Review: Rimmel Stay Blushed! Liquid Cheek Tint in Pop of Pink

So if you caught my previous post about how the new Rimmel cheek tints are now popping up in stores, then you know that I had no idea they were coming to the US (they've been in the UK for a while now). I ordered one from ASOS during their Cyber Monday sale, thinking they wouldn't be here in America for a while. WRONG! They have landed in the US, and we even have additional US-exclusive shades that aren't available in the UK! The UK has two shades (one of which I'm reviewing today) whereas the US has five.

I've been using this product non-stop since I got it from ASOS, and I wanted to get this review up ASAP now that they're here! So let's take a look...

Rimmel Stay Blushed! Liquid Cheek Tint in Pop of Pink
(retail: $2.99 each, 0.47 oz)

Some of you commented on my original post and expressed that you thought the price was fantastic. I agree, but I also want you to be aware that these tubes are small. They're about the same size as a tube of eyeshadow primer. Seriously. Look:

But as you're going to see, you only need a tiny bit per cheek, so this tube will still last you a good while (you'll definitely get your money's worth!).

The product residue you see around the opening was not there when I received this tube. I neglected to take photos before I started using this product--the tube in this photo has been used several times.

The little bit of product in the photo above is smaller than a pea (about 1/2 of a pea or less). It's about the same amount that you would use for one eye if this were eye primer. And here is the same amount blended onto my arm:

And here is roughly the same amount, on my cheek:

The above photo was taken after I applied some foundation and then applied this blush using just my fingers (the recommended method for application). I have not tried using a brush to apply this product (you would have to spread some on the back of your hand and then pick it up with a brush, which would be difficult to do). I think you could probably apply it with your fingers and then BLEND with a brush, but I haven't tried that since I've been quite happy with just using my fingers. As for the color, I don't get a "Pop of Pink" as the name of this shade implies--this is very much a coral shade on my skin.

Texture and consistency: I can't understand why Rimmel is calling this a liquid cheek tint. A tint? Yes. A liquid? No. It's actually more like a cross between a mousse and a cream. It is not runny (like a liquid) and it is ridiculously easy to apply. Even if you have never used a cream, mousse or liquid blush before, I'm going to bet that you'll have no issues at all with this one, and it might even spoil you when it comes to other blushes. It's that glorious. It spreads so easily and effortlessly onto the skin, and it blends effortlessly as well. You have plenty of time to blend before it sets, unless you're applying this over a long-wear foundation. I've found that when I apply it over my long-wear foundations, I don't have quite as much play-time to blend it, but it's still enough time so that I don't feel stressed to get it done while the clock's ticking.

Pigmentation: Again, this blush would be fantastic for beginners because, unless you apply a ridiculous amount, this is a very forgiving product. At first you might think, "Wow, I've applied too much!" but I've worn this so many times now and every time I start to blend it, it goes from intimidating to sheer and wearable after just a few seconds of blending. But if you like a bolder pop of color, don't worry--you can easily get that too by going in and applying a bit more. I can add more product without this ever becoming cakey, and it doesn't settle in my (gigantic) pores either.

Staying Power: I've worn this over a variety of different foundations, both under and over my setting powder (it applies easily over powder, by the way) and I have yet to get less than five hours of wear from this blush. If I'm wearing primer, foundation and the whole nine yards, I've had this blush last from noon to midnight without any problems at all. I even took a three hour nap one Saturday and woke up to find it perfectly in place.

Fragrance: This blush smells wonderful. It was nagging at me for a while because the fragrance was SO familiar, but I couldn't place it. But then it hit me. This blush smells almost exactly like the Thymes fragrance Naia, which happens to be one of my favorite fragrances ever. It's clean and fresh with a bit of citrus, a bit of floral, but not too much of either. This does not smell like Rimmel lipsticks--it's completely different and I cannot express to you how much I love it. You know how sometimes you fall in love with the fragrance of something and you wish you could have it in perfume form? Well you kind of can! If you love the scent of this blush too, just pick up Thymes Naia. I swear they're almost identical.

FINAL VERDICT: Can you tell how much I love this blush? Yeah, I really do. I love it so much that I will buy every single shade without hesitation (how could I not, at just $2.99 each??). If you're a beginner and you're intimidated by blushes, this would be an excellent, user-friendly product to start with. If you're a pro, I think you'll very much appreciate how effortless this one is to apply and blend using just your fingers. It wears so well--even on my super-oily skin--that I have zero complaints about staying power. I think the only issue you may have with this product is the fragrance--it's medium-strong, but I personally LOVE it. Other than that, this is a winner all the way around and I give it my highest recommendation. I'm one step away from declaring it a "Holy Grail" product (I just need to try the other shades first!).

Do you already own any Rimmel Stay Blushed! Liquid Cheek Tints? If so, I would absolutely love to know how they're working for you!

  3. This hasn't popped up at stores around me in Mass yet but I did see another Rimmel product that's in the same line at Kmart. I don't know if you've already touched upon it or reviewed it before but it was a Rimmel blush/highlighter in one. It came in similar squeeze tube packaging with different shades. At first I thought it was this product but turns out it was something different. I did a quick swatch and it was really shimmery and I did not like it. Hopefully I'll like these blushes a lot better!

    2. I just purchased this from Walmart for $5-and change, so I would try there. It's no $2.99.. I'm assuming you saw it at Shoppers? I don't know how they get away with charging so much!

  6. Funny, one of my favourite scents is Thymes Eucalyptus lotion! I often wondered about Naia, just might use my Birchbox points for a bottle, sounds up my ally! Btw- I know things vary region to region, store to store etc. But, over the years I've found Thymes lotions (and hand washes) at a few different TJ Maxx locations.

  16. I just got one of these today at Walmart... it is called peach something, I don't recall the exact name. I was hoping it would be like the Etude House Watercolor Blushes that I love so much, but you're right about the moussey consistency. I put it on my hand it looks quite nice, so I will be excited to try it on my face. I do want to pick up some of the other colors as well.

  17. For Canadians - I found this at Loblaws, which means it would also be in The Great Canadian Superstore. It was $6.99.
