The Lipstick League – week of 4.16.12

Reader Julien left a comment on my post from yesterday and asked I could share some pics from some of the neighborhood street festivals I attended (thanks, Julien!). As luck would have it, I did manage to snap a few pics yesterday:

This first pic was taken at a multi-cultural festival we attended yesterday. I fell in love with the beautiful, traditional costumes that the teens in this Korean drumming/dance troupe were wearing:

They put on an absolutely beautiful performance--their parents must have been so proud! I seriously had tears in my eyes when they were done--it was amazing.

And finally, here's what we had for lunch at the festival:

Salvadoran PUPUSAS!

I love pupusas. I could literally eat them every single day and probably would if I had the metabolism I had 20 years ago. The top one was stuffed with beans and cheese while the bottom one was stuffed with fresh spinach and cheese. Yum yum!

PS: If you live in San Diego, love Central American cuisine, and haven't been to El Salvadoreno yet, they have the best pupusas ever. Love that place!

On to The Lipstick League:

Question of the Week:

If you could eliminate one thing from your morning beauty routine, so that you never had to do it again, what would it be?

G's answer: Without a doubt, it would be concealing. If I never had to use an under-eye concealer again, I would be one very happy woman. It's my least-favorite step in my routine, followed by filling in my brows.

  1. Filling in my eyebrows. Hate it. Constant battle trying to make them look natural. They are uneven, partially due to a lump I have on my left brow, which I have been told by several doctors is nothing to worry about... I have had it for many years. It is right under the front edge of my eyebrow. The other one is much shorter and they are both completely different shapes. I also have light auburn hair and fair warm toned skin... and every product I have ever tried is too cool, too red, or too dark. Drives me nuts. Plus, the icing on the cake... I'm losing color and thinning as I get older, so if I do not fill them, they are almost invisible.

  2. I'm so lazy. I've already eliminated it all down to brush teeth, wash face.
If I wake up with a head of messy hair, I tie it into a pony tail and proclaim myself ready for the day. lol
Now, if I actually take the pains to make myself more presentable with moisturizing, putting on makeup, et cetera.
I'd like to eliminate filling in my eyebrows. next to moisturizing, but my hands always get so dry.

  3. Omg.... I'm from El Salvador can't believe you like pupusas...that is my favorite dish especially my moms. Have you tried the pupusas made of chicharron and cheese they are soooo good!! I'm glad you like them.

  4. I LOVE pupusas. They're so delicious.

    And I'd eliminate foundation/powder... can't I just have flawless skin that doesn't need make-up?

  5. Concealing too. If I didn't have undereye circles and if I had glowing skin so that I'd never have to conceal again, I would be very happy.
