The Wednesday Question

Drugstore limited edition collections always seem to cause a frenzy in the drugstore beauty world, so I'd love to hear what YOU think:

Drugstore limited edition collections: love 'em or hate 'em?

I personally love them, but I do hate when so many people have difficulty accessing limited edition collections. When the frenzies start, I always try my best to let readers know where things have been spotted, but I still feel terrible for those of you who tell me you can never find limited edition products in your area. So, how do you feel about drugstore limited edition collections?

  1. i feel the exact same way! i love finding limited edition finds in the drugstores but if it's a hard to find item, i feel bad raving about it because there are people that can't find it

  2. I like them when I can find them. lol LE's gt me to purchase right away rather than put it off and then lose out on it. Your blog is my one-stop learn about LE drugstore stuff.

  3. Usually I love them, but at the moment I'm hating them...still looking for the Revlon LE Black Envy nail polish!!! RAGE!!

  4. I agree that they're bittersweet. It's so fun going on "the hunt" looking for the limited edition items, but it's annoying when you never find what you're looking for and you have just wasted your time. The only drugstore limited edition product I HAD to have was Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and I was lucky enough to find and and a back up. I'm off to my local HEB (I'm in Texas) to look for the Revlon limited edition lipstick and nail polish as we speak!

  5. I love them except when I fell in love with an LE item!

  6. I would say I'm indifferent to them. I'm not a devoted makeup lover, I will probably never finish any of my cosmetic products within a year, hence I rarely have the urge to *must have* a certain item.

  7. It's a love/hate thing...I just don't like that they're so hard to find. Hidden Treasure, anyone?

  8. I love 'em, but I tend not to get over-excited about them. Chances are, I'll find 'em at Big Lots a couple months down the road XD.

  9. im neutral. i like new stuff, but the whole limited edition is just marketing nonsense. if it's successful, it will probably come back (or something like it will show up). and if i miss something, it's just makeup. life will go on. :)

  10. I really like LE products. But if you're in a small town, sometimes that becomes difficult.

  11. I like LE collections, but I don't usually see anything I really need from any of them---OR, if I do 'need' something, I can usually satisfy my cravings elsewhere.

  12. I often love the products themselves. Usually there is something special about the limited editions that make them worth taking a look. But I hate the fact that availability is so spotty. I can't even assume that the store that *usually* gets the good stuff will actually get it every time! I wish the drugstore chains would be more consistent in their distribution. Or at least figure out a way to get the information to the customers, either on the web or through their sales associates. Or maybe they should consider selling the limited edition products on their websites. It would take more work to make the website updates, and the products would probably sell out quickly. But I'll bet a big chain like CVS can afford to hire someone just to do those kind of updates. In any case, it frustrates me. And the sales associates are almost always clueless about what I'm talking about when I ask them about new or limited edition cosmetics.

  13. I go only LE with certain brands. I have to admit that I go hunting for is wet n wild--Revlon well for some things not all--Sally hansen--it has to be a color I don't have or very pretty. I love nailpolishes so if it is a little different--I get it.

  14. I love drugstore limited edition collections. The harder to find the better! LOL I think of them as the adult version of the Easter egg hunt. Nothing beats the satisfaction I get when I finally locate I highly sought after, difficult to find LE item. I almost feel like I've won a prize. Half of the time I don't even want anything from these collections. But knowing that hordes of other people (You Tube, blogs, forums) have worked themselves up into a frenzy searching for these items, I get swept up into the frenzy too and feel compelled to hunt these LE collections down. It's a bonus if something from the collection actually catches my eye.

  15. Why do I have to choose? I love them, and yet I hate them! It's exciting and new, but you can only get so many of them! It's like a product that's being discontinued right after it just comes out! They can be very unusual, and that's what I like about them. But I hate that the stuff that I love will most likely never come around again!

  16. I love that they exist, but I hate that some stores never get them. If the coverage were more consistent, there would be no cons at all.

  17. I hate the hunt and frenzy of trying to find them. Revlon isnt so bad *except for the channel dupes which I cant find right now :(* but Wet n Wild is EXTREMELY hard to find. I wish they would make it permanent for like 6 months or something like that until the next seasons LE items. Expecially since only Walgreens seem to carry thier LE products. They should be more widely available.

  18. I hate Limited Edition products because I mostly love them and then I can't find them anymore and I die inside! LOL

I also hate how some people try to capitalize on others interest in LE products and hoard them all. Then they mark up the prices like crazy on whatever website. I found Perplex at Big Lots and I happened to get the last one. This woman said how she was looking for more to sell and it just irritated me. I was happy I got it before her!

  19. Ugh. Hate 'em. It's like a tease. If a company wants to try a new product, try it. If it doesn't work, can it. Move on. But LE? Pointless. Seems like they only call items LE to make you buy them anyway. (i.e. why bother if it's always available? ...but if it's LE...)

  20. I mean I guess its venture capitalism or whatever and people can sell things for whatever price they want but it still irks me! LOL

  21. Hate them. I will discourage myself from buying a LE item just because it's LE. There's nothing I hate more than falling in love with a product, and then discovering that it's been discontinued. So LE is like buying something knowing that you'll never be able to find it again. BAH!

  22. I love the idea of them, but since I live in a rural area, there are no close places to find them. Mostly I just end up wishing I had somewhere to check, though occasionally I might get something. I do enjoy seeing pictures of LE items, and hearing stories about people on the hunt for them. I like the satisfaction of finding something, even if it isn't LE but just out of stock sometimes when you look for it.

  23. Umm, for the most part I enjoy the hunt, but not so much lately since gas prices have gone up so much.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I guess I am feeling more neutral about this topic. To tell you the truth, most of the time I feel very eager to get the LE items when I see you blog about it. However, when I actually go to the store and spot it on display, I feel like "nah" and just never buy them at all. Even sometimes I go to the drugstore and completely forgot about the LE until I see it and just glance at the display and that is it. I never feel like I miss them, it is more of the fact that they should have just make it as a permanent line rather than LE.

  25. They piss me off. My local drugstores rarely get all the fun, hard to find limited edition stuff. I either have to schlep to the Valley or hope that Big Lots will eventually get the leftovers months and months later.

I am currently stalking my fave haunts for the Revlon Fashion Night's Pout and Black Envy Who wants to lay odds they will never appear in my podunk town? Grrrr!!!!

  26. I'm late for the Wed. question, its Thurs, a.m.! But I kinda like the hunt for the LE's. Maybe b/c I just scored Black with Envy so easily. Funny thing was I found it when I wasnt looking!! :) Anyway I did go absolutely nuts trying to find Perplex. I ended up getting the Chanel and hated it. Once it came in the mail, I found Perplex at Big Lots! So despite the results, I guess the hunt gives me something pretty to think about!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't like the idea of LE in general, because you can find a HG product, which is limited edition.. doesn't that suck big time? x

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have a love/hate relationship with LE drugstore products, though I think it's turned to mostly hate at this point :/. The drugstores in my area (namely the Walgreens) are soooooooo sloooooowwww to get anything, if they get it at all. That means I'm seeing numerous blog posts raving about the said item or collection for weeks before I actually find the collection myself. I find it so frustrating having to "stalk" drugstores looking for anything. I wish they would all just put out collections at the same time! I much prefer to order things online, as it saves so much time and frustration. Unfortunately, with LE drugstore stuff, I don't have that option.
