The Lipstick League – week of 11.5.12

Lipstick League Question of the Week:
What ONE beauty item would you choose if someone offered to purchase it for you…no price limit?
G's answer: This is a tough one, because part of me says I'd want to get one of those ridiculously expensive skincare products like this $750 eye cream kit, just to see if it actually works. But on the other hand, there are plenty of expensive products I really, really want but can't justify purchasing for myself right now (such as a dozen or so fragrances from Lucky Scent). I'm torn!

Links of the Week:

EauMG – Victoria reviews Iris de Nuit perfume. It’s a fresh out of the dryer iris!

Lipglossiping – talks lucky numbers as she tries to figure out the sums involved in making a fragrance as delightful as Liz Earle’s latest offering!

Gouldylox Reviews – I’m not the most confident person when it comes to body image, but shapewear boosts my confidence each time I wear it. Have you tried it? Rachel Zoe has a new line (yes, I too wonder if she’s worn it) and I’m giving away $100 worth in this (sponsored) post!

Nouveau Cheap – As a self-proclaimed “dry shampoo junkie” who can’t resist trying every new version that hits the drugstore, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the newest offering from Aveeno.

Pink Sith – tells you all about Literal Linda and the Lise Watier Portfolio Corrector. She is also giving one away, so enter today!

Prime Beauty – picks her favorite bareMinerals gift sets from a mind boggling selection.

Phyrra – is hosting an amazing Too Faced Giveaway worth $209! And it’s open Worldwide!

we heart this – We’re having a Too Faced giveaway of our 10 favorite products. Pop by and enter, why don’t you?

Beauty Junkies UniteEnter to win a Too Faced prize pack, with 10 of Amber’s favorite products, valued at $267!

Clumps of Mascara – is lovin’ how creamy these Too Faced Créme lipsticks are. And that gold tube? Goooorgeous!

Guest Post of the Week, as chosen by EauMG – One of my favorite blogs is Beauty Huile. It’s a must read beauty blog if you love green beauty products and oils as much as I do!

  1. Easy choice: Creme de la Mer. It's supposed to be practically miraculous, and I would love to try it, but I will never ever buy it because of the price tag.

  2. Revitalash or one of those at-home laser hair removal kits.

  3. Naked 2 palette for me... I can only afford drugstore products at the moment :/ some day it will be mine haha...

  4. I would get the DHC Salicylic Acne Set. I would love to own it.

  5. Cle de Peau concealer. I have been wanting to try this for years but, I just cannot bring myself to shell out $70 for a concealer!

  6. Tarte maracuja oil. I can't live without it. My fountain of youth.

  7. Tough question! I'm thinking probably something from Cle De Peau. Everything from them looks so glamorous.

  8. I looked up your $750 serum (which used to be $1500 lol), and I have to say I wouldn't let that stuff anywhere near my face. Between the citrus ingredients and the cornstarch, I would have a swollen, red zit-fest. (I found the ingredients at the "truth in aging" website.)

  9. Good question! I'm positively torn between Lancome - Hypnose perfume, a really hard to find or more expensive nail polish (such as Hits No Olimpo - Hefesto, Zeus or Rescue Beauty Longe - Insousciant) and one of the Paula's Choice products :)

I don't want really expensive products, just ones that are impossible to find in my country or which I simply cannot afford right now.

  11. That's a toughie. I think I'd want some treatment to fix some of my dark spots and acne scarring. (I think Allure reported on one pricey one that is supposed to work.) But I'd take laser treatments, too. I've also always been curious about the pricier makeups, like Clé de Peau. What does a $60 lipstick feel like, I wonder, and would I like it any more than the 99-cent NYC Sheer Red I adore?

  12. At this moment it would either have to be YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation because at $55.00 plus tax, I just can't see myself spending that much on foundation. The most I spent was $42.00 on a Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and I will never ever do that again! My second choice would be a Clarisonic just to see what all the hype is about. I will likely by the ULTA version of it anyway.

  13. I would love the sea turtle palette by Chantecaille omg so pretty, but like $75!! I love that some proceeds to toward charity!!

As far as the expensive face cream
Is concerned.. They put so much cr@@p in some creams that I find my skin behaves better with pure and natural ingredients!! I started using a brand I found on etsy- honeybee holistivs, and their anti wrinkle cream (9.50, organic, handmade) makes me feel so great :) I dint see what can cost $750 for a cream?! It seems bogus to me!
