my gosh- I'm so excited!! These colors look GORGEOUS. I just tried Maybelline's new gel eyeliner, my first try at it, and I'm really liking it! Thanks for the review and staying on top of new things!! =)

  18. Tamara: I'm sorry you don't have access to these. :(

JT: I totally agree. I'm very impressed and if these are as good as their new powder foundation, I might need to buy 'em all! lol.

beautifulmonday: I'm lemming that one right alongside you! lol. And yeah, the potential to use at least one of these pots up is far greater than using up a HiP! lol.

Denise: Ha ha ha!! Yeah, sorry about that. It happens. :-) Oh and I bet greens and purples look stunning against your eye color! And just a reminder: Walgreens is no longer working with Physicians Formula, so they will NOT be getting these new products (or any new products for that matter). Gotta hit up CVS or Rite Aid for these babies. And please let me know what you think of that concealer! :)

Meg: From what I can remember, the deep navy and kelly green were shimmers. Some are mattes (the black is matte) but there is definitely at least one shimmer in each trio.

Connie: I am totally leaning toward the green one, so your vote just sent me over the edge. It WILL be mine! lol. xo

sel: Oh man, don't you just hate it when you miss a bargain like that? Things like that keep me up at night, I tell you! lol. Sorry. :(

femputer: LOL! Your memory is AMAZING! And yes, purple and I don't see eye-to-eye most of the time, so the green trio it is! xo

Tiff: LOL!! Yeah, well we'll see if that employeee was right--she SAID I could return if unopened, but it might be a totally different story when I go back and try to do it. I'll keep you posted. But yes, if you lived here you might even get sick of Target (is that possible)? lol!

BeautyMaven: If you think they're gorgeous in those blurry pics, just wait till you seem them in person. The navy blue and kelly green are shimmery and stunning in the pot! I cannot WAIT to see how they look on. And congrats on trying the Maybelline liner! YAY!!! Oh, that totally reminds me--I noticed that if you don't wipe your brush clean after each use, any remaining product will harden and get all gunky (at least for me it did). Have you experienced this too? I just make sure I wipe my brush clean immediately after using this liner and it seems to be fine now. So glad it's working for you!! :)

  20. They didn't have the gel liners at my local CVS but they had the same colors in mascara. They were dual-ended mascaras with black on one side and a color on the other. They showed pictures of the effect if you just black, just color, or layered the black and the color.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Steph: OK, now you're blowing my mind!! They have new colored MASCARAS too??? What the heck is PF trying to do to us?? LOL!! Thanks so much for the heads-up. Can't wait to see these in person!

  22. i love those! they seem to be rocking the lego factor because they have a new bamboo line where you can snap in either pressed poweder or bronzer in a compact plus a trio of snap together concealers. even thought i have i will probably get the either the hazel or brown eyes trio because when am i EVER going to where the green. have you seen loreal studio secrets. its like elfs studio line. also my walmart had a clearance for the max factor items. check it out. walmart and online is the only place for me to get makeup. and can you do a favor for me. i am interested in a physicians formula product called shimmer strips 3 in 1 eyeshadow, eyeliner, and hightlighter. i hardly ever buy products unless it is a good value, the majority of the reviews are good, or if i have a coupon. you don't have to but it would be helpful because so far the internet is totally void of a review for this product. and i would love to have that second givaway for valentine's day but im no old enough. boo!

  23. I actually bought these the other day in the green and they are pretty good and last in the waterline, Urban decay 24/7 doesn't last in my waterline. I'm going to get all the colors because they are pretty unusual and break down to just over $3 a piece. It seems to have green glitter in the black but haven't used it yet.

  24. I want to run to CVS and grab one right away after reading your blog. The blue violet and kelly green for green eyes are just stunning in the picture, the deep navy blue too. I am still considering which one to get. I wish PS has each color separately though *sigh*

  25. Oh my gosh, those look AMAZING! I would get the one for blue eyes; I love a good blue eyeliner! I really hope these are long lasting; I need something good for tightlining.

Btw, I love your blog! You and I seem interested in very similar products, and I love reading your reviews before I buy anything! It's great to have a witty drugstore beauty blog for us cheap and/or broke girls. :)
