Did you know?

I'm not sure how I didn't know this already, but I was catching up on some beauty news yesterday and discovered that Stila and (the newly revamped) Jane Cosmetics share the same owner. Check it out:
(From Happi.com)

New CEO Named for Stila, Jane Cosmetics

2013-02-07 | 08:37
Patriarch Partners, LLC, a New York based investment firm and holding company, revealed that Lynn Tilton, Patriarch’s founder and CEO, will assume the role of CEO for portfolio companies Stila Cosmetics and Jane Cosmetics, effective immediately. Patriarch acquired Stila Cosmetics and Jane Cosmetics in April and December of 2009, respectively.

“I believe both brands, together, allow us to inspire the inner beauty in every woman. I have long believed that these companies are a platform to educate, enlighten and empower women. I am excited and honored to work more closely with these teams to be disruptive in our strategies and more innovative in our products,” said Tilton. “I am grateful for the dedication, work ethic and innovation of the new operating teams.”

I wonder if that means that both Stila and Jane share similar formulations? I have yet to try any of the new Jane cosmetics yet, but I've seen some pretty favorable reviews. Have you tried anything from Jane 2.0 yet?

  1. Is it just me or is Patriarch a horrible name for the owner of beauty companies??

  3. The only jane I've tried from the new lineup is the gloss that was in a recent ipsy bag. I was underwhelmed.

  4. That is interesting. I know that at some point both companies were owned by Estee Lauder, but I believe that this is the first time both brands shared a CEO. Thanks for sharing this tidbit!

  5. I haven't bought any new Stila (or Jane, for that matter) products in quite some time ... I do still have some Stila brushes from the 90s, back before they were bought out by Estee Lauder.

  6. I tried one of the new Jane eyeshadow and blush palettes. People who like highly pigmented products will love these. Ms. Paleface here has to use a very light hand--it's easy to go overboard.

  7. I've never used Stila but I do know that they are made in the USA. Does anyone know if Jane is made in the USA too?

  8. I have one Jane eye/cheek palette.. and it's fantastic. The only complaint I had was there are not many to choose from, 6 in total and they are very standard colors, and I would rather buy just the shadows by themselves although I did try the blush as shadow and it worked very well. I would happily buy more if I could find them locally, the quality is very good.. I ordered the one I have from drugstore.com simply because I was curious and needed to meet the limit for free shipping. The colors were quite different than I expected.. which is a large reason why I prefer to buy products in person.
