First up, Steal this Teal:
Hedy's oke.doke Steal this Teal
(retail: $1.99 at Rite Aid)
(Excuse the weird little air bubble on the label--I just noticed that when I saw these pics).
I got these when Rite Aid was having a BOGO1/2OFF on all their nail polishes, so I ended up paying $3 for two of them. At first I thought, "Yikes, even $3 was a bit much for these" but then my mind quickly changed.
In certain lights, Steal this Teal looks more like a traditional teal, but in other lights it reminds me of Sally Hansen Gray by Gray--sort of a deep periwinkle-dolphin-gray-blue, but of course with a lovely, subtle gold shimmer. I love it much more than I thought I would, and I honestly can say I don't have a similar color in my stash.
These polishes went on a bit thick and gloppy for me, and they left some major brush stokes on the first coat. BUT, everything kind of leveled out after the second coat dried, and in all of these photos I'm showing you what two coats look like with a layer of Seche Vite on top.
I am seriously impressed with the opacity of these babies, and what I'm even more impressed by is their staying power on my nails.
These swatches of Camo Loco were taken on DAY FOUR of my mani:
Hedy's oke.doke in Camo Loco
(retail: $1.99 at Rite Aid)
Pretty great for day four, eh? And I did some major dishwashing during those days as well. AND, I didn't use a base coat! Just two layers of Camo Loco and one layer of Seche Vite!
For a new, cheapie drugstore polish line, I'm pretty happy with oke.doke so far! Have you tried any of their polishes? What do you think of them?
Wow there is no tip wear whatsoever! I will have to keep an eye out for this brand.
ReplyDeleteLindsay: I know, right? And that is my left hand (my dominant hand)! I seriously can't believe. I keep looking for chips and it's just not happening. And without a base coat too--it's really impressive. :)
ReplyDeleteDang, both colors are gorgeous but especially loving the GREEN! :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, though, no Rite Aid up here in the frozen land... Not within a 4 (or more) state radius in any direction, actually (except North cuz that's pure Canada and I'm not sure if Rite Aid is in Canada or not)! *sob*
Does this make up for us having Kmart up here?? *quiet weeping continues* ;-D
Yay nail post! Your nails are looking great! The teal looks gorgeous. Of course I'm drawn to it... I only have 5 million similar colors. But no exact dupes. Which means I would have to get it - if I had a Rite Aid near me! I hate you Rite Aid!
ReplyDeleteI'm a leftie as well! :) For four days, I'd say that polish did a fantastic job! My hands are constantly in water and I'm very much looking forward to trying these polishes for myself!
ReplyDeleteRuthie: Gah! I'm so sorry you don't have RAs in your area, but yeah, you're lucky you have Kmart! :)
ReplyDeleteJessi: Thank you so much, sweetie! And again, sorry no RA near you. Boo!
NeutraKris: Yay for lefties! And I would love to know if this polish performs as well for you as it does for me! :)
I want that green. I left behind a full display of these at my Rite Aid the other day too, they look like kiddie play polish at first glance. Now I gotta go back and pick a few colors up, especially the green! I just love foils, they are so blingy. I bet you couldn't stop looking at your hands.
ReplyDeleteOh la la that Camo Loco is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI bought Camo Loco (which I now can't wait to try), Hot Tomato, and Purple Nurple the other day. My only disappointment was that the purple was a lot darker than I expected; I was hoping for a cheapie dupe stand-in for my much-coveted Zoya Julieanne, which I can't order for a while due to discretionary budget restraints. The teal IS surprisingly complex and pretty, I only passed it over because i have several others.
ReplyDeleteI saw these in RA the other and passed them by as kiddie polish! I am def going to rethink these. Hoping for a RA run today to finish up some purchases at 75% so I will check these and the other colors out! I love both of the colors you posted G.!
