NEW Garnier Whole Blends Haircare Collection (Shampoos, Conditioners, and Styling Products)

UPDATE: For my full review of the Garnier Whole Blends Green Apple & Green Tea Refreshing Shampoo and Conditioner, please click HERE.

I admit that, aside from some recent TRESemme products that I've shown you lately, I haven't been terribly excited about new drugstore haircare releases these days. I don't know if I'm just in a rut or sticking to old favorites, but it seems to take a LOT to get me excited about new drugstore haircare right now. But I'm pretty excited about this one since this is a completely new line for Garnier (not Fructis) with a new style packaging and new formulations. Nice to see something that's not in bright neon green packaging from Garnier for a change, right?

Last week I read an article on WWD.com about this new Garnier line coming to the US (it's already available in Canada). Here's a snippet:
L’OrĂ©al is planning to capitalize on a rising interest in natural and organic hair care by bringing a new hair-care brand to the U.S., chief executive officer Jean-Paul Agon said at the Consumer Analyst Group of New York conference Friday. “Natural, organic hair care — this is something that apparently everywhere is growing.…We’re going to launch in the next few weeks, in America, our new brand under Garnier, which is right — bang — on this new trend,” Agon said. ...According to one source, the name of the brand is Whole Blends.
And then today, I get not one, but TWO reader sightings of the new Garnier Whole Blends line which is now popping up at Walgreens (I'll show you some pics of the in-store display at the end of this post).

So let's take a look:

There are six different formulas in the new Garnier Whole Blends line, and each formula has its own shampoo, conditioner, and styling products.

Click a link below for more info, pics, and full ingredient lists:

Garnier Whole Blends Refreshing Green Apple & Green Tea Hair Care System

I'm loving everything about this line so far--from the different scent notes to the packaging to the variety of products. I especially love the packaging--the bottle shape of the shampoos and conditioners really reminds me of old-school shampoos from the 70s and early 80s.

SIGHTINGS:

Reader @rockgirlmaxim84 on Instagram spotted some of the products in this collection at her local Walgreens this week and kindly shared THIS PIC. As you can see in her pic, the price at Walgreens is $3.99 per product.

And longtime reader Jennifer also spotted some of the products in this collection at her local Walgreens this week, and kindly shared these pics.

The great thing about these products popping up at Walgreens right now is that for the entire month of March, ALL haircare is B2G1FREE at Walgreens (all brands and all products, and you can mix and match). So if you see anything from this line that you're interested in, you can get three products for $7.98 ($2.66 per item, down from $3.99 per item).

Have you spotted these products out "in the wild" yet? Thoughts? I'd love to hear from any of you Canadian readers who may already have some experience with this new line!

Thanks again, Jennifer and @rockgirlmaxim84, for the great sightings!

  1. Saw these at my Walgreens in Berkeley. They only had the Honey and Coconut Water variations (and only the shampoo/conditioner for the Coconut Water scent), but I did smell the Coconut Water, and it was amazing!

  2. Wow. The packaging looks really dated. I think I'm gonna hold off until reviews start rolling in because I'm not really a drugstore shampoo kinda gal.

    1. Lol like I said in my post, that's actually what I LOVE about these! I love that vintage 70s retro vibe, but we can agree to disagree. ;)

  3. We have these in the UK already as well, I really like the Honey treasures line (very similar to a loreal line with Royal jelly I loved). I was a bit meh about some of the other ones I tried, but I do have tricky hair! There's an olive line that I believe is new so you might get that at some point too đŸ˜€ Xx

    1. Aaah, well I'm glad that at least one formula worked for you! My hair is tricky as well, so I'm a bit overwhelmed in terms of which one to try first! :) And I'm loving the idea of an olive oil one. Thank you for that tip--hope we get it too!

  5. Do we know if they are silicone free as well? I use conditioners that are silicone free and i really hope these are because they look great!

    1. You can view the full ingredient lists for all the products by clicking the links in my blog post above. The products I checked were NOT silicone free, but I didn't check all of them. :)

    2. The Green Apple & Green Tea shampoo appears to be free of silicones, but everything else has a silicone, and high up in the ingredients list. (Shame, too- it's being marketed as natural, so one would think it would be 'cone free.)

  6. I'm on CrowdTap, and I'm receiving some packets of this shampoo/conditioner to try out. :) I'm pretty excited about the Coconut Water and Vanilla Milk one the most. (I Love vanilla anything.. :))

  7. I can't wait to try these! I use Fructis and enjoy it but I'm kind of bored with it. This linexpensive reminds me of OGX but cheaper.

    1. Yeah, it does have a bit of an OGX vibe, right? And you know, I have yet to find a Fructis product that has really worked for me, so I'm excited to see an entirely different line from Garnier--I'm really hoping some of these will work for me!

    2. I am not sure if this important to you, but I looked at the ingredients and these are not sulfate-free, while OGX is.

  8. I saw the honey treasure line at Walgreens (Dallas) 2 weeks ago. Was waiting for someone else to review them before I took the plunge :).

  9. I just saw these at my local Walmart on Sunday. Color me intrigued! I miss my old school Herbal Essence packaging from the 70's. (Yes I'm kinda old...... ;0)

  10. I bought the smoothing formula. Not only is the scent amazing it left my hair so silky soft! I was very impressed! I am so happy I tried these. Going back to stock up on more!

