If your Extra Care Card is registered online (if you haven't registered online, you really should!), there's a chance you'll get a $5 off a $25 purchase coupon in your in-box today (I did!). I checked the fine print on the coupon and am pleased to tell you it does NOT exclude clearance merchandise!
Happy shopping, and don't forget to take a peek at the CVS beauty clearance master list, which I updated yesterday!
By the way, I wanted to share with you the crazy deal I got at CVS the other day on lithium batteries (I use them for the digital cameras I use for the blog, and as you know, they're EXPENSIVE):
OK so first of all, I couldn't resist picking up one of my beloved Revlon ColorStay automatic eyeliners in Teal since they're 75% off (hello, $1.85!).
Then, I had two coupons from last Sunday paper's Smart Source insert for $1 off any size/variety Energizer batteries. Also, when I was in CVS, there were $1 off peelies on some of the Energizer lithium batteries as well, so I was able buy four packs and use four $1 off coupons. Yay!
But it gets better: this week CVS is running a deal where if you spend $25 on select Energizer products (there are other brands included in this deal too, such as Banana Boat), you get $10 back in Extra Bucks.
So my goal was to get to $25 worth of Energizer Lithium batteries, which also happen to be SALE this week. So I bought four packs of batteries, plus my eyeliner.
BUT, the red scanner box also printed out a coupon for a FREE Green Bag Tag (love those things!) so I redeemed that as well.
AND, I also had $7 in Extra Bucks from a previous purchase, so I used those during this transaction as well.
When all was said and done, I got about $47 worth of merchandise for about $17 (before tax), and I got $10 back in Extra Bucks, so that's like getting everything for $7 (which is way less than the regular retail price of just one 4-pack of Energizer lithium batteries!).
So now I've got $10 Extra Bucks to use, along with my $5 off a $25 purchase coupon, this weekend. You can totally get deals like this too by just watching the sales, clipping your coupons and combining Extra Bucks deals with sales and coupons!
Batteries can get expensive! but a cheaper alternative is to buy re-chargeable batteries, a full charge can last me about 1,000 picture shots, sometimes even more. I use the kodak ones.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! However, you're double counting the savings from your extra bucks - you're discounting them when you get them back with purchase (the $10), and also discounting when you redeem them (the $7).
ReplyDeleteSo that double counts them - I used to do this too and it led me to spend more on makeup than I otherwise would! It's important to remember that it's only a savings when you get them or when you redeem them, not both.
BeautyAmbition: Thank you so much for the rec! I remember trying rechargable batteries a long time ago and they were more trouble than they were worth, but it sounds like they've improved dramatically since then. Can't wait to give them a try! :)
ReplyDeleteappletwo: OMG, you know, the minute after I published this post I said to myself, "I counted those Extra Bucks twice, didn't I?" Hahaha! Thanks for confirming. And you're absolutely right--I double-counted them once before in an older post and I should have known better than to do it again. :) But at any rate, still a great savings even without the $7 Extra Bucks I used to pay for the purchase, right?
