It's been a long time since I was in college, so I apologize if this is super old news to you college students out there, but I thought it was worth mentioning in case you DON'T know about this yet.
Amazon Student is a program where college students basically get Amazon Prime for 50% off. In other words, you get all of the perks of Amazon Prime (free 2-day shipping, free movies, TV shows and music, etc.) for $49 a year instead of $99 a year. Plus, you get your first 6 months FREE and you can cancel at any time. You will be billed $49 at the end of your 6-month period and will continue to be billed $49 per year unless you cancel or are no longer enrolled in college.
NOTE: The free music, movies and tv are only available AFTER the 6-month free trial period (thanks to reader Anon for that tip!).
Here's the link, in case you're interested:
Join Amazon Student for College Students
When you sign up, you'll be asked for your .edu email address for verification (if you don't have one, they will give you alternate ways to prove you're a current student).
If you're a college student, do you already have Amazon Student? I would have been so incredibly happy to have had this when I was in college--it almost (almost) makes me want to get a master's degree. Ha!
Do you have a college email address? If you do then you can still get the discount. I've been "in limbo" since 2011 and so I still get the discount even though I've not taken a class since 2011. Does Mr. G have a work email? He should also be able to use it to get the discount. They have never asked for anything other than a college email address which I can still log into. Idk if when you graduate if you get locked out since I am "in limbo". Lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid my college email is looooooong since expired. ;)
DeleteMy aunt works for cal state chancellor's office. She has a csu.edu address. Wonder if it would work for her.
DeleteHey G! You might want to include that unless the student decides to pay the $49, the 6 month trial does not include the instant video/music. It's pretty much limited to the free 2-day shipping (which is still great, haha).
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for that! I just updated my post. :)
DeleteThis only works if you're a college student in the US (sucks for me!). Also, beauty blenders are on sale at Amazon! $14 or so
ReplyDeleteSorry--yes, this is US only. :(
DeleteAnd thanks for the tip about the Beautyblenders. Not sure they're authentic and full-size (there's some negative reviews) but I so appreciate the tip!
I had the same concern after reading the negative reviews--so I contacted Amazon! Since the order is fulfilled by Amazon they guarantee its authenticity and if you do by chance receive a knock off beauty blender they will refund your money. Amazon has some of the best customer service.
DeleteI loved amazon prime! But I recently quit because..well..I need to save some money and not shop online so much LOL. Here at Purdue we actually have Amazon locations where you can pick up packages and they offer one-day campus shipping. If we want to return our textbooks from amazon, we just drop it off at one of the locations which makes it super easy.
ReplyDeleteI work for a university, and was able to do it with my work email. I just finished the trial and they charged me the 49 but it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteA college kid who used to work for me let me use his email address (he had 2 different .edu's, so he wasn't out anything!) to set it up initially, then I changed everything over to my regular email address and have been using Student Prime for 4 years now! :D Best thing ever!
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling us about this! I'm a college student, but I'm not interested in Amazon Prime.
ReplyDeleteI work for a medical school and have a .edu email address. It has so many perks!
