Here's a short and sweet question for you this week, my lovelies:
Washable or waterproof mascara, and why?
This is an easy one for me. I personally do not like waterproof mascaras, because I have had too many bad experiences in the past with tugging and pulling during removal (even with makeup remover). Ideally, I want my mascara to be removable with my regular facial cleanser or makeup towelettes, because I don't like using makeup remover if I can help it. So for those reasons, I prefer washable mascaras. How about you?
I prefer washable mascaras as well. I do have a few waterproof ones in my arsenal, just for the odd occasion I might need one (pool party anyone?) But in general I have had too many experiences where the stuff just does NOT come off.
ReplyDeleteI am a waterproof mascara lover just because it is the only type that keeps my straight lashes curled ! :)
ReplyDeleteOh waterproof most definitely! Good old Ponds Cold Cream takes it off. Slather your face with it and let sit a few minutes. Washes right off.
ReplyDeleteI really prefer washable, being a mommy of two, at night the last thing I want to worry about is difficult mascara.
ReplyDeleteIt's waterproof for me. My eyes get really dry so I have to use lubricating/rewetting eye drops throughout the day. If I don't use eye drops then my eyes try to (over)compensate for the dryness by producing tears. To avoid a smeary, smudgy mess I have to use waterproof mascara. To remove it at the end of the day I use plain old baby oil.
ReplyDeleteI don't own any waterproof mascaras for the simple reason that I hate them, they are so hard to remove and I have very sensitive eyes so just no way for me !! My washable mascaras are great so easy to remove and doesn't give me rakoon eyes even in hot weather!!
ReplyDeleteIn my experience, a quality washable makes waterproof mascara unnecessary. I have been loving a Rimmel washable that, I believe, you recommended!
ReplyDeleteWaterproof. I tend to sweat on my nose a lot (not a lot, like dripping.. but enough) AND my eyes are watery so it's necessary. Sometimes though, I will use washable on my upper lashes. It works much better. If I didn't have to have the waterproof I would pick washable hands down.
ReplyDeleteWashable!
ReplyDeleteI like my lashes & I want to keep them! LOL
waterproof! i dont mind the trouble removing better than having my mascara smudges on me!:)
ReplyDeleteWashable. Waterproof mascara was always a nightmare for me to use and remove.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I'm just the opposite. I've tried to figure out why there is even non-waterproof mascara. I'm all about the waterproof!
ReplyDeleteI prefer waterproof mascaras as I want to avoid smudging, and I don't like worrying about my makeup.
ReplyDeletewaterproof all the way! i don't like the feeling of worrying about my mascara....
ReplyDeleteWashable for me for your same reasons, G. But I know lots of people prefer waterproof, so looking forward to reading the comments!
ReplyDeleteregular washable mascara for me however my eyeliner is waterproof. However when I run a race I definately use waterproof mascara. Yest, I run in mascara and lipgloss. However just one coat and sheer sticky gloss moisture usually lasts for a 15K race.
ReplyDeleteWaterproof! If I don't wear it, I will not have mascara on by the end of the day. I have really watery eyes. Plus, I tend to cry a lot. Watery/teary eyes + non-waterproof mascara turns out badly, and burns!
ReplyDeleteTubing mascara! I use blinc right now, but I want to try the L'oreal beauty tubes.
ReplyDeleteBut I do also use waterproof mascara - I've never even tried washable.
Waterproof mascaras... Even though they're quite a pain to get off, they seem to hold my curl (I have extremely short, thin, stick-straight lashes >_<)
ReplyDeleteWhile I adore how easy non-waterproof mascara is to remove, I am a waterproof girl. My regular make up doubles as my theatrical make up, and the last thing I need is mascara streaming down my face due to sweat or tears. Plus, I wear contacts and regularly need eye drops, and the summers here are particularly humid and my non-waterproof will migrate. I do own a regular mascara, I just don't go through it quickly.
ReplyDeleteI have to use waterproof, my poor eyes are always tearing up random times of the day, so waterproof mascara is really my only choice.
ReplyDeleteI tried avoiding waterproof mascara ever since I started wearing makeup. One thing I hate about makeup is removing it, esp for eyes. However, over the years I realized that for my stubborn, straight but thick Asian lashes... Washable mascaras can't hold the curl. I've now converted to waterproof and it's not as bad as I thought... As long as I have a good eye makeup remover
ReplyDeleteif waterproof wasnt so hard to take off i would prefer it but i like washable.
ReplyDeletei'm really liking hard candy's lash tint. it's definately a waterproof, but it comes off with just soap and water. or baby wipes... :) i need something that can last thru crying spells(i'm a cna in a nursing home).
ReplyDeletewaterproof! I hate smudged mascara worse than having to take the extra step of using eye makeup remover.
