The Weekly Drugstore Makeup Sales (1/6 - 1/12)

Sorry for the delay in getting this post up--my parents were finally well enough to celebrate our (postponed) Christmas, so we finally got to open our gifts today and celebrate the holiday! After that was done, I rushed home to finish this post and now I can't wait to go watch the season premiere of Downton Abbey. If you're a Downton Abbey fan, let me know if you enjoyed this week's episode in the comments (but no spoilers, please!).

HIGHLIGHTS, TIDBITS AND NEWS

CVS shoppers: If you've been wanting to try the new Revlon Nearly Naked products I reviewed a little while ago, now is the time to do it because this week they're on sale for $6.99 each and you get $2 back in Extra Bucks and the limit is SIX on this offer (this sale also includes ColorStay lip color and PhotoReady BB Cream). And if you missed out on last week's great deal on Physicians Formula at Rite Aid, this week at CVS all PF cosmetics and skincare are $5 off (if you happen to find any of the new products with peelie coupons for $3 off, you're going to get these products for a great price!). Don't forget that the CVS Beauty Clearance Sale is still going on (click here for the master list). Rumor has it that some locations may be putting more items on clearance starting at the middle of this month, so if you haven't been able to find some of the items on the master list on clearance at your locations, you might have better luck in a week or two, so keep on scanning!
Rite Aid shoppers: Holy Neutrogena Sale, Batman! You don't see this very often (like, never): this week ALL Neutrogena cosmetics, skincare, haircare, sunless and men's products are 40% off.  Don't forget that the January Video Values coupons are now up (unless otherwise specified, you can stack those coupons with any manufacturer's coupons you may have). There are some great beauty coupons this month for you to print out (after you watch brief videos, of course).
Walgreens shoppers: Select Lumene skincare is BOGOFREE this week (I hope this includes the new BB Cream--if you know, please leave a comment below. Thanks!). Don't forget that the January Coupon Book is now in stores (coupons valid 12/29 - 1/26). Click here for the full list of what's inside this month's book. And remember that you can stack these coupons with any manufacturer's coupons you may have, for even more savings (there are lots of good L'Oreal coupons this month).

  1. I was at Walgreen's today and the Lumene BB Cream is BOGO free. I didn't get it because I couldn't find any reviews and why would I want two of them right off the bat?

    1. Why would you have to buy two BB creams when other Lumene products are also BOGOFREE?

  2. Last month when G posted the bb cream, i wanted to buy it but couldnt find any review in English. i finally broke down and made the purchase for the first time without reading any review because the deal at cvs was really good ( worked out to be about $3 after ecb beauty bucks and coupon) I initially bought the bb cream in 02 medium/ dark but it was too orange on me do I bought 01 fair and mix them together to match my skin tone. I had only used one unknown Korean bb cream before and it was too light and kind or greyish so I can't really give comparison. I would say lumene is light coverage but can be build up to medium coverage. I don't use concealer so I tend to put a bit too much on problem areas( to cover my freckles) texture is nice but needs some powder on top to ease the greasiness ( at least for me. Besides I like med to full coverage ) I still like my revlon colorstay more due to this reason. But on casual days that I'm just going to market, it's not bad. I havent seen any benefits it claims but my skin is brighter and smoother from lumenes other products ( vit c and time freeze line) For reference, I wear colorstay golden beige ( winter) and natural tan ( summer) I was very tan in the summer so now I'm sort of in between. I was too spoiled during cvs lumene sale last year and still have plenty of stuffs left. Even bogo couldn't beat the price I got at cvs after ecb and coupon.

    1. Thanks so much for the mini review! I'm glad you were able to mix the two, to get closer to your skintone.

  3. anyone else prefer 25% off instead of a BOGO?
sometimes I don't want or need 2 items. CVS used to do their sales that way years ago. BEtween that and the card in order to buy I rarely shop there any more

    1. It's funny that you say that because i've noticed a slight shift lately to more non-bogo1/2off deals at the drugstores. Instead of bogo1/2off, rite aid and CVS seem to be running more ” spend X amount get X amount in rewards” sales and i've also noticed a slight increase in the amount of straight percentages off sales (like you mentioned--25% off, 40% off, etc).

A month or so ago, Walgreens had three or four 25% off sales within the same week on various brands of skincare. They seem to do this pretty often.

