Tuff Scent relaunches scented nail polishes

Going back into the beauty archives of my mind, I seem to recall the brand Tuff Scent from the mid-90s. If you remember them too, then you'll be delighted to hear that they're BACK, and I'm seriously impressed with the scents in their new collections, which are anything but run-of-the-mill:

Reno, Nevada (July 19th, 2011) – Lisa Arnbrister and 18 year old daughter, Sylvana Barbash, have relaunched ‘Tuff Scent’ scented nail polish and this time they’ve added a charitable edge. The brand which has been previously carried by reputable stores such as Sephora, Nordstrom’s, Saks fifth Avenue, Fred Segal, Planet Blue and so on, will now donate $1.00 of every bottle sold to breast cancer awareness in a commemorative effort to support the cure.

“Scented nail polish has a fun twist, you can apply it, smell it and it brings a smile to your face,” says Barbash, whom originally gave her mother the idea while coloring her finger nails with scented markers as a young child. The mother daughter duo have not only set their brand apart by giving each polish an original scent but they have also given the new line affirmative names such as “Faith”, “Hope”, “Believe” and “Dream”.

The line, which makes a fabulous gift or a fun treat for you has already been featured at Ryan Seacrest’s Grammy gifting lounge and will be included at this year’s Teen Choice Awards.

20 new colors/scents, which retail for $14.00, have already become a favorite of celebrities such as Vanessa Hudgens. The unique line is available now at the company website and can also be found at

‘Tuff Scent’ was originally founded in 1996 by Lisa Arnbrister. The scented polish became an overnight global sensation retailing at 2,000 stores worldwide. The line quickly developed an “A List” celebrity following and has been featured on everything from Oprah, Good Morning America and Fox News to In Style, Vogue, W, and Cosmopolitan just to name a few.

After taking a peek at their website and viewing the various collections, here are the shades with unique scents that I find extremely tempting:

(How cute is it that there are flowers inside the bottles of the Garden Collection?)

You can view all of Tuff Scent's collections under the Products tab on their website here.

Nail gals: what do you think of this relaunch? Were you a fan of Tuff Scent back in the 90s? Are you excited to see them back? These polishes definitely appeal to my fragrance-loving nose, and the colors look so pretty too.

  1. These sound like they'll smell so nice! I've never seen/heard of this brand before though so I doubt I'll be able to find them.

  2. never heard of this brand but the colors and bottles look fab. Might have to pick up a couple!

  3. This brand is new to me, but then again, I didn't get into nail polish until recently.

I love that the scents are different and so are the colors - there's more than just a green scented like lime, and orange scented orange and bubble gum scented pink.

    Fig and almond? YES PLEASE!!

  4. Wow has it been that long?! I'm glad they are back! Thanks for sharing.

  5. If I can find them, Truth will be mine!!! :) I have never heard of them but they sound wonderful and so does their mission!!!
