The Lipstick League – week of 9.9.13

Lipstick League Question of the Week

Name your three favorite nail color shades for Fall 2013

G's answer: I can't possibly narrow it down to actual brands/shades but, in general, my favorite three colors for fall nails are rose-gold, oxblood and taupe (and dusty purple...sorry, I had to add that one!).

  1. I could never narrow it down to just three shades. I prefer more fall inspired colors, though, once it cools down. Smokier purples like Sinful Colors' Winterberry, olive and forest greens, wine reds, eggplant, oxblood, burnished golds, plus grays and taupes...

  2. Ooh, three fave fall nail shades -- copper-red, dark green, and chocolate brown.

  3. Either plum/violet/cranberry, metallics (especially gold or copper), or browns. Wearing Rimmel Hot Cocoa right now with Sally Hansen jewel overcoat in Ring-a-Ding (gold/rose gold/copper hex glitter)on the accent nail.

  4. I can't quite narrow it down to only 3, but my top 5 picks are: China Glaze Fast Track, Sinful Shine Mirror Mirror, OPI Russian Navy, OPI The World Is Not Enough, and Zoya Claudine. Honorable mention goes to OPI Fly, OPI Germanicure, and Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Lava.

  5. For fall? Hmmm...black, berries, and olives. Year-round I'll wear coral, purple, or bright blues & greens.

  6. Definitely agreeing with your polish picks! I can't wait to wear oxblood, and I also really like dusty pinks/mauvey colors, coppery/metallics, and I'm gonna try out navy polish for the first time. Also, you mentioned taupes and smokey purples; have you tried Smokey Taupe from the Covergirl Outlast polish line? Sort of a mix between the two and so pretty for the fall! I just got it the other day and am really exited to wear it. Basically I'm just super pumped for autumn and all the fall colors, haha :)

  7. I too love OPI The World Is Not Enough for Fall, along with Essie Wicked, Essie Dive Bar & Orly Rococo A-Go-Go. My new fave that I was super surprised by is Peace & Love & OPI. Depending on the light, it shifts from steel gray to green to purple -- STUNNING!! It has a dupe in Essie For The Twill Of It; I bought both & prefer the brush/formula of OPI.

  8. Definately a season I like to bust out the duochrome. I use my Hard Candy in Beetle pretty much only this time of year. I picked up Essie For The Twill of It a few wks ago, but haven't tried it yet, also 2 new ones from SH Insta-Dri...Chop Chop Copper and Style Steel. CCC is a perfect fall leaves colour! I also like oxblood, navy, berries, orange, amethyst, cobalt blues, dusty greiges with hints of lavender, I'm gonna stop here.
