How often do you purchase beauty products online?
Believe it or not, I don't make online beauty purchases that often. Obviously, most of the products I want to buy at any given time can be found at the drugstore. But since I post about good online deals quite often, it's hard to resist them all, and I sometimes give in to temptation. I'd say it happens every few months. I might make a series of small purchases within a week, and then I won't order anything online for a few months after that. The words "free shipping" + "sale" are my weakness.
I purchase 95% of my beauty and nail products online. I can't see paying more when I can pay a lot less. If it wasn't for the sweet drug store deals that you post, I probably would not purchase any beauty products in a store.
ReplyDeleteI buy online more often, but that could be because I don't have a car. I do buy products in stores but I think at least 80% of my shopping is done online.
ReplyDeleteI find that I make online beauty purchases several times a year, usually when there is a friends & family or other type of sale going on. Beauty.com had a 20% off sale not too long ago, and I repurchased some items I had run out of. Then there was the Butter London BOGO sale at Ulta earlier this week. I don't discriminate - I love drug store and high end equally - but I prefer to get my higher end stuff on sale when possible.
ReplyDeleteI don't often buy goodies online either. It really has to catch my eye before I do.
ReplyDeleteBut when I do, I make sure to take advantage of sales and ebates.
the word sale is also my weakness! i managed to resist the 50% off studio line sale on elf since there were some items in the mineral line that i wanted to get... now i figure i'll just wait for a 50% off sitewide sale... i did good! go me!
ReplyDeleteThe only time I order anything online is if I get free shipping unless the price drop is so huge that it still costs less even with the shipping. Other than that I don't really like online shopping. I like being able to see the things I'm going to buy before I buy them and in the case of nail polish I like to open up the bottle and see if the brush is good or if the formula seems super goopy. D:
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm just old fashioned.
I buy most things online. I wish every website had free shipping! I try to wait until they do, but if it's a very good deal I usually buy it even if I have to pay for shipping. Just last night I bought a whole bunch of ELF studio brushes thanks to your coupon code :)
ReplyDeleteCosmetics and skincare rarely unless there's a sale on something I know I will use (stores give instant gratification, it's easier to return or exchange, etc). But perfume I buy online 99% of the time. Samples and decants are pretty much impossible to get "IRL" and the few full bottles I want are never discounted in stores as much as they are online.
ReplyDeleteVery rarely do I buy beauty products online. Like you, I get most of my items from the drugstore so there is no need. The last time I really bought something online was when it was limited edition and no longer available online. That's usually when I turn to E-bay.
ReplyDeleteI usually won't order online unless it's worth my while to do so: Free shipping or it's something I can't easily find close to home. Plus, I work mostly at home so getting out for a half-hour to CVS or one of the other drugstores for a bottle of nail polish is a nice little break for me.
ReplyDeleteVery seldom, and only if it is a product I am familiar with.. been burned too many times ordering something new, only to get it and have it be nothing like I expected.. colors are especially hard online, the differences in their camera, the transfer to the website and my monitor usually mean it looks completely different in real life. I prefer to touch and see things before I buy them. I also live in S. Louisiana and the heat is a definite problem when shipping most cosmetics. Shadows or anything else fragile do not fair well either, half the packages I receive look like someone was playing hockey with them.
ReplyDeleteUsually about once a month. I have Walgreen's, CVS, and Target locally, but no Rite Aid or Ulta, so I have no local source for Color Club or Zoya nail polish. And Zoya has SHA-WEET sales!
ReplyDelete"Free shipping" + "sale" are definitely my weaknesses. Which means I'll buy things online every couple of months. You don't get the kind of deals you can get at drugstores online but for higher end products, shopping online when there's a promo often works out well.
ReplyDeleteActually about as often as you do, once in several months. Unless it's something I've used before and liked, I am hesitant to try something new via an online purchase. I hate to return things via mail. Also, I like to see the actual product and hold it in my hands to better judge whether it will work. AND, there's the cost factor, of course. Is it something I WANT or something I NEED? Know what I mean? ;+)
ReplyDeleteI would say I buy online and in store about 50/50. I've purchased most of my foundations and blushes online; not sure why but it just worked out that way. I just ordered 3 HD blushes and the two new blush/bronzer sets form ELF....sigh...I will not order anything else for a while.
ReplyDeleteI rarely order stuff online. The only time I do is if it's something I can't get instore or if I'm really impatient and can't wait for a store to get it.
