The Lipstick League – week of 8.19.13

Lipstick League Question of the Week

Do you ever fall into a beauty rut? If so, what types of things help to pull you out of it?

G's answer: Absolutely. Sometimes I'll go weeks or even a month without wanting to put even a stitch of makeup on my face. What usually pulls me out of my rut is going through my own stash and looking at products that were "must-haves" that I literally stalked the drugstores to find. If I suddenly rediscover an old "must-have" eyeshadow in my stash and I remember why I fell in love with it in the first place, that usually pulls me right out of my rut. I'm a huge fan of "shopping your stash" when you're in a rut, because you never know what you might rediscover and fall in love with all over again.

  1. I do the same thing! Especially with my grueling work scedule, I don't make time for markup. But on my rare time off I give myself a "makeover" and realize how much makeup I have a decide that I need to use it. That lady for a month usually:( too bad you can't sell gently used makeup.

  2. Not really. Kind of the opposite actually, I have to do something different every single day. Especially on my eyes, seldom ever use the same product twice, or even twice in a week. Have at least three blushes going at any time, and I just keep all my lip products in their own storage box near my vanity so I can pick through all of them and find something different each day. I have six foundations right now and pick and choose among them depending on my mood. The only things I'm set on are brows (Revlon brow fantasy in brunette) and contour/highlight (Loreal true match powder in W6 and W1), and concealer (CG simply ageless in corrector and light/medium) those are HG and set in stone.

  3. I don't really get stuck in a rut - I like using the same products on a regular basis and I tend to enjoy sticking to my favourites above anything!

  4. Oh yeah definitely, it happened with my nails recently I cut them and hated the length and I wore the same mani for 4 days straight (not the norm for me) and went three days with naked nails...it happens with makeup too and I will usually dig deep in my collection and find something unique to pull me out of my rut.

  5. I always want to wear makeup, it's just a question of how much. Sometimes it's a touch and go thing, where it's just concealer, mascara and tinted lip balm, and other times I feel like playing more with colors, etc. Seasons influence me big-time, too. With it hot and muggy in the summer I like to be more minimalist and then have more fun playing in fall and winter.
