Before I get into this review, I want to tell you that I received some awesome information this week from Suave about a great opportunity to try a full-size Suave styling product FOR FREE:
From Suave:
We are partnering with Emmy Rossum, star of Showtime’s “Shameless,” to launch “The Suave Challenge” to see if women across the country can tell the difference between Suave Professionals products and top salon brands.
In honor of the challenge, Emmy and Suave Professionals are so confident that the new line works as well as those sold in high-end salons that they are inviting women nationwide to put it to the test themselves by giving away a FREE full-size styling product to 200,000 visitors to Suave Beauty’s Facebook page on Thurs, March 24.
Additionally, consumers can visit CanYouTell.com to compare NEW Suave Professionals® with top salon brands by putting them to the ultimate test. Suave is so sure that you will not be able to tell, that they are giving prizes to anyone who can prove them wrong.
I'm not sure which product you'll receive, or if you have a choice, but if you've seen my reviews for the new Suave Captivating Curls Whipped Cream Mousse and the new Suave Dry Shampoo, you know that these new styling products are AWESOME, so I would definitely log on to Suave's Facebook page ASAP tomorrow morning to take advantage of this opportunity! You can also click here for the full list of new 2011 haircare products from Suave.

Ingredients:
SD Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Hydrofluorocarbon 152a, Acrylates/Hydroxyesters Acrylates Copolymer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Fragrance (Parfum), PEG/PPG-20/15 Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane
Long story short: I'm LOVING this new hairspray. Why? For starters, I love that it doesn't contain water, which means it's not one of those hairsprays that curly-haired girls need to fear (you know, the kind that leave your hair so damp you risk getting frizzies?). The mist is truly "ultra fine" and because this is a lightweight hold hairspray, I experience NO crunchies, NO flakes and NO glue-like feeling when I use this on my hair.
I have naturally wavy, fine hair (but lots of it) and in this crazy weather we're having in Southern California right now, my hair has been a big ol' frizz ball. What I love about this hairspray is that it gives my hair a touch of texture where I need it, and a touch of control as well. But I don't look like I'm wearing hairspray, and I can easily brush my hair, or run my fingers through it, after I've used it.
I wouldn't recommend this hairspray for those who need a lot of control or hold, since it's not designed for that (note: Suave also has Extra Hold and Super Hold versions of this hairspray). But if you need a tiny bit of control or texture to your hair and you don't want anyone to know you're wearing hairspray, this might be right up your alley. Oh, and the fragrance is fresh and fruity--I like it a lot!
FINAL VERDICT: If you're looking for a truly lightweight hairspray that dries instantaneously, the new Suave Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray is definitely worth considering. It smells great, it's got an ultra-fine mist, it leaves my hair touchable and gives it the tiny bit of extra texture and hold that I crave when my hair's acting up. I love this stuff, and it's hard for me to believe it's just $2.99 a bottle.
Have you tried any of the new 2011 Suave styling products yet? Does this hairspray sound like something that might work for your haircare needs? Are you planning to log onto Facebook tomorrow to grab your free product?

I've tried this, the dry shampoo, and the heat protectant and I am loving it ALL. They have really stepped up with this new line. I am a big fan!!!
ReplyDeleteI usually avoid hair sprays because I associate them with my Grandma and her giant beehive hair helmet. My Grandma went to the "beauty shop" once every week to get her hair done. Always in the same style. A huge beehive bouffant monstrosity that she was very proud of. And every morning in the days following her hair appointment her bouffant would shrink more and more. She solved this by putting giant toxic clouds of hairspray into her hair so by the end of the week, it didn't resemble hair but a giant shellacked poodle. I have a phobia of hairspray after burning my lungs on it visiting her every school break. Aww, I miss my Grandma. She was character, but one hell of a woman!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sorry for the pointless anecdote. I was just going to say if I would try hairspray, this would probably be the one. Thanks G!
Thank you for the review, it was very helpful. As well as letting use know about the giveaway tomorrow. I am sure to be up bright and early for this. I know everyone else will be too. I did the challenge and won a free professional styling tool. That was very exciting! From the picture it looked like a blow dryer but I won't know til I receive it.
ReplyDeleteI bought this and the strong hold one. I love the soft, even mist from both. I enjoy these greatly and tonight I bought a new can from Target and used my coupon from my Beauty Bag, so I only spent $2.00!
ReplyDeleteohh! i want to try this! and i didn't know suave had dry shampoo, too, now! i must try that, too!

