The Lipstick League - Week of 1.30.17

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

Do you use micellar water? If so, when and how often do you use it?

G's answer: Oh yes, I love micellar waters (as you probably know from my past reviews). I like to use them pretty frequently in a variety of ways. If I'm wearing a lot of makeup on a particular day, I use micellar water as a pre-cleanser to remove my makeup before I do a traditional cleansing at the sink. Or if I'm lazy, super tired, or if it's really cold on a particular night and I don't want to stand at the sink and wash my face, I will use micellar water to remove my makeup and cleanse my face (and skip the sink altogether). I also like to use micellar water to correct eye makeup mistakes. If I get some mascara on my upper lid during application, I dip a clean Q-tip into my bottle of micellar water and use that to get rid of mistakes (it works so well for that).

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

fanserviced-b - After spending $6,000 on beauty in 2016, I resolved to clean up my act and try to get more joy out of purchases; here’s how I did in January.

My Beauty Bunny - A liquid lipstick that isn't super drying? YES PLEASE! I'm swatching and reviewing the entire new collection of Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipsticks!

Nouveau Cheap - My new favorite perfume isn’t new at all, but it’s under $15, absolutely sublime, and I owe it all to a fellow Lipstick Leaguer!

Phyrra - I've finally found my perfect foundation for dry skin! See my in-depth review and wear test of Idun Minerals Norrsken Liquid Foundation.

Prime Beauty - is ooohing and ahhing over the new Smashbox Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palette in Golden Hour. These sunset hues will have you drooling!

we heart this - has the five things you should know about microblading (plus, before and after pics!)

Beautygeeks - has stopped to smell bright, youthful rose fragrances for Valentine’s Day. Bonus: a related martini recipe.

Blushing Noir - It’s a long road, finding that perfect, drugstore foundation when you REQUIRE full coverage but have oily skin. In this post I’ve shared 4 of my favorites plus a brand new makeup sponge that’s only $8 and is giving the beautyblender a run for it’s money!

EauMG - I sooo don’t get the point of Valentine’s Day but I will embrace any day that gives me an excuse to smell like roses and burn fancy candles. If you want an excuse to spoil yourself, check out my Valentine’s Day Gift Guide.

(Wondering what the Lipstick League is? Find out here.)

fanserviced-b is Currently Craving: I’m really curious about the Youth To The People Cleanser + Cream Youth Duo Mini set; the ingredients look great and early reviews suggest these products are winners.

  1. Am I the only one whose heart skips a beat everytime I get G's text. On one hand I'm excited, on the other a part of me is thinking... but I just bought... LOL. I literally had to add you as a line in my expenses on my budget :)

    1. Omg! Dani, you're cracking me up over here!

Hopefully you're happy when you calculate the savings part in those expenses! 😉❤

  2. What's your favorite Miceller water? I've been using Garnier and it works okay, it just doesn't take off ALL of my mascara. I just ran out so I purchased the Loreal version and it's kinda the same (which isn't surprising since they have the same parent company). I've been wanting to try the Bioderma version, just haven't had a chance.

    1. Hey Lindsey! My fave is the Garnier with the blue cap. Review here:

I haven't tried the new Garnier formula with the green cap yet (mattifying formula) but I can't wait to give it a shot. For what it's worth, the blue cap formula removes all of my mascara--not sure if you are using that one or the pink cap formula? You definitely have to give it a good shake though first, to mix the two levels.

  3. I like micellar waters. I still prefer oil-based cleansers, but I like micellar waters mostly to get rid of any extra eye makeup. Occasionally I use them to remove all makeup, but not so often.

    1. I agree--they're great for removing makeup residue. I totally forgot to mention that in my post! I love that you don't need to go back to the sink to rinse after. ;)

  4. I tried one a couple of times. I believe Garnier. I used it 2 or 3 times, and disliked it so much, I threw the whole bottle away.

  5. I love them for lazy nights when I don't want to use a cleanser. I will also use them on days when I only wear mascara (which is most of the time).