ReplyDeleteAll my skincare products are purchased online, but makeup/polish is purchased at drugstores/Sally Beauty. I used to order every couple of months, but for the past 8 months I've been winning so much skincare that it will go bad before I run out (at least at the current rate). So, I've drastically reduced my online ordering.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big online shopper (mostly birthday/holiday gifts to relatives in the US), but regarding beauty purchases, I would say 2-3 times a year. If I were to include skincare items too, I'd say 4-6 times a year. Put fashion on top of that (mostly eBay) and it's 8-12 times a year. Everything has to ship to Canada for me, so including shipping and sometimes the brokerage fee, may not be worth it. If it's a really, really amazing deal, like 75% off or more I may bite the bullet or I may ship it to a relative in the States that I see often, but it's usually weeks, sometimes months, before I will see the product.
ReplyDeleteDHC Cleansing oil and Korean BB creams are usually the only things I order online.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I realized I shop like 75% online! I start to have a panic attack when I get emails from sites saying "free shipping" or "50% off" because I feel like I am missing a good deal so I usually talk myself into it. LOL. I also think its the thrill of seeing my package on the doorstep! It reminds me of being a kid and getting a goody bag at a birthday party!!! I sound crazy. Thankfully, I haven't been shopping as much lately online because my husband has questioned the amounts of packages coming in!! He suggests I need to go to Shopoholics Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteNever! I like to see things in person. My only exception is that I buy from Avon, but out of the catalogs in the old-fashioned manner.
ReplyDeleteHm... I think I shop online for beauty products maybe 20-30% of the time. Unless I am absolutely sure that a product cannot be found in my area (e.g., Korean BB creams) I prefer to buy a beauty product in person. I do make an exception for skincare - there are several brands/products that I simply love and cannot find in my area!
ReplyDeleteI be a lot of beauty products online because I don't drive. I'm learning how to drive and I have my permit. I tend to buy online because it's easier for me. I do buy online mainly from Ulta and Sephora since both stores are an hour away from me. I mainly buy products in store from Walmart or CVS.
ReplyDeleteAs a college student with no credit card, never, haha. But even if I had one, I live in New York City and there are drugstores galore over here. It'd just make more sense for me to buy in-store regardless.
ReplyDeleteI probably make a beauty purchase online once every few months. I HATE paying for shipping. Obviously, if I am buying it online, I can't get it at the store, so why must they add insult to injury by charging me for shipping? Additionally, I find that in-store shopping has benefits like seeing it before you commit, instant gratification, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso: coupon codes. Why do they have to slow my roll on coupon codes online? elf, for example, has like 5 sales going but you can only use one code per order. I want all five deals!!!
I really, REALLY want some Sigma brushes (which are currently ONLY available online) but I am trying to wait for Black Friday when I suspect there will be a good sale and free shipping.
I am huge on line shopper! You cannot beat the deals and of course some of the lines I love are always having huge savings online. ELF, UD, Too Faced, etc. It's just so convienant especially when you worl as many hours as I do! :)
ReplyDeleteFree shipping is definitely a lure for me. I also enjoy the fact that no one has swatched my products when I purchase them online. There are some drugstore deals that I can get in person (Bogo) that I am unable to get online. I do purchase LE higher end makeup online. I also like the kickback I get from ebates whenever possible. Somehow that justifies the purchases for me. I would say it's 50/50.
ReplyDeleteI buy a couple of times a year. When Chanel comes out with a LE polish or lip gloss then I buy. I don't live anywhere near a Chanel counter so I go online. It is my only luxury brand that I collect and use. I learned the hard way when I went absolutely CRAZY looking for a dupe for a Chanel LE polish and couldn't find it anywhere and started to get obsessed. Then I went online and it was sold out, so I never found a dupe and never got the actual. So now I just order it early and then I don't worry about the hunt! Since it is only once or twice a year I am fine with the price!
ReplyDeleteI do ALOT of online shopping. I live in a rural area and only have a Walmart, Kmart and a Walgreens nearby...everything else is at least 2 hours away for me and that includes Target, Ulta, Sephora, any other Walgreens - and we don't have Rite Aid or CVS in my state. My weaknesses are Friends & Family sales or those sales with at least 20% off. And those darn limited edition drugstore products will literally drive me insane since my options are limited for hunting and those items are never put out on the websites for purchase! I've missed out on SO many great ones! Argh!!
ReplyDeleteIf I absolutely cannot get a product locally, I will order it. I ran across this just last weekend when someone posted about a nail polish collection they found at Rite Aid. I wanted some but since there is no Rite Aid here and the brand offered free shipping...that was easy!!