    2. PS: you need a card to get the sales/deals at Walgreens, CVS and rite aid...

    3. I like the 40% off deals, which is a better deal than BOGO 1/2 off. Wag's used to have them, but ever since the Express Scripts debacle they have gotten stingy with the sales (can't even get vitamins BOGO free anymore). I don't pay strict attention to your sale posts, G., unless I'm looking for a particular deal, but it seems like Rite Aid has the 40% off ones most.

    4. Whoops, misread this somehow and made a fool of myself at Walgreens when L'Oreal wasn't BOGO. Hope they do have that on sale soon, though (like, next week would be good!).

    5. Oh, and also, I was both encouraged and disappointed at CVS this afternoon--they had Revlon Nearly Naked powder and foundation--but not the foundation in my color (I *always* buy the lightest possible shade). Such a good deal, though! So I went up a color and I'm hoping I like it, I think a slightly darker foundation might be good for me and give me a little color and life.

  4. Ugh I wish I had gotten the $2 off CG coupon! I got the new 3 in 1 foundation and a CGQ Powder for $5.XX using coupons, sales, and extrabucks. Would have been nice to bring that total down to $3.XX!

    1. I'm sorry you didn't get it! Are you a new member of the beauty club? That's the only reason I can think of as to why you didn't get it?

I'd love you know what you think of that foundation!

  5. I bought 6 of the Maybelline Color Whisper lip colors with the special at Walgreens. Will you be reviewing these soon? There were other colors I wanted to try, but wanted to try these first. Feels lighter in texture than a Chapstick, and the staying power is less than a lipstick, but I won't complain.

    1. I'm so backed up with new products to test/review at the moment that i'm afraid I probably won't get to these until Feb or maybe Mar. I'm so sorry!

    2. That's ok! Will look forward to it! :)

  6. I took advantage of the Neutrogena sale at Rite Aid; got the anti aging day moisterizer (the first one maybe?) and the Healthy Skin foundation. That was an awesome sale!

    1. No, but I requested some info from Garnier about it...as soon as I hear back, I'll post!

  8. Delay in posting this is totally excused if due to Downton Abbey! :-) I'm such a fan that I watched the entire season online a few weeks ago and totally risked getting viruses on my computer which I hook up to my tv. I watched episode 1 TWICE last night, even though like I said, I've already watched the entire 3rd season (except Christmas Special) already. I'm a HUGE Lady Mary fan (always have been -- she's a diva and the oldest daughter, so I totally identify, haha). I love how she has a real face and body that accurately reflects what women's bodies look like without plastic surgery. This might be controversial to say, but I've always wished they'd found another actor to play Matthew Crawley besides Dan Stevens though. I've seen him in numerous other PBS movies and always considered him the "poor (wo)man's Hugh Grant." Aside from pretty blue eyes and acceptably handsome appearance, he doesn't have much else going for him. Haha, just my opinion. Are we allowed to talk about our favorite moment/line from episode 1 or is that spoiling?

  9. I just went to 3 cvs to hunt down the new physicians formula sexy booster: sexy glow glossy stain (wow long name, then again pf always have long names) I found them in my last stop yeihh I got both hot pink and red for only 6.78 because they were 4.99 on sale and they also had a 2 dollar off peel off coupon I can't wait to use them, also all of the happy booster blushes rung up 3.19 on clearance, lastly I got a 3.50 dlls off cvs coupon in the coupon machine for being a loyal customer awesome!!! I love cvs

  10. For some reason, I didn't get the coupons you mentioned at CVS. Instead, I got a $3 off $10 Revlon coupon! (And a $1 off Maybelline.) I promptly used this coupon on this week's Revlon sale since I wanted to try the Nearly Naked powder. Another good deal made better! Something for others to look out for.

  11. Yesterday at Walgreens I picked up one of the new Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes and found out that they're $1 off this week plus I got 1,000 rewards points for my purchase. Pretty cool!

  12. Rite Aid's Neutrogena sale was so amazing. There were a couple of products I've been wanting to try, namely the extra gentle cream cleanser in the squareish bottle and one of the retinol creams. Very exciting. With the coupons I already had and my UP+ rewards, I spent about $11 on $38 worth of products.

  13. FYI, I live in NYC and tried to take advantage of the Neutrogena sale and was told by Rite Aid that skin cleansers were not part of the sale. Booooo.

  14. Thank you for the reminder about CVS clearance!! went to a couple different CVS - Only one had anything makeup for 75% but I scored major at that one of them to put in my stockpile for my daughter's bday gifts. by the by I got a $1 off Maybelline when I scanned my card.