ReplyDeleteThe Suave dry shampoo is great! I can go almost four days between washings. :)
ReplyDeleteI check your blog everyday, and everyday I'm impressed. I don't know how you always get the inside track on these things! But please don't ever stop. I love Suave because they market themselves as affordable and luxurious. And when we're on a budget, it's nice to know Suave cares. I haven't tried this spray, but for $2.99 I'll definitely give it a try.
ReplyDeletei bought this last weeek but stil have not used it! is it comparable/dupe to Elnett?
ReplyDelete@Nera: OMG i agree on the Dry Shampoo. Nothing 'high end' i have tried works like this one....great on sensitive scalp!!
I went back and read your review on the Whipped Cream mousse, and as a curly girl who uses mousse on her hair, it looks like I need to buy it! Also, I went to CanYouTell.com and answered enough questions right to qualify for a free styling tool - not bad! Looking forward to see what the Facebook giveaway is.
ReplyDeleteI answered the questions, and, while I had two left, I wasn't really interested in a styling tool at all (I don't blowdry my hair. Ever. And I already have a straightener, which rarely gets used. My already beautifully curly hair doesn't need a curling iron). So I chose the "two free items", and after filling everything out, was informed that I would receive my coupons for free items in the mail. This is more exciting to me than them sending free products, partly because I might get to choose my products, and partly because an opportunity to use the coupons and get Extra Bucks or Register Rewards might happen.
ReplyDeleteI am a Suave girl through and through!!! I just don't see the reason to spend $$$ on anything else! The only thing I dont like is their body washes! I feel they dont lather that well! I would love to see them come out with a line of hair color!! How cool would that be?
ReplyDeleteI bought the stong hold in this and freakin' adore it! I had been using Kenra for years, and at ~$20 a pop, I had to find something else. Typically drug store sprays are too wet for me, but this one worked wonders, was dry, and held on for dear life! Even better, the price! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading your reviews, especially this one about the Suave Touchable Finish Hairspray! Also, thanks for letting us know about the giveaway they are holding, it never hurts to get something free:)
ReplyDeleteYeah, got in on this. Apparently, it is a coupon so you can choose what product (at first I thought they would send something, LOL). Not sure what I will choose. Probably the hairspray and see if it matches up to my HG Elnett.
ReplyDeleteI did the whole fb thing today and getting a coupon in the mail for two free products plus I did the giveaway for one free product as well! I'm so excited and can't wait till I try this line! Esp that finishing spray!!!
ReplyDeletethank you for posting the links to the giveaway and canyoutell site! (and the target bag!) you're the best. :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I've tried Suave numerous times since they've said "you can't tell the difference!" and, well, I can. I'm sure on a lot of people, it works just fine. But, I've got EXTREMELY thick, EXTREMELY curly, EXTREMELY dry/brittle hair, and anything short of "absurdly expensive" just doesn't seem to do the trick for me. I kinda don't even want to try the free sample, because I don't want to deal with correcting the problems I expect it to cause. =/
ReplyDeleteI understand how cynical I sound right now, and I've had a lot of luck with OTHER Suave products besides shampoo/conditioner, but this is just a product of 20+ years of frustration with unmanageable hair and just FINALLY in the last year or so getting it under control with the right product combination (which generally involves as few chemicals or synthetic products as possible).
Twirly McSwirly: Not sure if you read the details of this post, but the free samples are styling products. I want to make sure you saw that since you mentioned that the shampoos and conditioners were the products you said didn't work for you. At any rate, I'm sorry that the shampoos and conditioners weren't a love match for you!
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased the Captivating Curls Mousse and LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteI just went out to FB and got my coupon for the FREE product!! Thanks for the heads up!!!
I used the dry shampoo today and it smells so much better than some of the more expensive brands so I'll definitely be using this brand. Also, I played the "can you tell" game on the suave website a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd get some free products, but ended up getting a blow dryer last week! lol, don't really need a new one, but it's a nice freebie anyway!