  11. I have tried the ultimate blends from garnier uk. This looks the same kind of.they had all these formulations plus an argan oil one and that argan oil line was really good.which is what I'm using right now. :) :) I'm sure these would be just as amazing.

  12. I have not seen these, but I did buy the new loreal cleansing conditioners( 5.99 at target, I had a 3.00 coupon). I like it a lot. So much better than Wen.

  13. I've seen these in Walgreens. I'm curious. Makes me want to wash my hair more often so I can make room to buy some of these.

    1. You make me laugh. I could say the same thing. I live in Canada and at our main dollar store (Dollarama) I biught enough shampoo and conditioner to last 5 years when they had John Freida for $2 a bottle.

    2. Years ago when I lived in Ontario, I bought about 50 Sharfenberger choc. bars at dollarama. I was still using them for baking long after they expired and they were still good. Thats probably the best deal I ever got at Dollarama.

  14. Have seen these in numerous stores in Canada. Nothing about them has intrigued me enough to purchase.

  15. You know G, this post is like holding up a fluorescent yellow squeakie ball in front of a lab and then throwing it! Seriously, you better not be maniacally laughing ;-) I NEED ALL OF THEM NOW! LOL Someone got a bit carried away with DIY caramel highlights during the last blizzard...

  16. I saw these at Walgreen's too and was curious about why there was no formula for volume. It's a nice inexpensive price, but I will wait and see if a volumizer comes down the pike.

    1. Against my better judgement I grabbed Apple green tea. I do need volumizing formula. When will I learn?

  17. The packaging of the red one so strongly reminds me of Folger's coffee and the yellow ones look like mustard to me! LOL!

  18. Hmmm, definitely going to have to hit my local Walgreens and see if they're available yet here in NY. Garner has always been one of my go to drugstore brands. The packaging reminds me of OGX.

  19. I have the honey repair mask and it smells SO FREAKING GOOD.

  20. I saw and sniffed three of the sets of shampoos and conditioners this morning at my Duane Reade - the coconut oil, coconut water, and honey -- all smell amazing! Can't wait to try them!

  21. I am moroccan and have been using this product for years before moving to the Us. its actual name is "Ultra Doux" as its original french name; if you looked it up you will find it. its an amazing shampoo and conditioner. I was so happy to finally find in available in US drug stores. Also, I wish they add they other kinds of it, like the apricot one, the children version of it it is quite superb for maintain beautiful hair.

  22. I have really super dried, damaged hair from flat ironing. I have been trying to repair my hair for the past 6 months so I don't have to continue the flat iron cycle. I tried the Nourishing Avocado Oil & Shea Butter formula and the first use I could definately tell a difference! My hair was still a bit frizzy but better. The second use my hair felt much softer not all snaggly and crunchy like before the first use. I am almost on my way to breaking the flat iron cycle! Love the smell, love that the conditioner is nice and thick. Happy Happy Happy with this! Also love the packaging!

  23. There's nothing about these that is natural - LOL - it's shampoo and conditioner by a big-box company and that is just marketing verbiage. But I can say that the green apple & green tea smells beautiful and has a nice weight for color-treated fine hair. I actually tried the new trendy trick of conditioning first, then shampooing. I used the leave-in treatment very lightly after towel-drying; my hair is only air drying now but actually is hanging quite nicely and doesn't feel gummy or look like it's still dirty.

  24. How much fragrance is in them exactly? I'm very much allergic to fragrance, so I have to use only all natural shampoos and conditioners. I read on the back that there was fragrance in them after buying it, thinking that there was none in there other than natural due to the "Natural Blend" on the front. I'm always eager to hear about there being new hair supplies that's for sensitive skin that actually has some kind of smell.

  25. I have naturally curly hair - which likes to 'bozo' out every now and then. I color every 6-8 weeks. I have been using professional products for years (well known brands that claim everything under the sun) I recently when to a different line, soy based, shampoo/conditioner ($35) and a leave in conditioner ($22 for 6.7) of what I like to call 'butter' it intially feels great going on but has dulled my hair. I ran out a few of months ago and decided I wasn't going back to it. I bought Garnier Frutis for color treated hair. I used it for about a month before going to get a haircut. My hair stylist stated 'your hair looks and feels amazing, better than it ever has. Healthy, shiny and soft' I had to tell her I stopped using the pro line of products and she was surprised. Well...to get to my review of this Whole Blends line. I was looking for a leave in conditioner to replace the other I ran out of as it has recently become very humid here this summer (not normal) I stopped to see what they had in the Garnier product line. I found the Coconut Oil/Cocoa Butter. The scent is amazing! It is a little stronger than I expected but really, if you like the scent of tropical islands, you will love it, if not...don't buy it. I love it. My hair is soft, shiny and very few fly-a-ways. I blow dry my hair straight and then use both a flat iron and a curling iron and all the curls held, my hair is not heavy or greasy. I will probably use it 2-3 times a week as I did the other brand.

I don't worry about sulfates because even the top pro lines of hair products have it in them. Has been used for years.

These are the ingredients in my pro line and the whole brands CO/CB line I just bought.

  26. I really like this brand my hair feels so good and soft after using it and I got the coconut water 2-n-1 and it lathers so easy and for once I don't need to use conditioner after like most 2-n-1 shampoos. I wish all of their shampoos where 2-n-1.
