Target Is About to Launch Its Very Own Line of Nail Polishes (Very Soon)

In case you haven't heard, on January 17th (this Sunday), Target will launch its very first house-brand line of nail polish on both the Target website, as well as in Target stores.

The new line, called Defy & INSPIRE, will include 38 shades, plus a top coat and base coat. The retail price per bottle will be $7.49 (0.5 oz.). That seems a bit steep to me when it comes to Target and nail polish, but I am guessing they will offer sales, coupons and Cartwheel deals as time goes by, since they tend to do that with other Target house brands like Up & Up.

Perhaps the biggest draw for these nail polishes may be their "tongue in cheek pop culture-inspired names" such as Tribal Counsel (khaki nude) and Make It Work (teal). And for you The Bachelor fans, there are shades like Rose Ceremony (red), The Final Rose (another red), Girls Tell All (bubblegum pink), and Fantasy Suite (midnight blue).

  2. Nice Packaging! Little pricey, but I'm sure there will always be offers.

  3. I have so much love for Target, and nail polish is my weakness in cosmetics, but I don't think they've hit the mark here. The name is too long and trying to hard, and the everyday price point seems way too high. Why would I pay more than for Sally Hansen CSM? Hmmm. Unless they do something unique, I can't see being interested. (Unless I find them on deep clearance, of course!)

    1. Agree line for line. I will always root for Target but this doesn't sit well inside their branding. I'm less concerned about the price than I am the step away from simplicity-with-edge that they've honed so well over the years. This looks like just another lacquer line.

    2. Completely agree. They'd need to be really unique shades to pique my interest at the regular price.

    3. Agreed! When I saw the word "affordable" in the press release I thought, "What??" Target need only look to their own polish aisle to see that these will be amongst the most expensive polishes they sell!

But like I mentioned in mu post, I'm guessing there will be sales and coupons moving forward, and I'll certainly be waiting for those before I make a purchase!

  4. That does seem steep to me, too, especially considering a primary launch will probably be pretty standard colors most of us addicts won't need.

  5. Any info whether these are vegan or at least cruelty-free?

  6. Well, knowing me I will try one of these at some point. I need a not so fast drying clear polish for some nail art so I may peak at the top coat to see if it is fast dry or not. This is of course if the product shows up locally. Also, G I got my Target Beauty Boxes (I got both sets) yesterday, and there is so much fun stuff to try! I am so so impressed and excited to try it all!!

  8. Hate to say it, but unless they also have a stellar formula, I'm just not interested at that price when I can buy Sinful and Wetnwild. Even China Glaze is cheaper.
